Changing your program season?

I got an e-mail from DCP about changing my season from Spring to Fall/Fall Advantage.

I assume it means that if you switch, you're still guaranteed a spot in the program, you're just arriving much later?

Is anyone else getting these, and is anyone considering doing it?

Wow - I haven't heard that but I am sure with the trepidation you have been feeling that makes the decision all the more difficult.

I wonder if they are trying to spread out the CMs a bit more to cut down on employees?

Good luck with what you decide!

You're right, it does make my decision very difficult.

I've been really getting myself emotionally prepared...and NOW they give my chance to buy some more time. Haha

I don't know, I e-mailed my roommate about it. We were matched through the matching thing, and I've been talking to her a lot, and I really like her. I really don't want to leave her high and dry.

At the same time, it's not too late to get my job back and enroll in classes. It would give me the opportunity to get into the right major to earn credits for the CP, save up some more money, and get a new car - just be more prepared in general. Also maybe I could snatch a friend to apply for the fall....or my boyfriend could try again.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand I was starting to get excited about going, and ready to get out of the snow. On the other, there are definitely benefits to delaying.

I don't know why they're doing this, I'm guessing it might be something along the lines of what you were saying, but if a lot of people switch, then that's going to make it harder for new applicants to get in in the fall =/

Well I think I'm going to give myself one night to search my feelings. I was just curious if anyone was in the same boat

Many people on the Spring 09 Facebook board got the email. But a lot of them aren't going to switch.

This is definitely a strange situation. At first, you said that you were thinking about backing out. It's as if Disney heard you! That's magic, I'll say.

If you feel like you have things to take care of, then wait until Fall. I think that it would be better to be absolutey ready before you leave.

However, one more thing to take into consideration is the time of the year. Would you be willing to miss the Holidays at home?

There's a lot of things to think about, and in the end, like I said before, it's all up to you.

Whatever you decide, remember, we're always here to help you :)

I got the e mail about switching also. I think Im going to because it will give me more time to save money to go down there.

I see two sides.

First, things can change rapidly! If you decide to put off coming you might not end up coming at all. You think you're gonna prepare, but then you find a special someone or you get a better job(or promotion opportunity) or you decide you want to finish school. I left my first CP and wanted to come back in one year and live here. 3 years later I finally made it back and I have my degree. Not a bad thing, but not when I planned.

Or you can have your bf crash your car a week before you're supposed to drive it 1500 miles to FL and have to get a new car and go through all that in your last week in town. Yeah not stressful at all...

On the other hand, fall=xmas time=omg awesome! Being here over xmas is absolutely fantastic.

edit: and it would seem to me they are offering this because the resort is not as busy and they guarantee 30 hours. By offering this, they are allowing people to move to the holiday season when it's busier.

Those are all good points. I do really like being there over christmas...busy as it is. But I wonder how fun it is to work there when it is busy from open to close for about a month straight.

It depends on your role, but you're still gonna get a day off. I think most CMs are still able to enjoy the festivities during the time the decorations and stuff are up.

Christmas in Disney is such an awsome time. I can't wait to go again this year!

It really is. Every so often I pull out Holiday Wishes and the holiday parades, even though it breaks my rule about not listening to Christmas music when it's not the season...
