Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude-April 11-19, 2014-Day 9-Part 3 (updtd 6/29)

Philharmonic and Peter Pan are my favorites!!! I'm also super excited to see the new parade!!

Ice cream looks great- I've never gotten any from AG.

Your BOG dinners look yummy but I'm with you it does seem expensive if you didn't have dining plan. I'm still on fence about doing lunch there next month.... :/

And I put my foot up because it felt like it was going to explode.
That must have been the perfect ride for you then. Rest and elevation.

DS went to ride the train. He likes trains. When I checked in via text, I would get this message often. “I ride train. I like train.” He cracks me up.
:rotfl::lmao: Just goes to show... there's something for everybody. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

We finally got through the crowd in the gift shop and headed back in to the theater to watch Philharmagic again.
That seems like a ridiculous amount of rain. I mean, I've waited out storms in the parks before, but they typically don't last quite that long. At least you got to kind of take advantage of it and see Philharmagic twice. I love that show and I could watch it more than once each trip, although we really only make enough time to see it once.

This was something we had never done before.
What????? :scared1: Well, I'm glad you got to check it out. It certainly isn't an "every trip" attraction for me, but I do appreciate it for what it is and enjoy checking it out from time to time.

Because it was still so wet after all of the rain, several of the dancers and some of the floats were not present, but we enjoyed it anyway.
Kind of convenient that the rain at least let up in time for them to even have it. I'm glad you got to see it. I think this TR is the first pictures I've seen of that parade!

The restaurant is huge and sound carries, so it is kind of loud. In the main ballroom at least. It is a beautiful place, though. I would got back for lunch before I would make an ADR, though.
We thought the lunch there was fantastic. I think we're leaning that direction for our next trip. Too many ADR's we want and this way we can enjoy the restaurant and still eat at other TS places we want. And that QS lunch is one of the best around.:thumbsup2

Story of my life these days. I was fiannly able to get it into a regular shoe the other day. Baby steps.

He still moans about going to Disney though. He's a brat.

It was an absolute deluge. Crazy rain and wind.

I could never get the kids interested. So we finally got them to go since it was a great inside attraction to do while everyone else considered building an impromptu ark.

I was surprised they ran it, it was still a little drizzly. But we really enjoyed it.

We liked the lunch. I think the food is heavy for a super hot day though. They do have a salad, I think. The desserts are always good.

:welcome: I am glad you are here. The title comes form the Jimmy Buffet music they played at Old Key West a good bit. And I my attitude changed about the FP+. I hated it at first, but it worked out really well for us this past trip.

So glad it worked out, I am feeling much more at ease about FP+ with the new changes other then deciding which to select.

Philharmonic and Peter Pan are my favorites!!! I'm also super excited to see the new parade!!

I love them both as well. The new parade is AWESOME!!

Ice cream looks great- I've never gotten any from AG.

It was very filling

Your BOG dinners look yummy but I'm with you it does seem expensive if you didn't have dining plan. I'm still on fence about doing lunch there next month.... :/

It just depends upon which kind of food you like, I guess. I find it very heavy. They do have a salad though, I think. I wouldn't take my kids to eat lunch there and pay OOP. Just my opinion.

IAnd now you get to get more FP's after you have used one that you reserved. We didn't get that option this past trip, but I like that even better.

I got behind again...which is the story of my life lately.
I am so glad you got to see the new parade, even if it wasn't the whole thing. I am so in love with it now. We saw it twice and just can't get enough of it.
Your BOG dinner looks great. I found it wonder...the steak is really good. We also ate there twice this trip. I wish it wasn't so darn hard to get a reservation though.

I hear ya. Story of my life.

Since ours was so early - 4:45 PM - we had no trouble getting a ressie. DS did seem to like the steak a lot.

Day 5 – Part Four

So I left off with us finishing up dinner at Be Our Guest. After dinner we headed back to Old Key West and got a shower and DD and I went to bed early. We were exhausted. DH and DS – our resident vampires, went to see a movie. They went to Downtown Disney and saw Captain America.

They said it was really good.

And this ends day 5.

Day 6 – Part One

This was our rest day sort of. We slept in and that was nice. DH and I woke up before the kids, so we decided to go to Olivia’s for breakfast.

Olivia’s is Old Key West’s table service restaurant.

DH got some kind of breakfast platter. Eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast.

And I got pancakes. They came with sausage. Well you had a choice between sausage and bacon, I chose sausage.

Even though there were only three pancakes, I couldn’t eat them all. They were super yummy though.

After breakfast, we wandered around and took photos.

DD asked us to get her a muffin, so we ducked into the Conch Flatts General Store to get her one.

I also got this shirt

We wandered some more and took more photos. I just love the Mickey heads on the railings.

This is the bar

Quick service place.

Then we headed back to the room.

DH took DD to the pool for a while and I did some laundry and rested some. DS slept a lot and then he wandered up to Goods to go to get some lunch.

After “resting” most of the day, at about 2:30 PM, we got in the car and headed to Epcot.

Several years ago, I was talking with a CM who had worked at Disney for over 25 years. I asked him what his favorite restaurant on Disney property was and he said Olivia's. I've never eaten there, but have always wondered if it was worth a special trip. Your breakfasts look yummy!

When you purchase a DVC Member shirt, do you have to show proof that you are indeed a DVC Member? Just wondering.

OKW is so beautifully themed.. I dont think I have followed any TR's that have pics of that resort... Love all the bright colors and beachy theme!

