CC's Weight Loss Journey

Ok, so after 2 parties in 2 days, I'm up 3.4 pounds and back over 140, so still 23 POINTS. The good news is that my sister is going to exercise with me now that she is done with grad school. My goal for the week, despite the holiday, is to lose at least 2 pounds. I know I can do it.

Here's how I did today.
Eating: Eat 22 POINTS plus at least 1/2 of the APs earned that day.
- aka: I earned 4 APs so I must eat 24 POINTS.
I ate 25 POINTS and earned 2 APs. Perfect!

Daily Good Health Guidelines Targets:
- Drink 6 8 oz. glasses of liquids. Check!
- Eat/drink 2 dairy servings. Only 1
- Eat 2 additional protein servings. Check!
- Eat 1 of 2 servings of oil. Check!

Activity: Earn at least 1 AP per day with the aim being 4 APs per day. Some suggestions include:
- 10,000 steps (1 AP) Got in over 13,000 for 2 APs
- The 30-Day Shred (2 APs)
- 15 minutes on the exercise machine in my basement (2 APs)
- 20-30 min. leisurely walk (1 AP)
- The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start exercise program (1-2 APs)
- A The Biggest Loser DVD

Other Goals:
1. Avoid chocolate. Check!
2. Wear my pedometer dailiy. Yep!
3. Go to the gym at least 3 times. 0/3 so far
4. Do The 30-Day Shred at least 5 times. 0/5 so far
5. Eat as few of my WPA/APs as possible. 2 eaten so far
6. Plan my breakfast and lunch in advance. Not so much
7. Write in my tracker and WISH Journal daily. Yep!
8. Take a multivitamin and a calcium and magnesium supplement daily. Calcium yes, other 2-no

These look doable. Hoping I'll achieve more of my goals this week...

Overall, I can't complain about today. I'm hoping for an even better day tomorrow. My sister and I are going to do The 30-Day Shred together and I'm hoping to get in 10,000 steps again. I'll probably also spend some time shoveling. I'd also love to get in a Biggest Loser DVD workout and 10-15 minutes on the machine in the basement. I'm hoping for 4 APs tomorrow. Sundays usually bring more food, but probably not with the snowstorm coming in, so breakfast will be my usual oatmeal with a diced up apple and lunch will be a roast beef sandwich. Dinner is chicken with carrots and yams. My father is making stuffing, but I'm not planning to eat any. Well, I'm off to bed. I'm quite exhausted.
 
Having a buddy to keep you motivated is great. I hope that you and your sister find a great schedule to follow- and the goal is just to stick with it!

Sorry the scale didn't go in the direction you wanted, but taking the time to journal and keep going is what's going to get you to your goal. Congratulations...not giving up is half the battle!

I have to work on increasing my water tomorrow. I'm going to try to get in a workout before I shower in the morning. Plus, I'd love to get in a short walk during my lunch or afternoon break. I'm hoping for 10,000 steps tomorrow.

Time to menu plan for tomorrow.
Breakfast:
- 1 cup cooked oatmeal
- 1 medium apple (diced)
- 1 tsp. canola oil
- 1 cup fat-free milk
- cinnamon 6 POINTS
- 8 oz. water

Lunch:
- 2 oz. lean roast beef
- Pepperidge Farm Deli Thin
- 1 large orange 4 POINTS
- 16 oz. water

Dinner:
- small hamburger (93% lean beef)
- Deli Thin
- no sugar added pickles
- tbsp of ketchup
- mustard
- 1 cup of milk
- some type of veggie (probably salad or broccoli)
- multivitamin, etc.
- 8 oz. water 8 POINTS

Ok, so that gives me the following Good Health Guidelines:
- whole grains
- 1/2 oils
- avoiding sugars, alcohol, etc.
- dairy
- protein
- multivitamin
- 6 liquids
- at least 5 fruits/veggies
and leaves me 5 POINTS for the rest of the day to use at my discretion. And, that's without using any of my WPA or APs. And, I'm hoping to earn at least 3 APs tomorrow. I have used 9.5 of my WPA/APs so far, so it couldn't hurt to earn a few APs that I don't eat. Well, I'm exhausted so I'm off to bed. Need to be awake early to get in some exercise. LOL

Today was an ok day. I'm going to summarize it quickly here. I ate 31 and earned 0 APs. My ped.ometer and I didn't get along too well today and even though I got a lot of walking in, I don't have an accurate count of my steps. I know I got in at least 4,000, which is better than some days. I got in a lot of liquids today, but almost half was diet soda, so I want to change that for tomorrow. Today was another day without chocolate! Tonight was pizza night. I really have to find a way to indulge without eating as many POINTS (although I have them), but still make feel satisfied. I put chicken breast on it, perhaps I should have put more on it. Also, I used fat-free cheese and may have been better off using part-skim. I'm exhausted and it's still early, so I'm off to menu plan for tomorrow.

