Changing reservation based on weather?

We are surprising kids with a super short trip - 2 MK days and 1 pool day, staying at Contemporary for ease of MK. My question is, if we reserve MK but then see the weather that day would be better for a pool day can we change it? This is our first time going with the reservation system and I'm a bit confused on the flexibility (if there even is any)... alternatively, if we see it's going to rain on our pool day can we switch to MK last minute? Looking at the reservation system it seems like MK sells out a lot. Has anyone been able to make these sort of changes last minute with the way things are now?

You will be able to cancel and rebook your reservation if there is availability for the day and park you wish to change to.

This time of year in FL doesn't tend to be an all-day rain. It might rain a bit in the afternoon, then clear up. I would choose to alternate park and pool days, so you get a chance to relax. Disney involves a LOT of walking, so doing a pool day after 1 day at MK would be the way I would plan it.

You can check park availability on the Disney website now. Based on current availability I doubt you'll be able to spontaneously jump to MK on any given day. Maybe, but current conditions trend otherwise.

As others said, definitely check availability before changing anything.

You didn't say when you were going? That's an important part of the equation when asking about how to deal with the weather situation. We're into summer right now. That's the rainy season, as well as hurricane season. As others have said, in the summer, rain has a tendency to show up in the afternoon, blow through and be done with. That being said, our summer storms tend to have a lot of lightening which shuts stuff down and gets you kicked out of the pool for awhile. We also have "normal" rain during the summer that doesn't shut stuff down, but does make you pretty wet.
Hurricanes are a different story. Just because it's "hurricane season" doesn't mean we get one twice a month. Depending on where they come from, Florida might not even get any rain from them. If nothing else is true, Florida weather is unpredictable and you can really only plan about 3 days out, and then maybe not so much. I'm not going to cover the other seasons because the most unpredictable and volatile is summer. I think those above me have done a good job of covering the reservation side pf the equation.
If it's summer and you're going to go anyway, just roll with it.
