My daughter and I want to do this for the first time in a couple of weeks.

How do you sign up?

What is the cost to sign up?

Where do we get the shirts and how much do they cost?

There is not a charge for the 5K.

It will be listed in the Navigator, with a meet up place and time. On the Dream last week the meet up time was 8:15am in Evolution, and I believe they walked off the ship at 8:30. It was listed for ages 12 & up.

At the end of the race, my DH got a Mickey medal.

The 5k tshirts to purchase are at the gift shop on the island right about where the race ends. I dont recall the price.

Hope that helps - enjoy your cruise!

Thank you! That helps a lot. I appreciate it.

I did this with some family about three weeks ago. In the navigator you receive the night before CC it will tell you the time and where to meet in the morning. We were on the Fantasy and had to meet up in The Tube (this is where you sign up and get your bibs).

Unlike the PP we didn't get off the ship as a group until about 9:30 or so and then we walked over to the start as a group. They have a big timer set up so you know what your time is when you finish. At the end there was a CM waiting for you to give you your medal (and check you name off the original list). Also right by the start/finish line is the shop that sells the shirts (I believe the name was She Sells Sea Shells and this was the only place you could purchase them for I think it was $25).

Good luck and hope you have a great trip

Thank you!

Last July, myself, DH, & DS ran, but DD who was 9 at the time said no way. Caitlyn, the CM in charge, let her stay at the finish line and help hand out medals with her. DS was back in 20 minutes anyway...

This brings up a good question: Is there childcare available on the island for kids who are not running? Or would I have to leave my kids on the ship?

Yes, Scuttles is open to drop off your kids. You might tell the CM's at the club the night before that you need to drop your kids off, so they can make sure they are there. We took our kids last July before running.

When I did the 5K three weeks ago, a family came to the lounge with their kids in the morning and told the CMs that they would like to drop off their kids. The CMs called the club to make sure that someone was there for drop off. We left the ship between 0845 and 0900 and walked to the start. The parents dropped off their kids while we were walking and made it to the start line with plenty of time.

Have fun!

Aw, that's neat! I can see my son loving to do that. :)

Hi!!!

I've read many times that Scuttles should be open for them. :)

Hi! Guess we are revisiting the cruise idea for spring break 2014... :rolleyes1

The kids want to earn medals, because who wouldn't want one of those, but I can't see them actually running a 5K. And I'll be annoyed at being "slowed down" because I always want to beat my last time ;). They did say they want to run, and we can try to work our way up to it, but it is good to know that there is childcare available if they don't end up running.

Yay!

Definitely start training with them. As you probably know I have E training for the January 5k marathon weekend, so it can be done.

The question for the CC run is if you get a CM willing to get them medals if they run since they are under 12.

And I am right there with you on the potential annoyance. After watching a parent be annoyed at the child when the child decided halfway through that running wasn't what they wanted to do, I was very glad I hadn't chanced it with E. the marathon weekend 5k will just be warmup for the Half two days later, I'm not taking t seriously. But the CC run is serious stuff for me! ( even though I'm slow). :)
