Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

disneyfanz04- I hate that you had that kind of experience. I haven't had it there, but at another of the Disney resorts. I would have asked for another room if things were so horrible in yours. I'm sure that if you posted your experience on the resort boards, many would probably jump right on and say they had the same thing happen to them.

That's one thing about all of this. For some, the experience is wonderful and for other's it's terrible. I'm glad you enjoyed the pool there though. Maybe if you decide to stay again, you might request a closer building. I don't think all of the rooms were in as bad as shape as yours.

P.S. other than that, I hope your trip was great!!

:D

Our family just loved the CBR. We stayed there this past December and will stay there again. We had a corner room in the Martinique section, and could see the fireworks from Wishes and Epcot without leaving our room. I did notice a few stains on the carpet, but I haven't stayed in a hotel yet that didn't have stains of some sort on the carpet. The only time I haven't run into this is when we have stayed in brand new hotels. I sorry disneyfan04 that you had such a bad experience with your room at the CBR. Hotel rooms are sometimes like a car; every once in a while you can get a lemon. Take care. :)

We stayed at CBR last April and had a great time. Our room was in Trinidad North, a perfect location. We had a corner room that was just perfect. It was so colorful and plenty of room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I am sorry you didn't have the same experience!

You guys<and girls> are so nice. The rest of my trip was wonderful. As far as asking for another room, I really didn't want to switch to another room because then we would have had to move all of our luggage, and I guess I thought it would be to much of a hassle just for one night. Anyway, maybe the preferred rooms aren't that bad. I guess I just got spoiled with the "new" hotel...Pop Century. Although I have stayed at all of the All-Star hotels and never had a problem there either. But like you said, they are like cars and every once in a while you get a lemon, which must be my luck, because I have a 1999 Ford Windstar minivan, and that's a lemon too...oh well, you win some and you lose some. Anyway, thanks again. It's a shame though because now I think I might be afraid to try it again...it's like when you taste something and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth, you don't want to try it again.:D

disneyfanz04 - do you know if your visit was before or after the refurbishments at CBR which took place within the last 12 to 18 months?

My last trip was in February of this year. We went the last weekend in Feb.

What room did you stay in? Was it a water or preferred view? Did you have an extra window? I have booked a standard view for our stay in 2 weeks and have not made any room requests. I want to see where they put me and if it is really bad I will just ask to be moved. I am preparing a list of really good/really bad rooms to take with me.

Martinique is in the preferred section costing extra for several of the buildings. I would suggest a preferred building over a water view.

You can see the fireworks very well from the beach in Martinique.

Hey, safetymom..Thanks for all your info and pictures-today I booked our room at the CBR for 5 nights in October. I got it for $406, including all taxes! I think I did pretty good, don't you? Thanks for all the info, I'm sure I will be asking you a lot of questions before we go...can't wait!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Lindajo, How did you get those great rates? We are booking a trip for September and love the CBR, but have been waiting to find some discounts for September. Haven't seen any so far, but your rates sure seem to be discounted!!

Karylrocks - We did have a water view room, and our room faced the beach in the Martinique section. I sorry I can't remember the room number, but it was on the second floor. We could actually see the fireworks from the one corner window while lying on the bed. My three year old granddaughter got such a kick out of that. We had originally requested a standard room, but all they had left at the AP rates were water views when we made our reservations so we took it. Have a fantastic time. :)

We just returned home from our Florida trip and stayed at CBR for 4 nights. It was our first time there. We loved it. We checked in about 1:00 PM and had originally requested, through my AAA agent, Jamaica Building 45, not a preferred room but closest to the bridge. After thinking about it more, we decided we wanted to get even closer the to pool and food court, so I asked what was available in Martinique. We had a very nice CM and for $10 extra a night, she got us in Martinique Building 25, with a water view on the second floor. It was great - one of the closest buildings to the Old Port Royal Center Town. Every morning I would just walk out our door, and get my coffee in my refill mug. Though, the refill mugs are NOT worth it if you're not staying there for at least a few days and use it! However, it was worth paying the extra $10 a night for the room to be close to everything, not to mention a great view. I also loved the carribean music constantly playing, especially the reggae. My only complaint was that we could hear our neighbors in an adjoining room every night. We're early birds and went to bed early so we could get to the parks very early, and they came back late every night, which woke us up and then they would watch TV, which we could hear. Don't they have rooms without adjacent doors? It's the same at any hotel though....those damn adjoining rooms are always loud when the people are in the next room.

