Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude-April 11-19, 2014-Day 9-Part 3 (updtd 6/29)

Too fat.

Not now though!!

Love the Flower & Garden Festival.

Yes, everything is so lovely.

The egg hunt sounds like fun.

I really enjoyed it.

Oh the Rose slushie. I dream about that.

I know what you mean .... so yummy. Lorrie was asking which drink I would recommend and I said that one. She said you said the same thing. Great minds ...

Love the Jiminy mug.

Me too. Classic character. And yo don't find a lot of merch with him on it, so I snatched up up.

Cape May is a good place to eat.

We have never been disappointed there

Nice she found those treats for you.

It was really nice of her. We certainly appreciated it.

I need to try CHH.

You do!!

All caught up again.

Yay!!!

You know we haven't done POOH with our children yet.. I am like you, it just doesnt really appeal but maybe we should do it next trip? :confused3

CHH food looks appetizing! You really have me wanting to start doing the sharing of the food!

I adore the Pooh ride. It is absolutely precious. It seems like the queue is a good place to get sick is all.

CHH food looks appetizing! You really have me wanting to start doing the sharing of the food!

I highly recommend sharing. There is always more than enough.

So I made this the other day and I just wanted to share. I love how it turned out!!

And the back with a pocket for your cell phone.

Fun, huh?

Very cute!

I like finding reports with teens/tweens since that's what I have! DD12 would have liked those playgrounds too, even more so at 11. She also has a large collection of Build a Bears and they all have their own personalities. 12.5 seemed to be a bit of a turning point for her- when she graduated from Disney Princess to Avengers- hey at least it's still Disney!

We need to try CHH too. DD12 and I don't do fish, but we could do chicken and DD15 and DH will love the shrimp.

Can't wait for the BOG dinner report- we have an ADR in a couple of weeks!

thanks for stopping by. yes, it always helps to read a report about kids that are the same age as yours. I love that mine still like little girl things sometimes. I am not in any hurry for her to grow up since that happens so quickly. She can stay a little girl forever as far as I'm concerned. Keep them as innocent as you can for as long as possible, I say. She goes to middle school next year so I imagine huge changes are in store for us. I remember liking my dolls and Little People when I was twelve and have to play with them by myself because my sister was too old for that baby stuff.

And speaking of sisters and growing up - I was born in Iowa and we moved away when I was 12. About where are you located? I still have about 35 cousins who live there.

The chicken is good and the portions are huge. Neither of our kids could eat all of their food. Which is another reason why DH and I share. We can eat what is left on their plates.

Can't wait for the BOG dinner report- we have an ADR in a couple of weeks!

I will try to get that typed up soon!!

Day 5 – Part Two

After our delicious lunch at CHH, we head towards Peter Pan for our fast pass we had for it.

We rode that and headed over to Tomorrowland to ride the Blue Train as we call it.

DD was not being photo friendly.

And I put my foot up because it felt like it was going to explode.

I just love this ride.

After that, DD wanted to ride Stitch, which I don’t care for. So they rode

After that, we scored some ice cream at Auntie Gravitiy’s

Snack credits, people!! Gotta use them up, right? I love the ice cream here. It is the dense creamy soft serve.

Then we rode the Blue Train again.

DD wanted to get her face painted so we did that.

After this is where we felt the first rain drop.

Just a sprinkle though. Nothing to worry about, right? We headed back to New Fantasyland for our FP for Little Mermaid.

DS went to ride the train. He likes trains. When I checked in via text, I would get this message often. “I ride train. I like train.” He cracks me up.

Anyway, they were running the Mine Train with no people in it.

It was so quiet. You could barely hear it moving. We can’t wait to ride it in September.

At this point the rain was picking up – A LOT. So we head into Philharmagic to get out of the weather.

The Phil !!!

After the show, we headed out and just as we are exiting the theater – we hit a wall – of people. Everyone had gathered under the overhang because it was POURING outside. An absolute deluge, a frog strangler, a genuine Baptist downpour. Puddles inches deep in the walkways. Yeah, no. We weren’t going out in that. I didn’t want to get the scooter that wet and I also didn’t want to get my walking boot wet.

So we tried to get through the gift shop and it was PACKED with people. Most of them were trying to buy ponchos which we had in my bag. I texted DS to see where he was and they had shut down the train and he was at the Storybook gift shop. “I need pancho” he texted to me. So funny. He thought that is how it was spelled, but I just got tickled over this text for some reason. I told him to stay put until the rain let up. We finally got through the crowd in the gift shop and headed back in to the theater to watch Philharmagic again.

This time exiting the theater was worse and we were all forced to move down by the fast pass machines to wait it out. It was really raining hard. After about 30 minutes, it let up and we headed over to the gift shop to round up DS.

The rain picked up again so we stayed there about another 30 minutes. Another let up and we headed over to Hall of Presidents.

This was something we had never done before. And I was glad we had the chance to do it. And it was great place to go and wait out the storm.
After that, we headed outside where the rain had finally stopped and they were setting up for the parade which was delayed because of the rain. At this point, it is 4:15 PM and we had dinner at 4:45 PM. It wasn’t crowded and we had a front row seat, so we decided to wait for the parade. At 4:30 PM I was getting nervous. I really wanted to see the parade, but we were getting close to our ADR. Finally, we heard the music and could see the floats in the distance. We had not seen the new parade yet, so we really wanted to watch. Well, most of us anyway.

I was ready !!!

Coming up!! Festival of Fantasy Parade photos and Be Our Guest dinner.

