Hi Everyone,
Next year we are staying at the Carribean Beach Resort,How far is it to walk to places?

Next door to Epcot ,is there a safe path??

Also can anyone tell me how far in times to walk to various places and how easy??

Many Thanks..

WDW is a very large place - transportation is provided to all of the parks from the hotels. The only walking that is done is within each resort/park - never from one to the other (apart from maybe between Epcot and MGM).

Its not easy to walk between most places in WDW due to the vast distances involved and very few walkways, the only expceptions are -

The Studios and Epcot from the Epcot resorts of Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin, Boardwalk Inn and Villas and Beach Club Villas.

Contemporary to Magic Kingdom.

Saratoga Springs Resort to Downtown Disney.

Polynesisan to the Ticket and Transportation Center.

Claire ;)

what a lot of people dont reilise is the size of WDW.there property is about 46 square miles.About the same size as greater manchester

It's 1 mile to Epcot.
It's 2 miles to MGM.
It's 6 miles to both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

I'm not sure walking around is going to do much good to your feet!

We stayed at the CBR in 2000 and there was no way we would have considered walking to EPCOT or MGM. Even though they may look close you would have to walk to the entrance just not the nearest part of the park to you and that might include going around the enoumous car parks which makes the walk a lot longer than you might think at first!

Also outside of the resort areas there aren;t really a lot of sidewalks :-(

We stayed in the CBR a few weeks ago - the resort itself is so large there's a bus service that runs around it.

We were in Jamaica so there was a bridge betwen us and the main guest area which took only a few minutes to walk.

daipp,
we're thinking of changing our accommodation to CBR for next year (incidentally DH and I got married in Jamaica and today is our anniversary!!)

Heard there is a Port Royale (is that right?) and it has a mardi gras type feel in the evening with shops ,bar, restaurant.

Is that right??

How did you find it for ease and time to get to places by bus etc?
Was your 'island' ok or did you see any other you'd have prefered more and why?

sorry to 'butt in' on this post!!!

Is it suitable for DH10 and mum OR couples only type resort?

Port Royale is where the food court and shops are; in the evening there are a few Caribbean type events such as some music and children playing along with Cast Members. The restaurant is very good as well ;)

Our island was fine in so much that if we wanted to walk to Port Royale we could, quite easily over the bridge. We only used the bus about four times to get to parks as I drove the rest of the time.

My family comprised of me, my wife and DS15 and DD7. The pools were never full or busy and the areas around the room were quiet APART from one night when we had a very loud frog croaking away for hours.

Thanks guys,! Its either the bus or the car then,,!!

i do realise how big WDW is been going for 20 years but this is the first time staying onsite..,so i know very little about locations and paths etc,,

When we arrived in Disney last sep we was advised not to walk to the parks as only a few weeks before a woman had been out jogging 1 morning and sadly lost her leg to a gator.

The carrabbean beach resort is lovely, we have been there almost every time, because it is nice and good value for money!
I would not suggest walking anywhere is disney cause not only are the distances imense but then you have to walk all around the park too. (plus the alligator thing sounds scary!)

The buses are great and stop a few different times at CB at different 'islands', so i highly recomend you bus it!

Love this hotel-stayed in jamaica building 42-stayed at POR this year and probably in the minority but liked CBR more:thumbsup2 Very colurful nd love the beaches here. What more canI say
