Caryn and Mark PJ- SBP/LSS/PI >>>>>>AND WE'RE OFF<<<<<<

At Things Remembered (the engraving store in the mall) where I used to work we did everything Brides Name & Grooms Name. You don't even have to have a last name on your guestbook if you don't want. It could just say "Caryn and Mark January 24, 2008" I used to think it was a little weird when people would engrave Jane and John Smith on everything. Why don't you hyphenate your name? If you do change your name then you could INSIST that your son have our last name (our last name is traditionally a boys first name) as his name and there really wouldn't be anything Mark could say about that.
I tried to go to Disney today and get my Florida resident pass, but since I haven't changed my license yet, they wouldn't let me... I brought a copy of my lease and my electric bill and they said that wasn't "proof" that I was a Florida resident :confused3 whatever. They just lost all that $$ I was going to spend at Food and Wine Festival.
My dress hasn't arrived from David's Bridal yet, I called to have them ship it 2 weeks ago. So I'm going to have either Mom or my boyfriend pick it up and bring it down to me. I'm a little annoyed that it's taking so long and no one has called me. I'm also going to have Mom bring my purse down (Caryn got us matching purses and gave them to us this weekend, they are a few pages back on the planning journal).
The Disney Store in the mall is having a sale, I looked for welcome bag stuff but I didn't see anything cute.

jaxteach- good luck with your name change debate...my df is an only child as well...i don't think this has nothing to do with his family...i'll let you know how the crinolines turn out. i'm going to do them this week!

linny-loo- change your license!!! the fl ones' are so pretty anyway! when i was at your david's with megan last week they said that they were going to ship it. maybe you should just have your dbf go get it and drive it down in the passenger seat of his car (make sure to buckle up!!!). also, you guys are going to have to get something to wear under those dresses or else your legs will get cut up. i would suggest a regular slip or ballet tights (they are super thick and come in every color imagineable, they even have sparkley ones with pixie dust already built in!!!).

i've officially taken DisneySweeties advice and played with the david's "dress your wedding" thing...

the colors aren't exactly perfect, and i need to find out what color my fmil is going to be wearing! this is as close to what i can get to what my mothers dress will look like...also, there is a color missing, my deep yellow for my flowers...and the dress is a lot lighter than it is in real life...

df and i are both sick  and are having a star trek the next generation marathon (we own the entire series on dvd) we are DORKS. so i've been looking at a cake serving set...how do we feel about this one? it's not exactly a set, i really like the server because it's not traditional, it will also match our cake (mad hatter 1), it looks so fun! the knife is boring, but that's ok, the server doesn't have a matching knife, so i found a plain one to match the server...

this is the one that i'm sure everyone else gets, i'm just not thrilled with it. if lenox made one with their m+m on it, i'd take that one, but i just don't like this one...

do we think this is weird?

Caryn, I really like the first "set". My only concern would be how I would feel about the server 20 years from now. That would be your decision though. I definitely like it more than the other set. Megan

that was mine as well...i ordered it anyway, it was so cheap, i can always get another one!

OMG ST:TNG...you are my hero. LOL My sister, brother and I had communicator pins when we were younger...they made the chirping noise...(did I really just admit that? :lmao: )

I like the first server set as well. We ordered the FTW set.

I agree with everyone-- I like the 1st set best. I don't like that Mickey & Minnie one, but I'm not a pink girl. I ordered the DFTW set last week so I can have it engraved soon. That's what we'll be using. I couldn't find anything else that I really liked.

everyone keeps talking about the dftw cake server...am i missing something? i haven't seen this one...

i got a bunch done today...

bought little notecards to go with the invitations for reservation information, of course i bought ivory cards and my invitations are white. i of course had to discover this after i printed out all of them with their envelopes. as you're all aware, i'm not thrilled with the invitations to begin with, so i'm throwing my hands in the air and "going with it." i also decided to just print the envelopes on my new printer, i started it, i'm 3/4 of the way through with the outer envelopes, hoping to get this done asap.