"And speaking of sisters and growing up - I was born in Iowa and we moved away when I was 12. About where are you located? I still have about 35 cousins who live there."

About 45 miles west of Des Moines near I-80. Stuart and Greenfield are nearby, but they're pretty small towns.

We are from Sioux City. I have an uncle that lives near Des Moines and a cousin in Ankney. Several cousins still in Sioux City and I want to say at least 20 of them went to UNI or ISU. I have a HUGE family and I have about 43 first cousins. It is fun.

You've never been to the Hall of Presidents? That was our napping and cooling off spot when our kids were younger. I've always enjoyed seeing new presidents added to the show.

That ice cream looks delicious. Now I'm craving soft serve!

Cute little catface daughter!

Any idea on how much longer you'll be in the boot? That has to be uncomfortable with the weather getting warmer.

I have been there for those deluges. Not even a poncho can keep you dry. I am still trying to get a picture from my aunt that is of me, soaked to the waist from a deluge. Evidently my very wet backside was funny to her.

And Crystal with softball. She wanted to play and then decided she hates it again. There are a couple of girls who have the attitude I am better than you are - you can't play type of girls on the team. I told her to just ignore them, there are 15 more girls on the team and they all can't play well. I did tell her she can quit after this year.

Of course her father and I had a huge argument yesterday so I am praying I'll still be able to see the kids. He bans people from his house including his own father and sister. He is the ultimate bully but he has met his match as I don't back down.

No we haven't, so I was glad we got to see it. I also haven't done Ellen's Energy in Epcot either. I always want to try it, but I always get veto'd

I always get a root beer float. Soooo yummy!!

I just took the boot on that trip for extra support and it really did help with that. I had been out of it for a couple of weeks at home. I don't need it now, thank goodness.

That happens here as well, so we were used to it. We knew it would let up eventually. Part of living in the south.

We have tennis teams like that. I say switch to a different team.

Good for you. I hate a bully.

Day 5 – Part 3

When I last left off, we were waiting for the Festival of Fantasy parade to come. We were right outside the Hall of Presidents and had a great spot right on the rope. I was surprised they didn’t just cancel it, but we heard it coming down the road. Because it was still so wet after all of the rain, several of the dancers and some of the floats were not present, but we enjoyed it anyway.

After that, we hurried over to Be Our Guest to get some dinner. We were a few minutes late for our ADR, but that didn’t seem to matter. The podium had a line and we were like 10th in line, so we relaxed.

DD picking his nose

We were led down to the end of the bridge and our name was called. I have no idea what they would have done if it were still pouring outside.

We were seated in the Ballroom

DH and I shared some french onion soup.

DD ordered an adult portion of the kids macaroni.

I got the shrimp and scallops in phyllo. I asked them to leave off the lobster sauce because I am allergic to lobster.

This was good, but I know it would have been better with a sauce. And since they didn’t offer an alternative for the lobster sauce, this was just OK. A sauce would have definitely improved it.

DS got steak

Everything on this plate got scarfed in 5 minutes except the veggies. He did eat some of the green beans. I had the veggies.

DH got the chicken.

Chicken Breast Provencal - pan-seared and simmered in a rustic blend of heirloom tomatoes, olives, white wine and fresh herbs with seasonal vegetables and roasted fingerling potatoes

He said this was very tasty.

For dessert, DS and DD got the Grey Stuff. It was cookie cream with a chocolate cake base.

There was nothing left of either of these.

DH got a cream puff. I think it was a chocolate one.

Very yummy.

And I got the Lemon Cupcake

So yummy.

Our overall impression of this place it that it was OK. We are really glad we tried it and the food was good, not blow your mind great, but good. OOP this would have been almost $200 and it wasn’t worth that. Our server was very good and accommodating for the allergies.

The restaurant is huge and sound carries, so it is kind of loud. In the main ballroom at least. It is a beautiful place, though. I would got back for lunch before I would make an ADR, though. This is just our opinion and if you have an ADR here, please go and make your own impression. You might LOVE it.

I think we liked the desserts best.

At my photo limit, so I will stop here.

Very nice Festival of Fantasy photos! Some of those floats are very tall!

Last Fall, we couldn't get an adr at BOG for dinner and the lunch lines were insane. Now that they're giving lunch reservations, I'm thinking that may be the way to go next trip. While your dinner looks good, I think I'd rather save the table credit for another place.

Did you meet the Beast after dinner?

Enjoying your your report, was interested to read your review of BOG this is somewhere we really can't decide if we want to do or not. I think we may look at doing the lunch as the food looks quite heavy for being in the Florida sunshine (for an English girl)

They are HUGE. Some of them barely fit on the road. And I don't see how that dragon doesn't set things on fire. We didn't get a photo, but it actually breathes fire. It is bada**.

That is what I would do.

Did you meet the Beast after dinner?

We could have, I guess, but we were just ready to get back to the room. It had been a long day for us.

The food is heavy at lunch as well in my opinion.

Loving your TR :)

Thanks!! So glad you are following along!!

Following along. Enjoying you TR so far.

:welcome: I am so happy you stopped by!!

Followed you over from US/IOA group since we are doing the dark side this year and well, with your catchy title, I had to read (we are Parrot heads.)
What a fun TR. Enjoying reading.

:welcome: I am glad you are here. The title comes form the Jimmy Buffet music they played at Old Key West a good bit. And I my attitude changed about the FP+. I hated it at first, but it worked out really well for us this past trip.