I was also a little disappointed with the pool. I thought it would be bigger, and the slide was a joke. It was so short, and my 9 year old son had to push or he would stop and not make it down. I didn't even bother with it. And there was only one little hot tub, which was always crowded...mostly with kids. Now, the Hard Rock Hotel pool and slide are worth the price of the room by itself, but I'll save that for the Universal thread.

Overall, the CBR was wonderful and we plan to stay there again.

Hi SarahJ,

 I can't believe it either, in fact I probably should have waited until I had the paper in my hands to post about it, but I just got excited! I wandered into my AAA office yesterday, just to have them check out the rates on a few resorts on their dime and time on the phone. Gave the agent my AAA membership number. He called Disney and they said $406 including taxes- that was the AAA discount!!!! I made him repeat it -5 nights!! This is for October 20-24. I did the math, comes out to be cheaper than the current BBY code for the VALUE resorts! Ha! I also booked a solo trip (Yay-I can't wait) for myself at the Pop Century for September 15-17 and got that rate for $206 including tax. I was on a roll!!! So when I told DH about booking the CBR at that cheap rate, he said (Now keep in mind this is Grumpy Husband-only tolerates Disney for the kids-never shows any interest at all) "What about the WL?" So I was excited that he was showing interest. Called the agent back, he called me back with the rates for the WL in October-over twice as much!!!! Go figure that one out.. Anyway, I am happy with what we got, I hope there wasn't a mistake! I will keep you posted....so happy.... couldn't sleep last night.....:hyper: :teeth: :hyper:

I'm returning to the CBR for the first time since May 2000. Are there any major changes? Did they redo all the rooms during the rehab? We requested a room in Martinque. I stayed there last time and really enjoyed it. I can't wait to visit again.

Hi Lindajo Thanks so much for the info. We are booked at the Doubletree Suites for $74.00 per night, but are just keeping it as a last resort. We prefer to stay at one of the resorts. We were at CBR last April/May and loved it and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there. I just printed out your response and left it on my DH's desk!! Hint Hint to him to take a ride to AAA tomorrow and see what he can get. I'll let you know if we have the same luck!!! Thanks again for the information.

So glad to help, sarahj. Like I said, I should have waited out my excitement until I had the ressie conf. in my hot little hands, but I was sooooo excited. (My calculations-before 10% total taxes-$73/night...) I will receive the confirmation in a couple of days and post again. Hope your DH has the same luck, although I am still perplexed by the rate at the WL for the same time period. I (personally) am in a win-win situation, I just love all the resorts, so CBR would be great. But would really love it if the rates for the WL would come down so GH (GH-Grumpy Husband) could be happy-he really likes WL. At least I have the ressie for CBR, and I made sure I could change/cancel it within 5 days, not 45 like some of these threads are stating..... Let me know if your DH has same success as I did.....:wave2:

Hello safetymom,

Can't sleep! Just wondering if there is concierge service at the CBR and what it includes?? Thank you for your wonderful site! I am so excited about our trip in October-look at the time of my post! How am I going to sleep between now and then!!!???? :wave2: :hyper:

no concierge service at the CBR. None of the moderates or all-stars (values) have it. However, you will love the CBR none the less. It has beautiful atmosphere, the grounds are beautiful and watching the fireworks from the beach are not to be missed. Have a wonderful time planning your trip.

No concierge at CBR. You truly feel like you have escaped to the islands at this resort. The time for your trip will be here before you know it. :)
