Sorry if this is a repeat - scanning the subjects didn't answer my question....

Just back from MK where they have walled off the 20,000 Leagues area as well as the old skyride building area. Any rumors of what is going in those places? Or is Disney just saving money from landscaping contractors?

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a continuously moving underwater ride where they'd seal you off then do something with Atlantis (underrated flick)?

Seriously what's up over there?

Here's the thread on the former Submarine Ride area.

specifically 20K is going to become a garden that will open this november, 98% in character meet and greet format, and since it is a garden most now think it is going to be pooh. Others stand by princesses. I say I don't care.

Another "meet and greet"? NO! I am so sick of all these meet and greets. I want rides and attractions not people dressed for Halloween year round.

I was told my someone who should know that it'll be pooh themed and have a "place for toddlers to blow off steam"

Isn't that what Toon Town is for?

I am really bummed out that they are just putting up a meet and greet/playground.

I was so hoping that this would become a new ride. I don't even know how to express how disapointed I am. Esp. since if they are spending all this money making this a meet and greet area, they probably plan on keeping it that way for some time. :(

next thing you knoe they'll demolish all rides and turn them into meet-and-greet area... and still charge $50 a pop to enter the park.

Oh btw, the fireworks will be replaced by a scheduled-meet-and-greet session.

If they're from the bad end of the human genepool, maybe they could seal people off and do something from Titanic?

Not quite on topic but, when Animal Kingdom first opened, an often made suggestion was "more opportunities to see Disney characters" [as opposed to real animals]. So soon thereafter a meet and greet area was opened.

Disney hints:

I was hoping for another ride too. When we talked I specifically asked about the 20k site and was told with out hesitation, playground. I was told that it was determened that MK doesn't really have much for the real itty bittys. (?!?!?!) The under 3 set are confined to strollers and are dragged on attractions that they don't really enjoy. (In this case I sorta agree, my ds really didn't enjoy any rides until he was 3, at 2 I couldn't get him on anything without him freaking) Toon town is really over crowded so I guess they are making a second spot.

It makes sense to pair it with a meet and greet...the 100 Acre Wood edition of Toon Town.

I was definately hoping for a sub rehab (Nemo or Atlantis) but as I parent I can sorta see where the extra relax space is needed. Some people just aren't willing to leave and head back to the hotel especially day guests and some off-siters.

I don't claim to be an inside source on anything. All I know is that in this instance I asked someone who should be "in the know" point blank about the space and this is what I was told. The only reason I'm hesitant to say who I talked to is because I'm not 100% certain that they were allowed to tell and I know Disney does look online for such things so I don't want to cause anyone trouble.

I wouldnt imagine it's going to be for princesses b/c they just opened a princess meet and greet in toontown (i believe). I agree with the over abundance of meet and greets, and I also feel like they should be put in secluded areas like toon town b/c they do draw big crowds and get in the way of people trying to get passed.

They will eventually enlarge Toontown so it more resembles the Toontowns in Anaheim or Tokyo. Everyone acknowledges that the Toontown Fair in Orlando is weak.
The meet and greet is only temporary.

I was hoping they'd build the underwater Ariel adventure that they show at Disney Seas. Would have made sense considering they built Ariel's Grotto right there and all. Another meet and greet. Ho hum. As usual, Disney goes for the cheapest they can get away with. Guess they have to keep up with Universal's playgrounds.

Does anyone know if Disney is planning any type of attraction around Finding Nemo, besides what is already at the Living Seas in Epcot?

Character Caravan replaces Wishes. THAT'S what Guests REALLY want. ;) :jester:

Why do we need something for the under-3 year olds? They get in free so shouldn't have any complaints about not getting their money's worth!!!

The only hope I see in this is that the old 20k show building was not torn down. Perhaps someday they will put another attraction there, but there are no rumors of that right now.

That space has been open for so long, it seems like such a waste. I don't understand why they wouldn't put something in there unless perhaps its not up to building codes anymore?

Was at MK today and a friend snapped some pictures over the wall into the former 20k area. Anyone interested in checking them out I posted them at: http://www.geocities.com/troyn96/wdw.html
The wall around the skyway station is gone. It looks like they enlarged the paved area and have a 'stroller parking' sign on the entry arch. Also got to see a sneak preview of "Stitch" today as well. It felt like the old AE building as the floor plan was not altered. Definitly a lot tamer show then the old one.
