One of my four year old twins is still a bit leary of the characters. She is not afraid of them (like she used to be), but would rather they didn't get too close. She does enjoy watching them, just would rather not touch or hug them.

How is this handled in Kids Club? I am assuming that if I tell the counselors ahead of time they will let her keep her distance (if that is what she wants) when characters visit. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this.

When you get your Kids club navigator it is a weekly schedule. There will be a symbol next to the activity to tell you if a character is going to be at the club. If you are concerned, you could stay at the club during that activity or at least until you see your child is comfortable with the characters presence.

My DS 5 is the same as your twins. He actually loves all the characters but is very hesitant about approaching them unless they are a fav (like Pooh).

That said, on our Wonder cruise he interacted with Minnie and Snow White very well at the club. I personally think the folks within the characters do an excellent job at recognizing shy children and accomodating them. If the kids show fear, they move on.

On the land portion of our visit, DS stayed way on the fringe of the crowd when the characters showed up at the Poly. They saw that and approached him for a very special one-on-one. He loved it!

Thanks for the replies. We will have a couple of days at WDW before the cruise, so that should give us an idea of how comfortable she will be with the characters on this visit. (She was still quite shy of Easter Bunny on Easter)

I had thought that with this age group, the characters would be very sensitive to the kids--but it is reassuring to hear it from someone who has been there.
