Category 4D fantasy - room 6620 or 7624?

I currently have room 6620 booked for our April cruise on the Fantasy.

Has anyone stayed in that room? Can you see down to the water from the balcony? Is there a big obstruction - my understanding is there is some but not much. Can you hear the noise from the kids club?

Should I try to switch to 7624 - same room 1 floor above?

Should I switch to something over the lifeboats to avoid the obstruction?

Or am I worried about nothing and should stop looking at rooms:)

It's my first time cruising and am overwhelmed by the room choices!

Thanks!

Welcome. :cool1:

I didn't see any room reports on cabins noted. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomlist.cfm
You can see down to the water in any balcony cabin, the only question is at what projected angle. Being above a lifeboat on 6 will have the greatest angle. Being on deck 11 or 12 on the bumpout will have the least. Category 4e next least. The hull at deck 5 protrudes out about 12 - 18 feet affecting most cabin's ability to see directly down to water. I personally would prefer to be between the lifeboats with the skin than directly above on deck 6. If I was to choose from the two cabins I pick 7624. However I would also be fine directly over the lifeboats on deck 7 and above.

From your post it sounds like you have done your homework seen all this, but ...

Only you can determine your priority. More obstructed view down over lifeboat, or better view down but balcony skin.

Like I said, I would pick 7620 if available, or higher, over either.

We stayed in 6616 on the Dream, which is close enough to compare, I think. We loved it. Super quiet, nice view. You have lifeboats below you but they do not obstruct the view down to the water. My kids liked seeing the "yellow submarines" every day. :). I would book a room in that general area on either the Dream or Fantasy again.

Thanks!!

I was trying to find rooms with the skin directly looking into water. I did find a review on 7624 for the dream which says it is in between the boats. That would hold true for the fantasy right?

7620 would be over a boat but no skin according to the pics.

Appreciate the help:)

Yes. True for Fantasy and Dream as they are sisters.

Yes. 7620 directly over lifeboats, but no skinage according to current photos/info.

The link to exterior photos with cabins numbers labeled, the photos were taken just out of the shipyard, therefore most of the skin was not installed on the exterior on the verandas. However, you can look at the photos and see where the skin is/will be installed vertically between the lifeboats, vertically up to the gaps between the glass bumpouts for the pool deck 11. If that makes sense.

Fwiw another diser pointed out that the skinage on the veranda would be less of an issue if, when you were seated on the couch in cabin, the skin would be behind you, rendering the skin moot, in cabin (view wise). I felt this is very insightful. And helpful to minimize/compensate for said skinage.

This theory fails unfortunately with both initial cabin numbers mentioned somehow according to my research.

To figure where the couch/bed is located you look closely at the deck plans and locate the indent in the hallway where the doors are located for your selected cabin and the adjacent one. Two cabins share a slight recess in the corridor.

So, looking at 6620 on the deck plans, the cabin entrance is on the aft side of cabin, therefore the bed is on the left as entering cabin, so headboard is forward, so sleeping you are sailing head first(backwards), therefore couch is on forward wall too, so sitting and looking out the slider to sea you will be facing/looking aft, where the skin is located, compromising you view slightly, albeit moot to some. Details concerning views are not moot to me. ;) There is a configuration where it works out when the couch and skin are on same wall so view not limited. Have never looked for a pattern where this pattern exists. I did look across the hall, but that didn't help. Perhaps it's every other skin point ? ?

It's the same as above according to my observations for 7624. Perhaps it's consistant like that vertically throughout the ship. Perhaps you could help me figure it it out ? :lmao:

Hope that makes sense.

I would still choose a cabin a deck or more above the boats if possible/affordable if available.

But remember being aboard is what is most important. Oh, we are always fascinated how little time we spend on the veranda, though we do travel with little ones. So keep that in mind. If you are a first timer, IMO, you will spend little time on the balcony. The more times you have been aboard a vessel, I feel is directly related to veranda time. IOW, if you have sailed said ship 6 times you will spend more time on said veranda, than if you were a newbie. JMT
