Changes to Garden Grill and LTT

We have ADR for lunch on Oct. 27th 12:10, We are spending the morning at Epcot going back to Pop after lunch so my DS4 and my DS2 can have a break and then going to MK for the evening. GG is the only TS meal we have ever been to and we loved it. Is there something you guys would recommend in a nearby resort or at Epcot (for the kids especially) for lunch? THANKS

Our other ADR's include:
Mama Melrose - Dinner
Chef Mickie's - Dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern - Dinner
Crystal Palace - Dinner
Hollywood and Vine - Lunch
Boma - Breakfast

My boys love Japan. It's dinner and a lil entertainment there. It's fun!

I wanted to do LTT the next time we went. I guess not. We try to do mostly character meals with the kids. Keeps them entertained!

I hate to be the dissenting opinion here but...I am not upset. The food was mediocre and this place is JAMMED with one tiny restroom on the second floor.I have gone at least 5 or 6 times (because my Dh liked it)The characters always seemed rushed and we hardly ever saw them all.Plus, as of now you have CRT ( which used to be characters at brkf only),LTT,and CP as character meals.Which leaves only Tonys and the Plaza as non-character ts.If they re-vamp the menu LTT could be a great thing.I do agree as of now that menu can not stand alone.

This isn't really news, we knew it was coming. Disney was just dragging their feet on an official announcement.

So I called this morning and it is true no lunch after october something so I change mine to dinner at 7:40 so i figure we would eat then go watch the light show and go back to the hotel so if you have lunch after we will say october 1st i would call. So the CM on the phone ask how i found out so I told him the Dis boards , he said what we didn't call you and i said no nothing yet and I don't think its right that they don't call or let you know, it's just not right, he agreed and said he was going to tell his boss, that they should start calling people. I just don't understand why they didn't set a date that has reached there 180 yet then stop the lunch why take reservations and then cancel them. I will never undestand it. I would not want to be the Cm's that have to call all these people up and say yes we are disney but we are stupid.
It just seems strange that they are only going to be open for dinner.

Time will tell how successful their plan for future of the restaurant will be. At this point, we know nothing more than it won't include characters. We don't know whether they'll change the menu, the pricing, the decor, or even whether they'll add more bathrooms.

I wish they would do this with the restaurant in the castle. Just one meal without the princesses, preferably dinner, would be so nice.
If I had to choose between dinner, without characters, at the castle versus LTT, I'd choose LTT. I like the decor better.

(Has anyone ever seen it busy at lunch when there are no characters?)

Yes, My family and I always go during lunch and it is always PACKED.. The food at lunch is fantastic, especially the Pot Roast (according to my Wife). I prefer the William Penn Pasta or the Burger.

One of the best burgers I've ever had.. The lunch prices are quite reasonable as well.

I don't think you're going to make Illuminations with a 7:40 dinner. Dinner is at least an hour and then the walk to WS. I had a dinner for 7:40 in May and showed up at 7:00, was sat at 7:15 and still didn't leave GG until 8:45. Maybe they have something earlier?

My guess..Never. Do you honestly think they are gonna pull ALL ADRS for GG that have lunch times and call everyone? Thats A LOT of people and no way would they do that. Theres gonna be a lot of people mainly those who dont read the boards that are gonna get to GG for their lunch ADR, only to find out they dont have an ADR anymore. Theres gonna be A LOT of complaints once Oct 6th hits. And Im sure we're gonna hear a lot of those complaints right here on the boards.

Oh yes, I already have a back up reservation. I am just wondering when they will let us know.

Me 2!! Im glad I decided to keep LTT for dinner 1 night this August. I ALMOST cancelled last night and then I saw the news on allears. :scared: Good thing I went to allears last night to check something on one of the menus.

Glad I'm booked in August for LTT!

They will let you know in a timely manner.

Allears just posted it yesterday.

Obviously (from some of the posts here) NOT all, if any, CMs are yet aware of the change.

Disney will contact the first-affected Guests FIRST, and move on from there.

When will they start? Couldn't say - but they WILL do it in advance, on a predetermined or yet-to-be-determined schedule.

I'm pretty surprised about WDW pulling the lunch at GG since it was always packed whenever we'd try to walk up or be in The Land. :confused3

I didnt know anything about it until last night. Apparantly so didnt a lot of other DISers. The ones posted on this thread and the ones I contacted last night that I saw who had ADRs for GG from the ADR thread. I went ahead and posted a message on POST #1 on the ADR thread incase anyone else dont know. If you dont read the news and rumors boards you arent gonna know these things.

Bummer! We were finally going to try LTT on our trip next March.

I have heard that Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer be offering character dining. Now I don't know about anyone else but, my family only eats here for the character dining - it sure is not for the food. To me this is the best place to see Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale. The characters always spend time with my son at the table (they are never in a hurry) plus, they come around numerous times throughout the dinner. My feelings are so hurt over this change - this is the only restaurant we eat at in Magic Kingdom. Does anyone else feel the same or is my family alone on this issue? Does anyone have an idea on why they would be doing away with the character dining?

Anyway, I guess we will enjoy our last supper with the Liberty Tree Tavern Characters in September! This is so sad! Anyone have other ideas for our future character dining experiences? (My son doesn't like princesses or Pooh)

No Characters? We would still go to LTT with or without. I love love love the rolls, salad, and stuffing! I'm craving it right now!!! :lovestruc
