Some time in January, I think.

Why didn't Cheney Mason correct Jose Baez about this before it happened. I know he is supposed to be the veteran in the group. He should have let him know that this was a bad idea. Or did Jose knowingly do it? I hope not.

Mason is there as the experienced DP attorney. The mistake seems pretty elementary. Mason probably did not stop him because he thought they could get away with it.

I do that all the time with cases I follow..."that sounds good"..."well, so does that!" I just honestly think at the end of the day, the state's case is more solid. I am doubting she'll get convicted of Murder 1 tho, if only that "confusion = reasonable doubt".

I wonder if any of the jurors will speak publicly afterward. No matter what the verdict, they will get ripped to shreds by someone in the media (like Linda Kenny Baden, if guilty), and/or Baez & Co. I think I'd rather just go home and get on with life. As much as possible...this case is going to stay with these jurors forever.

OK but do you think they will convict her of Aggravated Child Abuse? If so, doesn't that equal Murder 1 since the child died? That was my understanding, but I could be wrong.

Whoops! I guess I should of asked this in the first post. What was it for? Mason should have known about it. Not only is it Baez, but he is hurting the rest of the team as well. I think Perry should question the whole team if they knew he did this. Well if this his second one I dont know if he will ever learn the lesson involved. Thanks for answering my questions. Nothing like a saturday and still get bombshells dropped.

i have been following this since the 911 call cindy made. we were actually at Ft Wilderness taking a park break and watching the news when they reported it. I came home and was curious to see if Caylee had ever been found and have been following ever since. Poor little innocent child. If she didnt want her, she should have given her to George and Cindy and walked away. SO sad. RIP little baby girl, you will have the justice you deserve angel

Baez would Have to say that. But I think he is claiming it was an accident. Unlike his client--he isn't throwing anyone under the bus for it.

Even though I think Casey is guilty, I think I am remaining impartial in all of this. There have been days where I thought the defense has made some good points. For example, I wonder why Dr. G didn't cut through the top part of the skull if that is normal protocol. But the dr. who testified today, couldn't really say if that was protocol or not. That's why I said in an earlier post that I thought today might have been a wash out. No clear winner for today, in my opinion.

I agree that I wish the prosecution would put on a stronger case. But this is a circumstantial case, so I can imagine that it is hard to do.

I know we are all totally disgusted in what we believe Casey did to her child. But I still try to hear testimony with an open mind. There are times when I feel the prosecution isn't doing the best job, and there are times when I feel the defense isn't either.

It would be normal protocol if the brain was in the skull.


They make the incision around the calvarium and remove the dura once that is done they check for bruises, swelling, bleeding, tumors, atrophy, disease, infection or signs of stroke

They check the brains weight, appearance and to see if there is any abnormalities or injuries.


Once all that is done the put the brain back in, replace the calvarium, move the skin back into place and sew it closed.

Since Caylee's body had sat outside in the elements for 6 months there was no brain material left at all so there was no reason to remove the skull cap.

They were able to do a visual inspection of the skull for fractures and by looking thru the foramen the would have been able to detect any staining on the interior of the skull.

Exactly. And she didn't cut through the sternum and rib cage with the "standard Y incision" either like she does in most other autopsies. There weren't any organs to see. Obviously she could tell how fragile the skull was and was able to do everything visually without destroying it further. When the skull was cut, it just crumbled. I am sure Dr. G. knew that would happen if she tried to cut it. Cutting through the skull was no necessary. She could see inside it and run test on it without destroying the skull.

I don't know all of the details, but it had something to do with missing a deadline.

I watched part of that ME/DR today, he sure is forgetful....did not remember 2 tv shows, 2 interviews and his own research in his book, yet was definite on the "protocol" that is not recalled as to where it is written...As an expert, he should know it line by line.... memorized in locaiton convenient.

As far as the skull goes, why on earth would they be cutting it apart if there was nothing in it/skeletonized? Why would someone make the Y incision if there is just bones, I mean it makes no sense to me....but to "muddy the waters" once again. Good Job by the defense if you fall for it, I dont find him/witness credible in this case. I actually felt like he was insulting peoples intelligence...he is an expert and as such his testimony should have been "solid" yet to me, imho, he came off as "thinking thru his answers" to feed the defense.....and even in that he made errors..........

OK I just watched the whole day because we were out earlier. After everything, I say this was a win for the state today. The whole defenses theory of the duct tape thing was just blown out of the water.

It makes no sense that the duct tape would be put on POST Mortem. NONE.
IF the tape was put on post mortem, wouldn't MOST of the hair be gone as well and the Mandible would have been displaced.... I just don't get it.

The skull didn't need to be cut open. It was a SKELETON. NOTHING left inside (except some DIRT which the ME noted and tested and it was DIRT).
It was a shame that the old guy had to cut up a skull (and fracture it in the process) of poor little Caylee, when it did not NEED to be done. sigh.

I think it was not a win for the defense today. In fact, it might have hindered the defense.....

I believe that, in Florida, Aggravated Child Abuse is Murder 1 if the child dies.

It is Murder 1 and its called Felony Murder because it happened during the commission of a another crime. Felony Murder, like Capital Murder, qualifies for the death penalty.

It is Murder 1 and its called Felony Murder because it happened during the commission of a another crime. Felony Murder, like Capital Murder, qualifies for the death penalty.
