I'm trying to get a studio at HHI for June 29-July 3. I called today and got one night... Friday the 2nd. That was the easy one. What do you all think my chances are of getting the weekday nights? I told them to confirm each night as it opens up, so hopefully I've given myself the best chance possible. Anyone care to opine?

On another note, I told them I use a wheelchair and need a studio with NO STEPS. BUT, I prefer a regular (non-handicapped) studio. She said the only studios with no steps are in the main building (which I knew), but they're ALL handicapped. Is that true?

Hi Jessica-

I don't think you'll have a problem getting your reservation if you book day by day. I called a the 7 month mark for trip last year in July and had no problem.

Not sure about the handicapped room question-I'm sure you will get an answer here tho.

No, the studios are not all handicapped in the main building. There are some there with the roll in shower and seat, but I've stayed in most of them, and perhaps the person was trying to tell you that the studios are pretty roomy with wide doorways and most if not all in the main building should be spacious enough to handle your chair. The main building has an elevator.
Good luck with getting your reservation!:earsgirl:

Judique,

Yeah, the rep at MS told me ALL the studios in the main building have the roll-in shower and bench seat. That's actually MORE difficult for me to use. If you're telling me there are at least some studios in the main building that have the standard shower/tub combo, I'll call back and specify in my request that for medical reasons I need main building non-hp room.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure, that other than the main building (Live Oak Lodge) all accommodations there require going up steps. The lodge has an elevator.

The MS rep did not give you accurate information. The studio we had in the lodge last year was NOT accessible. It had the standard tub/shower in the bathroom, bed standard height, etc. From what I remember the doorways and the bathroom were large enough for a wheelchair to manuveur.

Aha! This was just the information I wanted, TIdoublegaER. That's exactly the type of room I want. I'll be calling MS tomorrow to request a non-hp room in the main lodge for medical reasons.
