Can anyone please tell me what size they purchase for their Carry-On Luggage?
I usually fly JetBlue or United? Does the difference in an inch make a difference when you carry on the piece? I've never did just a carry on but we only vacation in Timeshares or our DVC so we do pack light. For cruises, I just have to check our bag but would love to get some carryons.
Thanks.

Here is a link to the info for United carry-on bag policy (and dimensions):

I never been on a flight where they actually got out a tape measure and measured the bags, but I have been on a flight where they made folks check their carry-ons that were obviously over the size. My general rule of thumb is to expect that they will be strict and make sure my carry-on fits within the limits.

Southwest and Airtran recently still had 24" height on carry-ons, most others are 22" now. May not seem like much but make a big difference. If you use oversize they could make you check bag which can cost $50 at gate. I used a duffle bags with wheels on last trip. It was 24" but I could shrink smaller if need be by not over packing.

I have a Heys 22" spinner that I love. It always fits easily wheels first into the overhead bins. I have a new 22" Vera Bradley spinner that I'm using in just a little over a week.:cool1: I really like the spinners because they are so easy to move around the airport.

However, I also have a Kipling 22" rolling duffel that I like because it holds a ton and still fits nicely in the overheads. I also have a ton of Vera Bradley large duffels, small duffels, Weekenders, and Grand Travelers that I also like. I love my Vera Bradley pieces because they are so pretty, squeeze easily in the overheads or even underneath the seats, plus I have alot of accessories to match, but the spinners are so much easier to manipulate in an airport. You can easily push or pull them, with just two fingers.

Since luggage requirements and fees:rolleyes2seem to change more frequently than other categories, I always advise checking the website the week before you fly and being very diligent in measuring and especially weighing! Since Allegient now charges for carryons, we don't anymore. We're each allowed one bag to fit under the seat and a "purse" so that's enough for the 2 1/2 hour flight ;)

I would stick with 21" cases. We just bought new 21" spinner suitcases, because we had trouble earlier this month trying to carry on our suitcases that were a bit bigger than that, even though they were well within the measurements on the Jetblue website, AND the bags fit inside the sample measuring box at the gate! It was really weird- we were at the gate, and an agent came over and told us we'd have to check our bags. We politely told her we didn't understand; they were within their online measurements and fit in the box. She said they looked too big to her, but let us board early to try them, with the flight attendant. We tried to put them, wheels in, in the overhead compartment, but they, indeed, did not fit (despite having used them on Southwest planes before). We apologized to the attendent, telling her we certainly were not trying to 'get away with anything', as we had very carefully checked the measurements before deciding what bags to use. She was very nice and said we could keep them there (placed sideways), since the flight was not full, but said we might not be able to, on the return flight.
When we went shopping for new bags, we brought a tape measure with us, and discovered that the INSIDE measurements of similar 21" cases, varied in room! So, keep that in mind too.
