Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

We got connecting rooms 2 years ago, one king and one with 2 doubles. They were water view rooms in Jamica bldg. 42. We walked outside our doors and looked right out on the beach. It was such an awesome location!!

We are at CBR in 2 weeks and were hoping to add a rollaway bed to our reservation. However, when talking to an agent they stated that there are no rollaway beds at CBR. Does anyone know if that is truly the case, or did I just get an inexperienced CM?

Any help would be appreciated. I supposed I can bring a blow-up bed, but would prefer using that space for other stuff.

Disney does not do RollAway beds.

However, they do have them, but they are limited to king bed rooms. If you did actually use one once, then the CM was violating Disney Policy and County regs. It has to do with the room design, space etc. It is really a concession for guests with disabilities. Disney doesn't want to be in the rollaway business. In planning group trips I have had this discussion with a number of Disney resorts and various managers. The story is usually slightly different each time including fire code, etc. I think the bottom line is DIsney doesn't want to.

I have used air cots from Walmart. They work pretty good.

We have a rental car and are staying at CBR. I've requested a room in the Jamaica Building because there are no preferred location rooms available for our time frame (although I keep calling back to check!)
How is parking at CBR? Will we be able to park right outside our building? Are all buildings about the same when it comes to parking? Will we be better off taking the car to the parks or the bus? Thanks!

There is parking close to all the buildings. We prefer to drive but not everyone else does.

Thanks! Does driving get you there quicker? Can I ask why you prefer to drive? I think we actually would prefer to drive, too, but then again...we've never experienced Disney buses.

Driving usually gets you there quicker. If you want to experiencea Disney Bus, take the bus to MGM. It's the shortest ride from CBR.

We'd like to go to Universal for 1 day and would like to know who has done it, how did they got there, how much it cost, and any recommendations.

Thanks!!

I would suggest asking on the transportation board, or on the Universal board for more answers. Welcome to the DIS. :)

I just booked a quick trip for next week, for DS (8yo) and I before he goes back to school. We have never stayed at CBR and I requested a room in the Jamaica section, I have a silly question. At night, how dark is the little island that we have to walk through to get to the food court and pool? My DS loves to swim at night and then have a snack before bed.

I will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort on Sept 16 for 7 days....I am so excited. This is our very first trip to WDW. I have a 3yr and 1yr old. I have requested for the Jamaica Bldg 45 or the Trinidad North. Is it a long walk across the lake to the Old Port Royal? Am I better off at the Trinidad North or even the Martinique? I was thinking the playground looks close by to the Jamaica Bldg 45 that's why I picked that one. I have paid for a water view room. Anyone's thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Also, do they sell the princess autograph books at the gift shop?

Thanks!

The buildings closest to Old Port Royale at Trinidad North and Martinique are preferred buildings costing extra. Martinique it will be buildings 24, 25, 26. In Trinidad North it will be 31,32,33. The additional charge will be $15 per night.

Personally I don't think a water view room is worth the extra money because it is hard to see the water from your room, it could also be a view of the pool.

The preferred locations are great. Jamaica 45 is not a bad walk to the food court and main pool. Yes they sell the autograph books in the gift shop.

Welcome to the DIS.

Welcome!! We are going to be at CBR the same time (Sept 16-23). We are taking our son (18 months). We requested Jamaica too. But we didn't pay for a water view. Have fun! Remember to see Cinderellabration your first day. I heard the last day for that show is Sept 16.

Because of the new code, we are switching our reservations (Nov 5-11th) from POFQ to CBR. We are saving about $250. I am excited about all of the fun things CBR has to offer. It also looks beautiful!!!

My question is what community should I request if I do not want to pay the preferred room rate. I have 2 little ones and do not want a long trip to the main pool food, etc..

Thanks in advance!

My parants are joining us in Disney but are staying at CBR and we weill be at the Dolphin. My Dad had some problems with walking long distances and would like to request close to the main building. Will he still have to pay the extra 15.00 a night if he has a medical problem? If so where is the closest without paying the extra 15. Do they still offer free fridges in every room?

Thanks!
Michelle

If you want to be close to the food court and main pool without paying for the preferred locations then request Jamaica or Aruba. You could always request the preferred location but since you have to pay usually for that area it would be major pixie dust.

I think the distance is over rated at CBR. Unless you are in Trinidad South it isn't a bad walk to the food court and main pool.

Fridges are standard in ALL rooms in ALL of the moderate resorts.