Yay for a semi-rest day!

I guess staying up late to see Captain America translates into eating lunch for breakfast for your DS. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Honestly, that would drive me nuts. I'm kind of like your DH, I can stay up late, but I still have to get up somewhat early. 8 AM is sleeping in for me... 9 AM is extremely rare.

It does look like quite the relaxing morning at the resort though. :thumbsup2

We have eaten there several times and we always had a great meal there. I highly recommend.

I busted out my DVC card for the discount, but I really don't think they care. If you are spending money, it is all good.

I have several TR's from when we stayed there. I just love the theme.

You have to have a rest day.

You laugh, but you are right on target. This child never east breakfast.

I have to schedule a sleep in day or there will be a full on revolt. To tell the truth, I kind of need it myself.

It does look like quite the relaxing morning at the resort though. :thumbsup2

It was. A fairly low key day.

I can't believe I haven't had the time to check back in !!!!

Love your report like always.
We really liked BOG....we had the pork and both soups. I agree I wish for dinner they would do something for the noise... Like tale cloths.... The no table cloth annoyed me a bit.... Come n for that kinda of money ....give me a tale cloth.

I enjoyed your sons. Texts as much as your DHs photos from a couple of years ago !
I so wish we could have met up....we were so sick... I had the flu. At one point I took Tricia to DTD ( sat) and I told her if mommy passes out this is our information .. I had it n my phone room # etc..... I made it back on the boat back to POFQ .... It was terrible.....
I was also glad to see photos of e new parade. Now they just need to switch up move it shake it celebrate it.... It's getting old. I like the concept but the vision needs a change....
Waiting for more TR......

Ok, I just got caught up...beautiful pictures of the resort. After our AKL visit in 2017 (yes, I am planning that far away...don't judge me :lmao: ), I think OKW is next.

We are hoping to secure a reservation at BoG in June 2015. The food looks fab!! Here's hoping I can get one :goodvibes

Awesome photos! Awesome report so far!! Can't wait for more :) popcorn::

You would love OKW. I recommend renting a car if you stay there. Or stay near the Hospitality House.

Day 6 – Part Two

After “resting” most of the day, at about 2:30 PM, we got in the car and headed to Epcot.

We had a FP for Spaceship Earth, so we rode that first thing.

It stopped in just as we were getting to the Rome scene. It then started back up and we continued the rest of the ride in silence. It was lame. But, what can ya do?

We had some fast passes the we were waiting on, so DD wanted to do the Great Piggy Bank Adventure. She loves to do this activity.

It is a little game about saving money. She likes it.

Oh, I have to tell you this little story. While I am waiting, there is this little girl, maybe about 4 or 5 years old, in full on melt down. She wanted to go in and play the game with her older brother I think. Her exhausted mother was sitting on a bench nearby ignoring her. None of them spoke English. And in the middle of this hissy fit, she comes over – and she HITS me. On the leg. It didn’t hurt, but I was shocked. I looked over at her mother and she wasn’t even looking our way. THEN she starts climbing onto the back of my scooter. And this is where I kind of lost it. I yelled at her to get down and to get away from me. I told she was bad. I am sure she didn’t understand me, but WOW. She did understand that she needed to get away from me though. She ran to her mother who was still ignoring her and cowered next to her. What a brat.

Anyhoodle, after that, we headed over to Figment to ride that.

After that, we had an ADR at Garden Grill.

We really like it here. It is more fun to eat here when the restaurant spins, though. It wasn’t spinning on that day.

Characters came around right away.

DS was waaaay too cool for character photos. Or photos in general.

The rolls came. These rolls are sooo good. And the come with this butter that has maple syrup stuff in it and salt, too. So yummy.

And Farmer Mickey came around.

Then there was salad

The kids and I got soda to drink, but the DH just wanted water. The waitress said he could get a fancy water and that it was included in the dining plan, so he got one.

Here is the kids platter.

Baked chicken, macaroni and sweet potato fries. The fries were very yummy.

Adult platter

Steak, potatoes, turkey, stuffing, fish and steamed veggies.

It is a ton of food, but we really liked it.

For dessert, there were these for the kids.

The waitress called them cupcakes, but they were cones of pound cake with chocolate frosting. The kids loved them.

For the adults, we got a berry cobbler.

DH loves thing with berries, so this was a winner. I liked it, too.
At my photo limit, so I will stop here.

It drives me insane when parents refuse to discipline their children! Crazy that the mother wasn't even paying attention.

So Garden Grill is served family style? I much prefer that to buffets. With all the options in WS in Epcot, we've never eaten there. Looking at your photos, we may have to work that in sometime.

I was completely blown away by that kid. Her mother was obviously exhausted or otherwise not feeling well.

Yes, family style. It was a ton of food. Those are the kinds of meals that I think makes the dining plan worth it. We would have had to pay $198 OOP for the four of us. That is practically what we pay each day for the dining plan anyway. Plus, we get 4 QS and 4 snacks. So I think this meal was a good strategy in that regard.

Hi Susan :goodvibes Just getting caught up! Love all of your photos of the Garden Festival. I really need to get down there during that time to see it in person, but the spring crowds scare me away lol. Do you have an Etsy store by any chance? I bet you could sell all your sewing creations for a pretty penny. Looking forward to next update. Going through Disney withdrawal bad. Oh, and that was me who sent you the friend request on FB. -Amanda :cutie:
