Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

My wife and I just booked the pirate cruise for our DD7 in Oct. and was curious if anyone had any pictures of the event? We have heard that it is a great time for the kids and are excited to surprise her with cruise. We are making up a treasure map that will lead us around the resort and end up at the marina prior to the cruise. The marina CM's were vague about the details but said it is the best pirate cruise on property. They also mentioned that it going to be added to CRO very soon and the reservations will be handeled through them in the near future. pirate: pirate: pirate:

YEAH!!!!! We ere able to book 9/23 to 9/30 a king room!!! We cancelled WL CL.
We are so excited to be going back to CBR. It was sooo romantic and perfect for us.
This will be our first anniversary. Any romantic suggestion? I have been making our ADRs with no problems.

Does anyone know which buildings allow smoking in the preferred area? I'm fine with going outside to smoke but at the moderates and values when you don't have a private balcony or patio I don't like standing on the pathway in my pj's!

Back from 6 nights at CBR....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to some not so great reviews, I was apprehensive about this resort. But my concerns were quickly put to rest.

We arrived app. 3:30 on Sat., July 15th. Obviously a ME bus had just unloaded before we arrived with a queue extending to the front door. Even then, it only took us 20-25 minutes to check in. The CM was very quick, professional, and helpful.

We requested Jamaica and received Jamaica 44, Room 4413. We loved this room. It was a corner 1st floor room (no extra window - OK with us). We had last been to WDW in 1997 staying at Dixie Landings (POR now). I was struck by how much bigger this room was. Those extra few feet DO make a difference.

We made great use of the refrigerator, eating all of our breakfasts in the room. It even froze some of our water bottles. We really have nothing to say good or bad about the Food Court. We only ate one meal there. It was OK. I mean come on, it's a FOOD COURT!

The landscaping and theming were just gorgeous. I do wish we had taken more time to just enjoy the resort. But seeing as how we hadn't been there in 9 years, and not knowing how long it would be before we got back, we were in the parks as much as we could be. We did enjoy the quiet pool in Jamaica. $13.00 for a couple of loads of laundry might have been a little steep, but what are you gonna do?

Mousekeeping was very good. Only 1 towel animal when we checked in, but no big deal really. Our DD is 14 so no loss there. Our room was always clean when we returned in the early afternoon, with plenty of soap and extra towels.

Bus service was good I thought (avg. 5-10 min.). The longest waits were in the parks waiting to return to the resort. I'm guessing fatigue magnified those waits.

Many thanks to Safetymom for her info about CBR. We enjoyed it very much and would not hesitiate to recommend it to anyone or return again for another stay.

Any questions? I will do my best to answer them.

This is going to sound like a seriously stupid question BUT it is very important to my DH. One of this "thangs" when we go to Disney is a late night Spaghetti & Meatballs. Don't ask me why but he loves the food court spaghetti & meatballs. He loves them at the ASMovies and POR but that is the one thing he hates about the Poly.

I know, it's weird but that is my DH! Anyway! I looked at the menu for the food court on allears and they list a Pizza/Pasta area but they don't list spaghetti and meatballs. Can you get it there?

We are currently booked at POR but I came across pictures of CBR on the resort pic thread and it looked REALLY pretty to me. I don't know why I never considered it before but it looks great! If we can switch, I think we're going to go for it. DH wanted me to ask about his darn spaghetti and meatballs though. LOL

Also, are the two window corner rooms available in the Jamaica building? I think the Jamaica buildings look really pretty and they didn't look too far from everything. We're driving so bus stops aren't an issue for us.

You're not a spaghetti eater are you? LOL

but I don't remember spaghetti.
I don't either but, I think they had a kid's meal with some kind of pasta with or w/o meatballs. :confused3

Well, I called last night and she said they are booked anyway. I will keep trying though.

I just switched our reservations for October so we are now staying at the CBR all 8 nights instead of splitting our time with the Polynesian...downsizing...can you believe that one? :rotfl2: I'm totally excited about staying at the CBR (and not having to pack up and move half way through our vacation) and am even more thrilled with the extra cash I'm saving!

So, I have my kiddos booked on the Pirate Cruise that sails from the Grand Floridian yet but am thinking about switching them to the one that sails from the CBR. I'm debating, though, because the cruise only sails on Tuesdays, and the Tuesday we'd book is a EMH morning day at Epcot....our last day at the parks before heading home. So, do we keep the GF Pirate Cruise on Monday and enjoy EMH at Epcot on Tuesday, or switch to the CBR Pirate Cruise on Tuesday. :confused3 It'll come to me eventually. :goodvibes

This thread doesn't need to be bumped. :) It is always at the top of the resorts board in a sticky. :)

Is it possible to get connecting king and double bed rooms or are the king rooms separate? Need connecting rooms, but might have to settle on adjoining rooms.

I know, but I wanted to make sure I see it everytime it lights up so I can see any new developments or questions from other people that might help me out....:) I don't go to resorts board that much....

thanks! nice job with all the info, espicially the pix! this is where we had our honeymoon and we regret not taking enough pix of the place. if you don't mind I might borrow a few of yours!
