My family and I will be visitng the world in Sept 2009. This will be our third trip and would like to try a character meal for the first time. We have 2 children, a son who will be 10 and a daughter who will be 4. Any thoughts about which are the best character meals, best value for money etc. would be greatly appreciated.

is Ohana. Ten year olds cn be tricky with character. On our last trip my son who was nine acted as if he was too cool for 40% of the attractions and rides and too scared for the other 40%. Ohana has Lilo, Stitch, Pluto and Mickey at breakfast.

My son didn't seem to mind CRT too much and my daughter, four the last time, loved it.

We love Chef Mickey's or Liberty Tree Tavern for a first charector meal. Mickey's can get loud and tons of kids running around. Good is good for breakfast & a monorail ride is sure to please anyone. Like Liberty Tree b/c no matter what age after running around the parks all day in the heat (plan MK that day) a nice air conditioned place to rest is welcomed regardless of which charector's are there. It tends to feel less crowded & much quieter in LTT than crystal palace & the plaza and tony's are terrible IMO. Also since the meal is served family style (brought to your table) vs buffett, that's one less line you have to stand in.

We liked the Crystal Palace for lunch. We'd spend all morning running around the MK and enjoyed sitting in an air-conditioned restaurant for a rest. When my DS was 10, he wasn't into the characters all that much. However, he did it for his little sister, who was then 7. We also liked Chef Mickey's for either breakfast or dinner. Also, the Donald Duck breakfast at AK was good.

LTT won't be a character meal nex September.

I pd oop because better value than using 2 TS credits each.....but so worth seeing the sparkle in my child's eyes. It was expensive for eggs and fruit lol, but that didn;t matter...the happiness and thrill in their eyes did and I can't wait to do it again!

We were there 2 weeks ago and did Chef Mickey's , Donalds Tuskerhouse, Crystal Palace, CRT and O hana'. I would say that without a doubt that O hanas was the best breakfast. The kids get a kick out of Stitch - who is not the typical character you see all over Disney and the food is superb. Hot Mickey Waffles are brought to the tables for the kids - what more do they want? The Characters came round at least 4 times for photos parades and autographs.

Crystal Palace breakfast can get you into MK earlier than anyone else. It is REALLY cool to walk down Main Street with nobody there. Get some amazing pictures. And the food and surroundings are very high quality.

We are here now and just did 4 character meals this week. Of the four we tried, I would rank them this way: Ohana's, Cape May Cafe, Liberty Tree, (which won't be doing characters) and Chef Mickey's. For great food, try Ohana's for good character interaction and good food, try Cape May. The character's here were GREAT!! In fact DS got his picture taken with Chip, Goofy and Minnie all at the same time because the restaurant was not crowded. They stopped at our table at least 3 times. The characters were horribly rushed at LTT and CM's. IMO!

Wow, I can't believe LTT will no longer be doing characters. I was going to come on here and say that was the best one. Well, even w/o characters, we'll be going back there b/c that was the best food we had all trip BY FAR. In order of preference, we did these: LTT, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Faire (great Mad Hatter interaction would be great with your 10 yr old), and Chef Mickeys. OOps, I forgot, we also did Playhouse Disney character dining at Hollywood and Vine. That might be a little much for your 10 yr old since the characters are JoJo, Goliath, and two of the Little Einsteins. It would be cute for your 4 year old tho if she watches those shows! Good luck!
