I am assuming that at Nassau there are other Cruise ships there.

What are the crowds like on Nassau vs. Castaway Cay?

Also how far is the walk on Castaway Cay to the adult only beach?

Actually, when I was in Nassau (on Monday, May 1, 2006) the Disney Wonder was the only ship docked there that day. I don't know if that is the case every Monday. If you are on a 3 night cruise, you'll be in Nassau on Friday rather than Monday, and there are more ships docked there.

As for walking to the adult beach: the sign said 26 minutes from the family beach. However, there is a tram that takes you to the adult beach, which my girlfriend and I (and it seemed almost everyone else that went to the adult beach) used to get to the adult beach. And we used the last tram of the day to get back (we were among the last people to leave the beach; I guess you can say that she and I really enjoyed it!)

There is also a tram to the family beach. However, that was a nice walk, so my girlfriend and I just walked it, rather than using the tram. Although, at the end of the day, we took the tram (we were also among the last people to leave the family beach!)

Welcome to the DIS, first of all. :)

There really is no way to compare CC to any other port. CC will only have the Wonder or the Magic there so you wont have the crowds like in the other ports with multiple ships in. You can take the tram to Serenity Bay.

Thanks. I am kinda lazy when it comes to walking so we'll prob take the tram. I didn't know there was one.

I have to absolutely agree that there is absolutely no way to compare Castaway Cay to anything else in the world. My day on Castaway Cay (Tuesday, May 2, 2006) was quite possibly the best day of my entire life! I posted a trip report about it a while ago, but it seems that they delete the old trip reports. My girlfriend and I were nearly the last people to leave the adult beach (we took the last tram back to the family beach), and then nearly the last people to leave the family beach, so that gives you some idea as to how much we enjoyed it! Then again, she and I were among the last to leave just about every venue on the cruise :)

Not only do you not have to worry or think about the crowds in reguards to other cruise ships being at CC...but no crowds from locals either. :cool1:

I hated Nassau. Hot, crowded, and boring. This is just MY opinion. I bought a couple suvies and we were back on the ship in about 1 to 2 hours. Now Castaway Cay......all I can say is I am in love. :goodvibes I loved it so much!!! The only bad thing in my opinion was that the food wasn't so great. I also (probably the only idiot to do this) Fell off the tram when I was getting off it. :sad2: I sprained my foot and was in some pain the whole day and the next. I still loved it and it didn't seem very crowded to me at all. Now all this is coming from a person who had never cruised before so I really have nothing to compare with my experience. :confused3

Castaway Cay will only have the amount of people that are onboard (if everyone leaves the ship)....as it is DCL's private island and only one ship....the Magic or Wonder would be there on a given day. So if the ship holds about 2700 or so passengers....and everyone got off the ship for the day there would be about 2700 plus some crew on the island.

But, that being said...I am sure not every single passenger disembarks and you can spread out all along the family beach, adult beach, etc.

The family beach can look crowded and by noonish must of the more centrally located beach chairs and umbrellas are claimed. If you walk further down the beach toward the teen beach there are always chairs available.

Castaway Cay is heaven on earth. We hated to get back on the ship.
Nassau was another story. We had been there before, and only got off for 1 hour to get the boys some shirts at DelSol. We couldn't wait to get back on the ship. We basically treated Nassau as an "at sea" day and enjoyed the ship.
For our family, Castaway Cay just had such a nice relaxed atmosphere. It was our favorite day of vacation.
