Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

I can't answer your question fully, but alot of that depends on if the number you have for your ISP is a local call to CBR. I know they charge a connect fee and a per min. fee.

If the call is local, which you can verify by calling the front desk..They have a list of numbers for ISP's, If it is local you would only be charged .75, period. This .75 is the connect fee for making the call. This .75 is a one time charge for EACH call made..
Say you dial your ISP 4 times in a day that would be 3.00 worth of charges.

I dialed in at least once a day from here to AOL (local) and for a 14 day trip it wasnt all that bad of charges.

If the call to your ISP is not a local call then you will be charged a one time .75 to make the call and whatever the long distance rate is with the hotel...prob not cheap.

Call the front desk when you get there and ask for the local numbers for whatever ISP you are looking for.

This actually sounds really good Bry, thanks for that. I had a feeling everything would be extortionally expensive in Disney, especially any extras attached to the room!

Thank you.

Just wondering - did anyone get BBY or AP discount for CBR? I tried on the first day and the only thing available was king bed room. I have called back many times since and still nothing. I am thinking that they have not made any regular CBR rooms available on the discount, and if so Iam wondering why that is.

There is no per minute fee to use the phone. It is only 75 cents per call unless it is a long distance call.

sorry folks, I was mis informed, or I did not pay attention before ;) As for AP rates, I was able to get CBR AP rate for May 21 - 25

I got a discounted rate this morning 3/24 in a standard room for May 14-18. I used the ONZ code but the CM mentioned my rate as the BBY(not sure what that is). I believe its $104/night.
Good Luck!

Hi safetymom or anyone else with opinion!
Thanks for taking my question.
my families last trip to Disney we satyed at CBR and loved it...I personaly like the tropical atmosphere.
We were there in March 2001 and used the bus system exclusively but stayed in each park all day (didnt park hop)
We are going again last week in April and my two sons want to go to water parks and disney quest so we plan to park hop this time around(we will have a rental car..DH needs to have his own transportaion from airport)
My question is, if we are going to go to water parks in am and parks in pm do you think it would be better to drive or take bus system? What about leaving parks at closing? How congetsed is the driving back to CBR?
Thanks!

We were there last year for the last week in April and first week of May. We stayed at CBR and had a rental car. We drove everywhere we went and never used the bus system. We didn't have one problem with any congested streets.

Can you park your car right by your own building at CBR or is there a car park near the main entrance of CBR where you have to leave it?

Zoe

We only used the busses last time we were there and we are planning the same this time. Never had a problem with the busses there. Taking tiffany towncar from the airport to the hotel. WoooHooo, under 60 days remainging.

My DD10 and I were at CBR for 3 nights last week and we were pleasantly reminded why we love this resort so much. We hadn't stayed at CBR since DD was 5, so it was a little bit nostalgic. We checked in very late ( or very early, howver you look at it) at around 2:00 AM. I had my reservation in front of me at check in with building numbers to see if I could get in to. Thanks Safetymom! I had requested only non-smoking, standard. I made my reservation using Vacation Club points because there were no studios left at any DVC. I immediately asked for Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. Well, Aruba 51 was quickly ruled out because it is a smoking building. Jamaica 45 wouldn't be available until the morning when someone checked out. I said, "Oh, please don't put me in Trinidad South." The kind CM said that I would be in Barbados. I still wasn't too thrilled with this news since all the information I had been reading on this thread said that Barbados was too removed from it all. But I was optimistic that I could change in the morning to Jamaica 45.

Turns out that Barbados 15 was a great location. Our room was 1508 and was on the ground floor and a corner room to boot. We were only a short 5 minute walk to OPR and the pool. Just the right walk in the morning and not too far at night after we had refilled our mug before heading back to the room. We were reminded of how nice a relaxing walk can be. I would not hesitate to stay in this building again. We could see our rental car from right outside our door, but didn' t have a parking lot view either.

Will most likely stay at a DVC resort from now on during planned trips, but for this trip which was only planned since February 1, we couldn't have been happier.

So, for all those out there who plan the heck out of your WDW vacations like I do, sometimes the unexpected things that don't go your way are just as nice. Oh, and by the way, we never did switch rooms to Jamaica 45.

We have a reservation at POR for June 15-22 but I am trying desperately to get into CBR. I have called everyday since I booked to see if it is available. We have stayed at CBR 4 times in the past and we love it. I am very nervous about going to POR. I have read that it is very beautiful but we love the caribbean theme. Any suggestions on how to secure a stay at the CBR. We are using the BBY code right now but we could also use the BCG (annual) code.

We were in Trinidad North and loved it. We had a corner room on the first floor that faced that parking lot. We were able to park our car right outside our door, which was something we loved.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at CBR. We stayed there last spring in Martinique, building 25 and had absolutely no complaints. This year, we requested Jamaica, building 45. We were assigned building 41, 45 was not available, which was fine. However, our room had a musty odor and the carpeting was very dirty. We spent the first night in that room and the next day we requested to be moved. They put us in a room just four doors down, which made the move easy. This room did not have the odor, but the carpeting was very dirty here too. We noticed marks on the walls that could have easily been covered with a little paint. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and at the top of the bathroom door. The condition of the rooms was very disappointing. We really love this resort. Our only other complaint was the birds...too many in the pool area, bird poop on loung chairs and on the ground in the pool area. I don't remember this being a problem in Martinique. Again, we really love this resort and I hesitate to post negatives, but it was disappointing.
On the positive, the bus service was great despite the parks being packed. One night we came out of MK and the line for the bus was LONG. I thought it would take an hour and a half to get on a bus, but four buses came quickly and we were on a bus in 20 minutes.

You park your car by your building at CBR. You are never far from your building.

I would take your car. It is so much nicer at closing time to just jump in your own car. We always have a rental car and with the parking lot tram find it very quick. There isn't a backup at closing time trying to get out of the parks either.

Glad I found this thread!

I will be staying at CBR June 12-17. My sister and I are coming from Dallas and are meeting our aunt and her daughters from Chicago. We have two separate reservations for CBR. I have stayed at POR but they are Disney newbies. We would like to get connecting rooms, but I am not quite sure how to do this with two seperate reservations.

I do like the idea of having a car at the end of the day.. will take your advice, you are a great help!!::MinnieMo

Myself, I like the busses or the like. I don't have to worry about where my car is, where my keys are and have to find my way back after a day at the parks. I prefer to just hop on a bus or monorail and have someone else do the driving for me :-)

Sometimes, making a definitive decision can be really difficult because there can be just as many people as choices!!! Loads of people will say they couldn't or wouldn't do without a car and loads of other people would say they wouldn't waste their money on a car!

Choices choices choices choices ... aarrgghh! What do I do?!!! LOL

Actually, we are now fairly committed to getting a car for the whole of our three weeks and will probably use Alamo - got a discount code for them and they have an office right in or by Sanford Airport (where we are landing).
