cd rom tray won't close?

my son was playing a stanley cd-rom on my computer earlier. dh says they took it out and tried to insert a different one, but the tray won't stay closed...it opens immediately. we've tried shutting the computer down and restarting, no luck. I've tried several different cd-roms and the same thing happens. any ideas?

Have you tried removing the driver for the cd rom and then reinstalling it?

no I haven't yet...not sure where my drivers are.

no help just some sympathy. My dd used ours as a step-stool and snapped it off. You can't replace just the tray, you have to buy the whole drive!
