Celebration Round Up and BBQ

They actually have restrooms there, facing the barn they are on on the left hand side so no problem to wash your hands. We were there in October and they had a show going on and we got to decorate a cookie with our DD who was then 3 and a half for around $6.00 + tax. The cookie wasn't that good, but you could wander in and out without actually buying anything and sit and watch the show, and also get pictures with Woody and Jessie. Roundup was part of the show, but when it was over he left, so no pictures with him. The kids also got to color a couple of different Halloween type things.

I just looked at the pics. The picture of the veggie skewer looks just like the one I always get at BBQ only it has BBQ sauce all over it.

It all sounds good but I don't think we'll be paying that much for it.

Yeah, that was the Woody's Halloween Round-Up you went to, and then during the holidays, they have Santa's Reindeer Round-Up. I was just saying to another DIS'er the other day that I am wondering what will happen this year in terms of the Halloween Round-Up and the Reindeer Round-Up. When you think about it, Celebration just opened. It would literally have to be transformed into the Halloween Round-Up by the end of September, and then after Halloween, they would have to begin the transformation into the Reindeer Round-Up to get that opened by November 20. That's only 5-1/2 months of the Celebration Round-Up being active, and that seems unlikely, doesn't it? Maybe they will skip the holiday round-ups this year?? This is a very awkward year in terms of things kind of backing up on each other. We don't know yet if the Haunted Mansion Holiday will happen due to the regular HM's 40th anniversary events. I am not sure if the IASW Holiday will take place because of the new Disney doll additions that they want to showcase and draw attention to. And now the Celebration BBQ may override the Halloween Round-Up and Reindeer Round-Up - OR only be open for 5-1/2 months, which seems silly. So it will be interesting to see how the rest of the year plays out.

Oh, and I just showed the Mouse Planet pictures of the BBQ to my friend in Idaho, who used to love Disneyland and all things Disney. Her response was: "Could Disney get any MORE expensive?" Then she went on to say that it's good her child is under 3 or else she wouldn't even bother going because there is no way he would eat $18 worth of food - and she is right. When he does turn 3, they will not be doing the character meals and the BBQ, because it is just TOO much money. And this is a woman who used to LOVE our trips to DLR and Goofy's Kitchen in the old days. Sadly, the prices are very daunting for people - especially NOW.

hmmmm...now I'm really torn. My DD19 and DS15 and I are supposed to be going to this next Thursday for dinner. I was told when I booked that tax and tip were included, and now I find out it's not, which really brings the price up. I was also given the impression that it was all-you-can-eat, and from the reviews it sounds like you are definitely limited with the meat part of the meal...which, for almost $35/person, they should let you eat as much as you want. I also believe, as the previous poster's said, that the show and venue should be more "exclusive feeling". While I can afford the cost, it's what you get for that price that bugs me...should we or shouldn't we...that's what I've got to figure out. Thanks to everyone who's posted links and reviews...they really help a lot.

DisneyLoren can you just clarify the meat portion? Did you get two peices of chicken and two ribs for each of you or to share?

Thanks for all the great info!! I am planning on going to the Celebration Roundup in September with a group for my birthday. Expensive, yes, but I'm turning 40 and need something to cheer me up!!!! I was a little worried because my mom has a couple of issues, #1 she's vegetarian & #2 she has a disability & I don't think she could sit at a traditional picnic bench. Great to know #1 there's a vegetarian option & #2 we can request a bench with a removable seat!!!

I love these boards!!!!!! You all are the best!! :cheer2:

Thanks for the info, DisneyLoren. Welcome to Dis.

You need to get to 10 posts to put up photos. Here's a tip: Answer each person's question separately. You will get to 10 quickly and then can post your photos. We are all a bit patient with "excessive posting" to get to 10 when someone is new. :goodvibes

When the PhotoPass photographer took your picture at the entry, were they willing to take the picture with your camera as well? When we were at WDW, the PP photographers were willing to do so everywhere EXCEPT one of the character meals we went to so I am wondering if it was the same.

Thanks,
Dreams

My guess is that they allow you to view from outside to try to entice people to come in and purchase. As people have posted, it may end up backfiring unless the food is that good or they don't have Woody, Jesse or Roundup roaming around outside the venue....

Regardless, we are going May 6 and I'm still excited. This will be our only 'special/character' meal this trip so I'm ok with the price.

We are going May 9th for DS's 6th birthday dinner and it will also be our only character meal this trip. I think the price is okay assuming the stage show is entertaining. I can see that the show could really be a hit with my kids.

BBQ chicken and ribs, sitting outside at a picnic table(possibly sharing it with others), with some entertainment(which there is already plenty included for free with park admission) for $30+ a person. I'll pass. All of a sudden, the "real" character meals even with their increased pricing, look like a bargain.

Hey, Tass

Sorry, I should have been more clear. You get two pieces of chicken and two ribs EACH. :)

I do have to say that, when I left there, I was full. And, again, as for the food, it was very good and some of the best I've had at the park.

LOL, Dreams! I think I'm getting close to 10 posts, so, hopefully, I can post my link to photos soon.

Yes, they let you take pictures with your camera as well and they don't force you to buy their pictures...although, they did come back repeatedly to ask if we were sure we didn't want them. But, to be honest, I was tempted to get the photos because the little cardboard sleeve they put them in was really cute (it looked like a stylized barn) and the photo is "signed" by the character you take your picture with. They were also very nice about letting me take pictures with other characters as they cycled out of the queue. So, I got pictures with Jessie, Woody, Bullseye, Chip n' Dale.

I'll put it this way -- it's definitely worth going to once. I want to reiterate that the food IS great...and, perhaps, some of the best I've had at the park. And, as I said to my friend, I got to take a picture with Bullseye and I've never seen him in costume wandering around the park before. So, that was special. I'd love to hear what others thought if they try out the restaurant.

I can also imagine that they need to work out some kinks. As I said, I went on opening day and they're still trying to figure out what works with folks.

Have fun!

LOL!

Although, for the record, I don't think they make you share your food with other people, just a table. But, if people go now and eat at an off time, you'll probably have room for everybody in your party to have their own table. :)

Cool. And which is your favorite character of the above? (One post to go until you hit 10! :goodvibes)

ok so as long as i have one kid we get the celebrate deluxe bag (the canvas bag full of pop up castle an stuff?

Great posts Loren, thank you for sharing. My DD is 12 so my question would be would she get that celebration bag? Because I think she would like one too.....so unfair that 12 and under are considered adults, there is NO way my DD12 could eat enough food to cover that price.....
