Discussing my "To Do" list with hubby, mine contained the following items:

Go to the "good" bread store

Aldi's for produce

Make a batch of diasylate for testing.

Hubby replied with his "To Do" list:

Have a cigarette
Take a poo
Eat breakfast

:sad2:

I replied: You missed scratch yourself and yawn.

He repiles: No, I already did that.
Walks away laughing as I do this :rolleyes2

Good... afternoon, hyenas!
To my surprise, it's sunny today. I think we have a bit of a lull in the weather pattern, because we are supposed to have rain off and on this week. So we'll enjoy the sun while we can. :)

We went to gymnastics today. It's interesting to watch DS4, who seems to adjust his skill level 'performance' based on the other kids in class. He had one class a few weeks ago where some kids were really advanced, and he did really well in keeping up with them. Today it was a larger class and lots of kids who seemed less experienced, and he was not doing moves anywhere near as well as I know he can. :confused3

DS7 did well somersaulting but needs a lot of work doing cartwheels and hand stands. He also did really well on a high single bar where she had them practice swinging their legs forward and back to push their hips away from the bar several times. (This looks to be in preparation for swinging around the bar.) :thumbsup2

Gymnastics isn't really DS7's thing, though I think he's enjoying it as a summer activity. He really enjoys sports so I think it's been a good change of pace, and hopefully will give him more flexibility and awareness of his body and balance to help in the sports he plays.

Every week I've brought a book to class, but haven't touched it because I'm watching the kids. So I didn't even bother bringing one today. So many kids, all looking like they're having a blast! How can you not watch? :goodvibes

OK, time to get some lunch made and shoo Ds4 off to nap. I'll check back in a bit to see if anyone's here to chat! :)

Hello Hyenas,

It's a bit of a slow day at work today. I checked all my e-mails this morning and I have one crazy issue with one of my customers that I need to deal with but other than that it's surprisingly calm.

I think it's because there was a hurricane in Mexico and a typhoon over in Taiwan.

My bf has the day off today. He passed his class and he went to the DMV to take a written test. The lady at the DMV gave him 3 written tests to take! When he turned them in, he told me that another lady said: "You were only supposed to take 2 tests." Then the lady that had given him 3 tests to take said: "I don't normally work here on Mondays."

At least he passed, which is good and they issued him a permit. He is out riding right now. I'm a bit nervous but I know you have to take it all in stride and just be safe.

Oh and he told me that one girl in his class failed and has to re-take the course, due to dropping the bike.

Hello Hyenas,

I just watched Journey to the center of the earth in 3D. It was awesome. :)

My bf and I didn't eat lunch so we are having a late lunch/dinner at Jerri's Famous Deli.

There is a guy sitting across the room that laughs like a freakin goat! I kid u not and it is annoying as hell! Imagine how loud he must be up close! Some other customers around us keep throwing him dirty looks because all u hear is his voice and goat laughter. :sad2:

Perhaps he really is a goat and he's just upset because he's tomorrow's lunch special!:scared1:

It's always been the day after Labor Day even when I was a kidlet, I think my sister's boys started the thursday before or something.. but parents get peeved and they switched it back to day after.

They do modified traditional calendar in Moreno Valley, starting mid August... longer breaks for winter/spring and ending 1st/2nd week of June .

Actually, "back in the day" the boys in a farming family might not get to school until late September /early October-- giving time to get the crops in for the season.

I know my hubby said for his school in Wisconsin, it was expected and allowed to have time off during deer hunting.

:lmao: Yep, hunting is an excused absence at our high school if arranged prior to the trip. Check this out, page 9, section 2, paragraph C. Not only is hunting excused, but so is fishing, but apparently only if it's a family trip, so I guess that means Mom has to go also! And so are "Out of State" trips, so I guess that means we have to go to Disney for a vacation instead of Seattle. : http://www.woodlandschools.org/files/pages/whs/whshbk.pdf

Gotta love that Mother Nature sometimes!:thumbsup2 One man's natural disaster is another man's goof off day!:lmao:

Well it looks like another busy day on my desk, so I must get back to work. Hope everyone has an awesome day! And by the way, what good excused absences from school do you City Dwellers have??:confused3 :lmao:

Planned absences are very lightly referenced in our school district handbook; illness and "exceptional family circumstances" are the only excused absences. However, the school's office staff (and the teachers I've dealt with so far) are very cooperative about taking vacations during the school year.

But we have over 5 pages listing serious offenses and the consequences of committing those offenses, including arson, drug possession, use or sale, wearing gang colors, weapons possession or assault. :sad2:

Oh and I got a coupon for a buy one get one free at Jamba Juice that my Aunt e-mailed to me. My cousin and I went and then on the way there I saw this SUV and the license plate frame said: "EAT MY PIXIE DUST" :scared1: IMPOSTER!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Wow! What an awesome afternoon. My boss came in and gave me a "project" to work on. Seems the gas station that he goes to all the time had a poster up and they were raising money for a little girl 8yo that needs a liver transplant. Her insurance has agreed to cover the cost if they can raise $21,000 for the deductible.

Well last month my boss had told the lady at the gas station (her child goes to the same elementary school) if they needed help and found a liver to let him know and he would donate the remaining amount to get them the $21,000 they needed.

They got a call this morning and they have received a good liver match for her! She is going into surgery around 6pm tonight at the Children's Hospital in Seattle.

So I had to get all of the information together, track down the fund and find out how much more they needed. So this afternoon my boss made the donation of the remaining $10,600!

She is a darling little girl and here is their blog:http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahbizgan

So everyone say a prayer for Sarah tonight. :flower3:

Good evening gals! I am trying to unclog a drain in my sink right now. :woohoo: EXCITEMENT!!:lmao:

Okay.. I got the drain cleared. Finally! What I used was NOT at all environmentally friendly, or healthy AT ALL. But it WORKED! and my sink is cleaner than it has been in years. :lmao:

Good.. Her kids are getting along, and she is getting freaked out. :lmao:
