Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

We always have a rental car. We like to be able to drive ourselves and we always take a day and go off property. We go to Sea World, or to Clearwater Beach or to Tampa/St. Pete for the day. But like you say, everyone has their own opinions of that, so do whatever you want. If you are going to be there for 3 weeks, it will probably be a good idea to have a car!

Nothing wrong with having a car especially if you are going off property for any reason. I drove the first time we stayed at CBR, and on those late nights, it was great to drive to get something to eat when the food court closed. Or we had an early mornign PS before the buses began to run. Personal preference. If you want a rental, go ahead and get one. It sure can hurt.

My FI and I are honeymooning at CBR...we leave in 8 days! I saw a picture on some site of a CBR room and there was a celing fan in the room. Is there really? We are VERY excited, it is our first trip to the world! :happy1:

this isn't a rebuttal about having a car. more power to you if you want to have one. I prefer to not have the hassle, personally.

But... the transportation people said that their buses start running 30 minutes prior to the first PS for each route.

Which direction do the park busses travel within CBR - clockwise, or counter clockwise around the resort? Which village is the last stop before they leave the resort?

Do the busses have a scheduled route, or is it up to each driver?

This will be my first stay at CBR!!

:earsgirl:

back in august-sept they began routes at Jamica ( our bldg)

Could've changed by now
:)

We will be arriving on Thursday, June 24 probably right around Noon -1pm............what are our chances of getting a room in Jamaica? I'm just afraid that coming in the middle of the week, all of the locations I would want will already be filled up and they will try to put us in Trinidad South. I didn't know if most of the rooms are filled from weekend to weekend or if they end with a lot of vacancies in the middle of the week.

We booked our room through AAA.....can I call CRO and request Jamaica or does the travel agent have to?

Thanks!

mickeyfan0705, I am sure they will be able to help you with a room in Jamaica. If they are full there are other great locations without being put in Trinidad South. The CM's are very eager to please when you make requests at check in.

Funny that you should say......
they will try to put us in Trinidad South
When we stayed at CBR in 2002 we stated on our reservation.......anything BUT Trinidad South!
When we got there to check in......thinking...no problem, how hard could it be to end up in anything BUT TS!!
WRONG!
When we went to check in, I reminded the gentleman that we requested anything BUT TS and would really "prefer" either Martinique or Trinidad North.
He came back with "Well, I'm sorry but you have been assigned to Trinidad SOUTH."
Again I asked to be put somewhere else because my DD was 11 at the time and she wanted to be able to walk to the food court on her own and there was no way I was going to let her walk that far....and have to cross that busy street!
He insisted that TS was the only thing available and could not change the room that was already assigned.
At that point I just calmly told him that he would have to call and book us a room at another moderate resort at the same rate becasue there was no way we were staying in TS!
He was NOT very friendly or helpful!!! I think that is the only time we really had to deal with an unfriendly CM at any check in.
He said he could not call another resort.
Then, I asked him to get the manager and to hand me the phone so that I could call myself! He said he would get the manager, but refused to let me use the phone.

He went to get the manager....after about 3 minutes, the 2 of them came back. The manager appologized and said there was a room in Martinique, closest to the food court/main pool. I couldn't have hand picked a better location!!!

So, even if you get there and they try to put you in TS......keep on trying....they will eventually move you.

I will be staying Sept 15-19 and we are looking at CBR because of location. We want to know when to book, as it is a slow time, so we can get the best deal. We will be getting UPH. We aren't very sure which building we want and are not too picky about it. It is for our honeymoon and money is tight. Whatever info you can give will be greatly appreciated.

ericamanda01, if you want a secluded area ask for Trinidad South. It is far away and takes about 15 mins to walk to the food court.

Closer to the food court and main pool would be Trinidad North or Martinique. They are preferred locations and cost extra to stay there.

You can watch the fireworks from Illuminations at Epcot at night from the beach at Martinique.

Many people like staying in Aruba or Jamaica. It is a short walk across the island to get to Old Port Royale.

I would book a room now. Why not contact Dreams Unlimited? They can make your reservation and they will watch for codes if and when they come out than can make the cost of the room less. Then you wouldn't have to be bothered watching for them.

I have pictures on my web site that show CBR and there is also a map with room locations on it. Personally I wouldn't pay extra for a water view. Since CBR doesn't have private balconies it is hard to see the water from your room. If you want to spend a little extra go for the preferred buildings.

i love all these questions..but i still have one more :)
I was wondering what building i should request..im not sure of the layout..but i know we dont want to be in the middle of nowhere....were 2 19 year olds..so we dont wanna be too far from the food court and stuff,,but cant afford the preferred...
also, can i call anytiem and request?

I would suggest Aruba or Jamaica. You can call CRO and have your request put in your reservation or just ask when you check in. We have had very good luck at check in with requests. I have a map of locations on my website.

Hi safetymom. CBR is at the top of my list for the next trip to WDW. Your pictures are beautiful! Is there a slide at the main pool? (major concern for DS6) Couldn't see one in the pics, and this thread is really long. Hope you don't mind answering me if you have already done so earlier in this thread. Thanks for the info....:sunny:

Yes there is a slide at the main pool. If you click on the link new pictures on my web page you will see the slide.

Perfect! Thanks for the pictures, they're great! That is the biggest kiddie pool I have ever seen. Can't wait to go there, especially since this is probably the closest I'll ever get to a Caribbean vacation. (married to Grumpy...!)

I don't know if anyone else has experianced this, but here was my first experiance at CBR............

I took my stepmom and my daughter on a suprise "mickey quickie" for a 4 day weekend. The first three nights we stayed at Pop Century...which was awesome....and the fourth night we thought we would "splurge" so we decided we were going to stay at CBR, after all the pool was awesome looking, anyway, when we first pulled in we were like...OMG this is so cool. Then we went to our room...as soon as I opened the door, I felt like I wasn't in Disney anymore. The carpet was stained with some kind of red juice, and when I turned the heater on<it was kinda cold> It smelled like wet dog. It is not even worth it to get the refillable cups because you have to walk a mile<not that I mind walking> but after walking ALL day long the last thing you want to do is walk a mile just for a cup of soda. Oh yeah and the bedding smelled like it hadn't been changd in a month. I was extremely upset that we had to end our vacation like that. All I wanted to do was go back to Pop Century. Oh well, at least I know for next time. Oh, and the pool was the only thing we enjoyed. Has anyone else had this kind of experiance there?????
