Chapek out as CEO!

Dissecting the announcement, there are two themes:

1. Lack of support/respect by employees. Let's face it, Chapek deserves this one. He's scrimped on everything, making even the most fervent CM cringe. Employee in non-park divisions feel like he's just a "money guy", getting them to chop expenses and increase revenue. No respect from your employees is a killer for a modern CEO. They'll do what you say, but they'll talk to everyone about you behind your back. No confidence by employees leads to no confidence by wall street and retail investors.

2. The stock price. Chapek needs to own this one. Huge losses by Disney+ can only continue so long before analysts start questioning why something hasn't been done to stem the tide of red ink. This is not the dawn of the streaming era. If you want to compete with Amazon and NetFlix, you need to put compelling content on your site. Even HBO, long a bastion of theatrical release movies, figured out that they were losing subscribers to NetFlix and Amazon, who offer their own exclusive content. With Disney's large IP portfolio, you'd expect hundreds of titles online. But, that's not what's there. Disney announces that they have new subscribers, but the cost to obtain them is through the roof. Something has to be done. I think Iger understands that Disney+ will never displace Amazon or Netflix, but is a nice companion service to it. I'm not sure Chapek really understood that.
I agree! Disney does not have enough content on Disney+. It’s great when a new movie comes out, and then that’s pretty much it for my family. They should really spin Disney+ off to Amazon or Netflix, but they never will. They have many lines of profitable ventures, they should concentrate on them…..especially the parks.

This is great news. Here you go Chapek you did a terrible job here’s 20 million or more.

The thing is you can raise gas prices steadily from $2 to $6 and people will hate the person that did it. You can then have someone with better showmanship come in and lower to $5 and you will love him for doing it. If there are any changes to the parks it will be things that cost Disney nothing.
As to Chapek he is a very wealthy scapegoat and Iger was willing to come back so he can make sure his Disney legacy is not, he handpicked Chapek.
Chapek never had a chance. He does not even have the Disney CEO look of slim with great hair and smile and showmanship.

Yes, Chapek was doomed from the beginning. The thing with gas prices is they typically rise with inflation and supply/demand. Chapek took price increases to a whole new level far exceeding inflation. Disney has forever gone down this road. Pricing is way out of control. And with D+ they already want to raise the price yet are far behind NFLX and AMZN with content.

Nope. Chapek was certainly eating good!

All that has changed is a different 'BOB'

Same goals . ALL mde programs are not going anywhere.
Iger's role is to be a calming voice. He ran, sorry 'stepped away' to let Chapek take the heat. Chapek was too blunt.
He will do fine since he is leaving with 20 million dollars.

The spring is going to touch with the recession. Local news is waring of troubles ahead for tourism.. Which means Orlando will be hit hard.

Have to disagree with you there....Andor is one of the best produced and well written story lines of a Star Wars based series i have seen in a while.
