Changes to cruise photos?

I tried searching, but wasn't able to find anything. How (if at all) have the Photos on the cruise changed since Disney took over photos and is doing them themselves? Price? Quality? What's available? Any major changes?

Last I read, the UK Staycation cruises were going to be the test runs for the new way of doing things, but I haven't heard since. Anything drastically different?

I guess I expected things to look more like park photos, but it sounds it's exactly the same as Shutters?

not sure exactly what changed but I felt our pictures were better quality with much better lighting. And the photographers were everywhere and much more available. The pictures from our 2019 cruise were really terrible from a quality and lighting standpoint. I was really happy with the shots we got on our 10/2 cruise.

I am so confused. We have never done the photo packages, but considering for the transatlantic. I assumed we could link our two rooms for either the unlimited photo package or the photobook - like they link rooms at Disneyworld for Photopass. We are one immediate family of five with two rooms, although two of the kids are technically Disney adults. My TA says we have to buy two photo packages. One person on our cruise facebook page says they have paid for one package for two or three linked rooms on previous cruises. Another person on our cruise facebook page says they have paid the discounted pre-paid unlimited photo price for one package and then on board paid half price for the second package. The pre-paid unlimited is $339.95, which I had almost talked myself into until I realized that I can't get a photo of my kids by themselves, etc. Does anyone have experience? I would call, but we all know how that is going right now.....

You can do one unlimited package if you have minor children in another stateroom. Otherwise you have to buy multiple packages.

You can do a discounted pre-paid for the first room and then all linked rooms get the discounted (half-price) package. You should still be able to cancel this during the cruise if you decide you don't want it. Although, that might mess up the others (realizing you only have 2 rooms so it doesn't matter).

In the past, we were able to add a few extra pictures of just grandparents in another room, but that wasn't guaranteed - just a nice CM (we had already bought 3 packages).

Did you guys who did the cruise photo package think it's worth it? With character greetings still distanced (right?), we've been going back and forth on whether or not to get the photo package. There were so many fun photo opportunities at the parks but I don't remember there being that many on the cruises (when I last sailed in 2019).

We did the full package in 2019 and we had close to 200 photos (8 nights on the Fantasy)...but we stopped at every opportunity including every night before dinner etc. I didn't do it on our for our 4 night in January (since there were only 2 of us and everyone was wearing masks). I've booked it for Alaska and we'll see what happens. If we don't like the pictures, I will cancel.

We did it on our cruise in 2019. We had three rooms between our family. I was able to link the room my oldest son (19 at the time) was in with my brother, but not my parent's room. I was able to send my parents any group photos or others they wanted and they purchased 2-3 of the ones of just the two of them that they really liked. It worked for us. I purchased again for our Alaskan cruise that is just the four of us this summer.

We did the package in December and loved it but it was our first cruise and I think a lot of people who had experienced cruises pre covid were not happy about character distancing protocols
