I noticed that one, it was written by Roger Ebert .. which is kinda funny thinking of a guy who did movie reviews turning to making a cookbook. I have the Ultimate Rice Cooker cookbook, lots of good info but a little too frou frou in some recipes. A new one came out called The Everything Rice Cooker cookbook, she started writing up recipes as a blog. But know that she has a book out, she took the recipes down but has general info and pictures.. gorgeous site.
I've noticed it tends to be a dry style of rice, if I turn it off a little earlier it has a better consistency.
Some days I can't hang out in the kitchen and putter with meals. If I start something and walk away .. I tend to forget it or get wrapped into something else until it's a scorched burnt mess.
Quick meals, slow cooker or rice cooker work best.
As for hot dish, casserole meals, those are the mainstay of a MN diet!

mmmmm can't wait until it's cold and have wild rice hot dish! YUM! One of the few cream of whatever that I am willing to make.

if you are then so am I! It's the brattier noisy ones that get to me. Whine "moooooooommmmm I want...." and mom is too tired and frazzled to respond, she ignores him until the whine gets louder and more aggravatingly whiney. And then she snaps! Yelling and crying ensues, you can hear the kid screaming at the far end of the store.. and you're thinking.. OMG! Get me outta here!
And Eloy looks at me and says what I am thinking "Thank God we are done with all that"
We did enjoy a little boy on the bus today, he was giggly and chortling. Trying to be silly and cute. His mom didn't appreciate it, and swatted him a few times.. so not necessary.

The kid was bored so he found ways to entertain himself, get you phone detached from your head and pay attention to your kids!
Oh yeah.. a lady on the bus wanted to pick a fight with the driver. Bit of a back and froth yell between her, the driver and some other random guy in back yelling too. Except she choose a BAD time to start up. Just as she was reeling up to yell some more, two cops walked by the bus. The driver motioned them to help.
She wanted me to be her "witness' of being treated wrongly..she was yelling "I gots a witness, I'm going to report you"..
uh excuse me? I never said I wanted to be part of your argument??

I slid out the back door while the cops came inside, figured this might take awhile, it was only three more blocks to meet up with Eloy and I wanted nothing to do with this lady.
I wisely choose the back, some guy (not involved at all) choose to exit too .. out the
front door.... where the cops were boarding.
The cop snagged his backpack, stopped him and asked for an ID.
Hmm, racial profiling much? They didn't say anything to me.
Then I walk down the street and I see a young couple looking a little concerned. Three little boys of various ages, not any of them old enough to be alone. The littlest cry wailing his little heart out. The downtown ambassador (people who work to keep the streets clean, works with police to maintain safety) is with the couple and children while on a radio. Approaching is two ladies.. little crying boy runs to her and latches his little body to her side. She didn't look too concerned, not relieved to find a missing kid.. no she looks pissed that some official looking person is with her kids. Really??? Did she really just walk off and leave her kids alone on a VERY busy day during rush hour?? The farmer's market is going on, business people rushing home, football AND baseball game about to start plus people using the bus to go to the state fair-- there are 100,000 extra people downtown today... and it looks like she left her kidlets behind somewhere along the way
and thought it was just fine.
WHAT!!!!!!??!! People are crazy! That's child abandonment/ endangerment and I hope they called the cops to haul her stupid butt away. Unbelievable.
I wonder if she left them in Target toy dept, went shopping and they wandered out looking for her. They were just a block away.