i also bought welcome bags, printed the labels for them and put the labels on the bags.

i ALSO got baskets for my bubbles/programs. i found them at world market (they're the darker brown color that goes with my dark brown/truffle coloring...). i really like them and they were really cheap, i only need to get yellow and gold ribbons for them and they're done, which is amazing.

we bought dark yellow cardstock for our welcome letter and for the disney quick facts that i'll be including in our welcome bags. i was going to make our own stationary, but i'm getting overloaded with the crafts...

df and i talked about table names...we're truly the dorkiest people alive...here is what we have so far. we need 12 tables (at least this is my current estimate). i suggested disney characters, even #'s, but was met with a cold stare...so we came up with a bunch of stupid names that we hope will spark conversation amongst our guests...a lot of them won't know each other and i think that ice breakers are important...

1. the roach table (the first time our parents met, we were at a fancy restaurant and a roach ran across the table and we got a $300 meal for free with desert!!!).
2. the turn table (df is a dj)
3. the "there's no diving on disney property" table- because there is NO DIVING ON DISNEY PROPERTY and we were forced to say these kind words 700 times a day when we worked there.
4. the "feet first" table-see #3 above, this is in reference to the slide at the luna park pool.
5. the flea table-we have cats who had fleas REALLY bad one day...so df calls EVERYTHING with flea at the end of the word (for example, his ipod is called the "i-flea" i told you that we're weird)
6. the frozen margarita on a patio table-nuff said

that's all we have so far!

df made his fmil (my dm) really happy today...he called her and let her know that we ARE going to nj for christmas!!! i wanted to surprise her, but he can't keep a secret to save his life...

thanks for the cake server advice, i'm so excited that i decided to order it! i can't wait until it gets here! i have so many pics to post...more tomorrow!

your table names are adorable! I love how random they are, but they each mean something to the both of you :)

Its soo much fun reading all of this!!
I was not aware of the Dis back in 2002 when I began planning my DFTW!!!

Oh, I love the Mad Hatter inspired one you found and even if you get both, that one will be so fun to use for children's birthday parties :goodvibes

Ava loved it....I loved taking photos with her at Sunset Pointe!! Especially watching her "walk down the aisle" like I did....lol

Love your planning journal...3 mths will go fast!!!

Happy 3 months Caryn!!!

Btw, you better seat your parents at the roach table... because they're the only ones who probably wont be offended by that! :) We're naming our tables after fish, and my dad is absolutely horrified by the idea:rolleyes1

i am going to sit my parents there, i can see my mother rolling her eyes already!

it occurred to me that i have never posted a pic of the centerpeices i chose...here they are

Pear20centerpiece.jpg

the difference is that the pears will be lemons and the flowers will be gerber daisies and yellow/cream tulips. there will also be square votives on the tables as well, to pick up the light in the water! let's hope this doesn't cost a small fortune. we need 12 tables...also, i think i'm goign to ask her if we can have a ton of flowers on our table...i feel like this will cost a lot of money, but i'm just curious...

i've been trying to get a picture of my grandmother's blue ring, but it won't photograph for some reason, i'll try again tonight aunt judi!!!

so i tried on my dress-again-when df went to work. i wanted to see how it looked with the hoop and crinoline, i have gone through EVERY possibility known to man and finally came up with this...the original slip from davids (wouldn't you know...:headache: ) with the hoop skirt under it, i took the hoops out of the top two rings and replaced the bottom hoop with the original second hoop (just like jaxteach did). this is SO MUCH BETTER. now, the only thing i discovered is that a brown slip is going to look bad, it's too dark in contrast to the color of my dress, if the dress was white it would be fine, but the light gold really puts a hitch in that plan, so i'm entertaining slip colors if anyone is interested...i'm thinking just a nude with maybe a very light pink tint would be ok, someone suggested i dye it in tea, but i think that might be difficult...i just really don't want it to be white, but brown is going to be too much, maybe i can just use half of the dye necessary...hmmm...that's a thought!
