Carry on Luggage

Sorry just one more time for us newbies. Please don't kill me.

We are going on our first cruise 9/11. I picked up our docs from the TA and went thru last nite. I thought I had everything all planned out in my head but now I am soooo confused. I need your expert advice and tips.

I have read all the tips in the wonderful 'TIPS' thread. I have all the things we thought we would bring as carry on. Like cameras, film, cruise docs, meds, swim gear etc. I was going to have my Husband take our garment bag as his carry on. But the docs say it can't be over a certain size. Should we check this? I also read that we should have our evening clothes for the first nite as carry on. I was wondering how long does it take to get your luggage to get to your Cabin? I would hate to miss our dinner the first nite because we did not have the right attire.

We would also like to bring on board a bottle of bubbly for the send off. It is also our Wedding Anniversary. Can we bring that as carry on? Can that go thru the xray machine? We were planning on sticking a cooler empty in our luggage.

How should we do this? I am sooo confused. Please help me I think I am going crazy. Thanks to all the cruising vets!

I would check the garment bag. Most of the time you will have your bags in plenty of time for dinner the first night. And if you don't, go to guest services and they will tell you to go as you are to dinner. This happened to me, I had the first sitting. We went as we were and there were a lot of other families in the same boat. Also, the more bags you carry on the Goofier you will look in the photo that they take as you enter the ship. That is always one of my favorite photos.

Pack the bubbly in your carry on, this will not be a problem at all.
