Quick question - anyone familiar with the Holiday Inn Resort Kissimmee by the Parks? It's at 3011 Maingate and used to be Wilson World back in the day, was a Radisson at one point, and is now reborn as an IHG hotel.

We're in Orlando for 1- 1/2 days and doing the Halloween party on August 17, then exploring Disney areas without going into the parks (Disney Springs, MK hotels, monorail, maybe lunch at Rainforest Cafe at AK, etc.). It looks like the location works well for the party, since an Uber is fairly cheap to get in / out of MK for the party. And with the car, I'm fine with driving around the area.

I'm also pondering staying at an IHG hotel near Disney Springs or the Holiday Inn Celebration on Bronson Highway. Any thoughts on which would be the best location? Thank you SO much for your assistance!

I'd look into Disney Springs or the Flamingo Crossing area. Kissimmee can be sketchy. Irlo Bronson Highway is another name for 192.

That is probably truth to your recommendation.
I know it looks busy when I drive past but I would not want to stay there no matter how low the price. How cheap is it ?

Absolutely go for the HIE off Kissimmee! While you obviously will have to drive yourself into WDW when you get to MNSSHP, it will be easier to enjoy all that Kissimmee has to offer.

And not to mention… those cinnamon rolls

I just saw this hotel listed as well when looking for our late flight in using either points or FNC. It looks like it was a Wyndham last and it doesn’t have great reviews.
After you posted, this, I just looked again, and of course the rates have skyrocketed as well. I ended up just booking the Disney Springs Holiday Inn. With all the fees that means my “free” room now cost 100 bucks.

Did you use an IHG FNC? I use one every year at the HI DS and never had to pay anything.

That was the plan. It listed a resort fee. I didn’t think IHG waived resort fees. I have had to pay them in the past when using free night certificates or booking on points.
I have never stayed at this location though. I’ve also been vetoed on staying here even for one night by SO and use it elsewhere.

It’s more than fine for one night. The rooms are large. Walkable to DS would make it worth it for sure. I stay here one night before I go to a Disney Hotel every fall and have never paid a resort fee.

Eta: I am plat IHG so maybe that has something to do with no resort fee.

Yeah, I figured it was fine. We usually stay one night on a free night certificate before moving to Disney as well but I was told no so we will use a different FNC from a different chain.

I think SO doesn’t wants to take a chance after we stayed at the sea world Staybridge. Between that and are getting broken into at a Kimpton (Not in Orlando) has soured the IHG properties for SO.

I think anyone that gets a FNC with the CC is platinum. That is the only way I get it since I no longer travel for work.