I did a good job eating as a little chcolate as possible during dessert the last few days. I am just a little excited about getting a Wii for Christmas. I played a few roads of bowling last night and am hoping to do the same tonight. I'm not going to count it as exercise. I just want to get used to the Wii Remote. I'm also planning to buy The Biggest Loser Wii game, but first, the Wii Fit and balance board. I got a gift certificate to Wal-Mart and the ad for starting tomorrow is already posted online. It's not the greatest price, but probably as good as it is going to get for post-Christmas. The weather looks good for tomorrow, so hopefully, I'll be able to buy it tomorrow. I also got a gift certificate to CVS. I think I'm going to spend it on a medicine organizer so I remember to take my multivitamin/supplements each day. I'm hoping for a really great week.

I suggested going to CVS today, but the weather is kind of iffy and it's so dark so early that I figured it could wait until tomorrow. I looked into purchasing the Wii Fit Plus with the balance board today. I've been searching for the best deal in consideration of my gift certificates to Wal-Mart and Target. I'm hoping to go out and buy that and the Biggest Loser game tomorrow. I think I'm going to write out my plan for tomorrow. I really don't feel like exercising tonight. It's that TOM. I'll be sure to get lots in tomorrow.

Plan for 12/27/09
Breakfast:
- 1 cup cooked oatmeal
- 1 cup of fat-free milk
- 1 medium diced apple
- 1 tsp. canola oil
- 8 oz. water 6

Lunch:
- 16 oz. water
- I'm going to a party. I think it's going to be lasagna.

Dinner:
- sirloin roast
- baked potato
- 16 oz. water
- multivitamin/supplements 8

Ok. That means I've eaten:
- whole grains
- dairy
- 1/2 oils
- protein
- fruits/veggies
and avoided alcholol, etc., gotten in exercise, drank at least 6 liquids, and taken my multivitamin. Sounds like a good day.

Also, my to-do list.
- Buy a Wii Fit/balance board.
- Earn 2 APs from exercise plus 1 for 10,000 steps
- Go to CVS.
- Get some magazines from the library.
- Go to Mass.
- Make my app for the party.

It'll be a busy day, but a good day. Looking forward to a good day tomorrow.

Hope you don't mind that I popped in. Just wanted to check out the other journals. You will probably have a lot of fun with the Wii. I just started the Wii Sports Active 30-day challenge earlier this week, and I love the Wii Fit games (been doing those for months now on and off).

Glad you did. Would you be willing to tell me more about the Wii Fit? Good games/exercises? Anything? Thanks! I can't wait to buy it. I'm really hoping that the weather will hold up and I can go out tomorrow.
 
I hope you're able to pick up the games you like. Another suggestion is to go to Amazon and read the reviews of each game system...I like to read the good and bad, to get a balanced view...
 
The main three fitness games for the Wii Fit seem to be Wii Fit (which has an enhanced version now), My Fitness Coach, and EA Sports Active which also has an enhanced package now. I have Wii Fit and Sports Active. Fit is more like a bunch of games that focus on balance and a little bit of cardio. Sports Active is more structured...for example, the thing I am doing now is a 30 day challenge where it sets up routines for you and runs you through a changed-up routine each day. It uses the Wii Fit balance board for some of the stuff, like the tennis and in-line skating. My Fitness Coach sounds like a glorified DVD but it lets you use things you have already, like weights, balance ball, etc. I might get that one eventually.

There is also a Gold's and a Biggest Loser Wii game I have heard good things about and a Jillian Michaels one that got totally panned last year. Not sure if this year's version is better.
 
Bad day. I'm not going to say anything more than that. Tomorrow, I start fresh. I will get in all my liquids and hope to get in 10,000 steps. Here is my plan for tomorrow:

Breakfast:

The only thing left to say about today is that I may be able to salvage it if I earn about 20 APs and stay at 23 POINTS per day. Weigh-in isn't until Friday (for BL9) so I have a chance. Hoping for a great day tomorrow.

I ate breakfast! I had my usual oatmeal with a diced up apple, but no canola oil. Got in 2 liquids too!
 
hope you are feeling better....make sure to drink those liquids! when you're feeling your strength back - hopefully you'll get those steps back in too...
