Used the new package specials and got upgraded CBR king bed Room for 8 nights in October. Is there a good location for us to request? Corner room, particular village, etc..

Any info would be helpful.

It all depends what you want. Let's say you're NOT willing to spend an extra $15-$20 per night for preferred location (the 6 buidings closest to Old Port Royale), but you still want to be as near to OPR as possible. In that case, you can request Martinique (3 of its 6 buildings are NOT preferred location), or Aruba or Jamaica across the lake from OPR.

If you like the idea of seclusion, or as some people call it, "a resort within a resort," then request Trinidad South.

Here's a link to a map of CBR:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm

Other than location relative to OPR, there's really no difference from one village to the next. Even the buses are arranged to fairly randomly start at one of two places within the resort, roughly across the resort from each other, which ensures that there's not a village which is guaranteed better bus service than the others.

Does CBR have redemption games in the arcade? Every other hotel we go to has redemption games, and we would like to avoid that as much as possible. Thanks. :teeth:

I do not remember those but, they do have a certain game that awards physical prizes. I know because my DS was watching someone who won a 2-disc Jimmy Buffet CD set and, the kid didn't want it! DS obligingly took it off his hands ;) , even offered money but, the kid didn't want it. :confused3 My parents asked DS for a copy of the CD! :rotfl: Other that that, I'd say no.

We are staying at CBR Oct. 20-22nd. We haven't stayed at CBR since 2000, and I can't remember much about which area is a good location.

We are booked for a water view room. DH and DS will be using our car during the trip because DS will be at WWS for Taekwondo Fall Nationals, so DD and I will be walking and using Disney buses to get around.

I know that room requests are just that - requests - but does anyone have a recommendation as to which area we should try for?

Any other tips would also be appreciated!

We will be travelling for the first time without our 2 DD's. Looking forward to the time alone, just the 2 of us and some Disney magic. It's been a while since we have stayed at the CBR, but sure are excited about getting back. Thanks to all the posts and information. DIS is the best way to keep on top of things. We would never go to Disney without spending sometime here getting re educated. This will be our first trip in September, is the weather decent and how bad is this month for potential tropical depressions?

Does it cost extra to request a water view at CBR? Also, what are the chances that I will be staring at a parking lot in the morning. I've requested Jamaica and Aruba if this helps. :confused3

Water view costs $15 extra per night. Even the parking lot views are beautifully landscaped and it is hard to see the cars.

Truthfully...We did not even look out our window for the whole week we were there. We were in Trinidad North, ground floor so we always kept the blinds closed so people walking by would not look in. I felt it was worth it to pay extra for the preferred area but I don't think it is worth it to pay for a water view. Just my 2 Cents. :goodvibes

We stayed in Martinique 2549 -- didn't pay for a water view, just got it. We had a beautiful view of the beach and lake -- you can see the view in photos on the link below. BUT, we really NEVER looked out the window at that view. It just happened to be what greeted us each time we walked out the door of the room. I would agree with the others that it's not worth paying for water view. Preferred location might be worth it depending on your desires/needs, but not the water view.

Ok, I had zero interest in CBR. Then for my October trip with six people it ended up being the only moderate we could get with our rate. I wasn't happy as I'd had my heart set on one of the Port Orleans resorts. We have previously stayed at all the moderates except CBR. So in an effort to get pumped up about this trip I have been reading all the CBR threads. And now, finally, I'm excited. :goodvibes It does look really beautiful there. So thank you Safetymom and everyone else for getting me excited for CBR. I can't wait.

what way do you have to face at the resort to see the building(s) Bonnet Creek is currently building? is it noticeable or do you actually have to know where to look to see it? it won't stop us from going back to cbr since we feel in love with the resort, but i would like to at least be able to prepare myself for our next trip if the view has changed.

When you are coming into the resort Bonnet Creek is on the left. It's not like you can see it from everwhere. It's over the tree line but there is lots to look at within CBR so I don't think it is too bad.

Back in June, we could see construction from Trinidad North but, it never affected us, AT ALL. Just something else to 'notice'. :thumbsup2

I saw this in May of 2005, also from Trinidad North. I asked a Disney Transport bus driver about it one day. He told me that what was being constructed was a mega-resort by a Japanese company on Disney land. He likened it to a Swan/Dolphin sort of deal -- not a new WDW resort but an outside company leasing land from Disney.

I was actually a little disappointed to see even a hint of the outside world. Before that, in my 2 stays at CBR the only thing I could see outside of the resort was a bit of Spaceship Earth in the distance.

Disney doesn't own the land that Bonnet Creek sits on.
Just curious safetymom, who does own the land? :confused3 Do you know why Disney would put CBR, or any resort, etc., so close to the 'outer perimeter'?

Thanks! :thumbsup2
