Anyone know the latest on the building work going on next to CBR? I would like to request to stay at one of the two villages over the footbridge as I believe the work is taking place along the edge of all the other villages.

Anyone know when it is likely to finish and whether there is any noise or dust carrying over to CBR at all?

Zoe.

Construction is stilll going on. I was there a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice any noise.

Lindajo, Tried today with our local AAA and they gave us rate of $1200.00 for the 8 nights we will be there in September. Said that was the best they could do. Maybe we should call your local AAA (ha ha). Do you have AP? We don't but are thinking of getting at least one to take advantage of those discounts. Problem is since we are going in September, none of those discounts are available yet. We'll keep trying. Hopefully when you get your confirmation, you'll still be as happy as you are now! :sunny: As for us, we won't give up until we get the best rate possible! Luckily I don't have a GH, I have one who loves Disney as much as I do! So he will try anything for best prices! Thanks again and let us know if you do indeed get those rates!

sarahj, I have an apology for you. I got my confirmation yesterday, and I did get the rate for CBR wrong. It was actually $469 for 5 nights in October, not the $406 I told you. I had gotten it confused in my head (why I dont' know , there isn't that much up there!) with my Sept. PC ressie, which was $206 for 3 nights. I do not have an AP, those rates are strictly AAA discount. I think the rate on my confirmation of $469/5 nights (including taxes)is still good, though-better than the BBY rates for moderate resorts. It is confusing to me why I got a discount (value season) in September (isn't that what you are looking for?) at a value resort, and you are getting such a high quote for a moderate. Just like when I went back and checked the rate for WL in October-same time as CBR, but more than double the rate. Since DH really likes WL, I too, am going to become a pest at the travel agent's and keep calling to check. But I really am sorry to you for telling you the wrong rate. I was so doggone excited, I literally couldn't think straight. :( Please forgive me?

P.S. sometimes they only have a certain number of discount rooms available, maybe that is the problem you are having. That is supposed to be a very slow time (relatively speaking) I thought, but maybe all the discount rooms are gone. $1200 for 8 nights comes out to $150/night (right?), that sounds like full price-no discount at all! Yikes!!:scared1:

Lindajo, You certainly don't need to apologize. Your rates are still very good. Nothing like the ones we were offered!! My DH said they weren't very helpful at our AAA. We haven't given up though. We'll keep looking for discounts. I think we will go the AP route, if we find the September discounts to be similar to what they are now. We were told CBR is $144.00 right now, but with AP it is $74.00. Can't beat that!! What days are you there in Sept? Where are you from?

sarahj, I agree, the AP rate sounds like your best option for now. You can book the ressie without actually having the AP yet, and then if something better comes along, just cancel. I went through a thread finding out how/when/timing of buying the AP to see if that was something I wanted to do. I don't know if we will be returning to WDW within a year, and since I got a great rate from AAA, we will keep it at that for now. Actually......I wasn't thinking about the WL at the time, so maybe I need to start over and see if I can get DH his WL using an AP.. Oh, oh, here we go again...the planning just never ends...

I am from SC, (for 18 years) originally from the Detroit area (28 years). I am going to WDW with the family (me, DH, DS4 and DS6) to the CBR October 20-25. I am planning a SOLO(Yes, me, me, me, only me, I can hardly wait..) trip September 15-18, at the PC. I turned in my FREE flight voucher yesterday for my ticket, Grandma will watch the boys (all 3!) and I will be on my own. I think I am going to wish my entire summer away. DH(remember-GH) just doesn't get it at all-the WDW part, not the going off by yourself part. He goes to Montana twice a year to ride his Harley that he has stored out there. I don't get that......:hyper: :wave2:

I took my stepmom and my daughter on a suprise "mickey quickie" for a 4 day weekend. The first three nights we stayed at Pop Century...which was awesome....and the fourth night we thought we would "splurge" so we decided we were going to stay at CBR, after all the pool was awesome looking, anyway, when we first pulled in we were like...OMG this is so cool. Then we went to our room...as soon as I opened the door, I felt like I wasn't in Disney anymore. The carpet was stained with some kind of red juice, and when I turned the heater on It smelled like wet dog. It is not even worth it to get the refillable cups because you have to walk a mile but after walking ALL day long the last thing you want to do is walk a mile just for a cup of soda. Oh yeah and the bedding smelled like it hadn't been changd in a month. I was extremely upset that we had to end our vacation like that. All I wanted to do was go back to Pop Century. Oh well, at least I know for next time. Oh, and the pool was the only thing we enjoyed. Has anyone else had this kind of experiance there

OMG we had this exact same reaction! I won't post my bad expierence here it can be read on other threads.

The resort is beautiful, the food court was very good but the rooms are to be nice.... horrible.

disneyfanz04 - do you know if your visit was before or after the refurbishments at CBR which took place within the last 12 to 18 months?

OMG I only hope they have not done Martinque Rm 2307. If so I am even more disappointed.

Hi Lindajo! If I had your rates for CBR I wouldn't look at the AP either! No need! We think it would be ok for us though because we can fly down for long weekends. My DH travels for a living, so accumulates lots of free airfares and lots of free points at Hiltons. So we can fly down for free and stay at the Hilton or Doubletree (on property) also for free. We can see ourselves using it more than just the one trip in September. Last spring was our first solo trip (no kids with us - DS20 and DS23 decided to stay home) We were at CBR and loved it. Hope you will too. We had a room in Trinidad North, a corner room facing the parking lot. It was perfect. Clean, bright and roomy. We were very pleased with it. We found the main pool to be crowded with lots of kids, so we spent pool time at the Trinidad North pool. Not as pretty, but almost empty most days. We also enjoyed the mile walk around the property each night. A little unwinding before bed and starting the next day! Very pretty setting there. You should like it!!

Hello safetymom. Thanks for sharing all your experiences on this site!

I was wondering whether there is anything that we can do to guarantee our preferred room? My wife and I stayed at Jamaica in CBR 10 years ago on our honeymoon. We are returning this month (Apr 20th) with our 2 children (6&7) and would like to stay in Jamaica again. When we made our reservation back in January the Disney rep made note of our request but told us it was not guaranteed. I called direct to the CBR desk this morning to see whether our preferred village / room would be available and was told that we would not know until the moment we check in.

Is there anything we can do to a)guarantee Jamaica and/or b)guarantee a specific room #?

Thanks very much.

I should have asked my question after looking at the historical posts. Looks like it is a crapshoot.

Thanks.

As long as you have noted it in your reservation they will do their best to grant your location request.

The CM's at CBR are very good at trying to help with your requests. Just ask when you check in if your location is available.

You will have a wonderful time at CBR.

I want to make a request for a room in Jamaica. Me2Me - which room number did you stay in, I presume it was nice!

Hi sarahj,

I just read a couple of not-so-nice posts about the room interiors at CBR. I hope this is a freak incident, and not the norm.(I am sure it is the exception!) I definitely would not accept a room in the condition described, even at my discounted prices!! Wouldn't you think Disney would move you if you found the room to be unacceptable? They might even comp something for you to make you happy..? The resort does sound lovely, thanks for sharing..

P.S. I wouldn't actually mind having an AP, if it helped out a lot with the room discount at WL. Here's my logic..If I use it beginning in late October 2004, maybe I can book another solo trip in Sept 2005, and then another family trip in early October 2005, before it runs out. I don't know, it will really depend on the AP rate for WL this year. I am really in a win-win situation because I think the CBR is a great second choice!!! Anyway, I hope you can get your discount rate, it seems like you really like the CBR. AND you have DH on your side, which is a plus........::yes:: :wave2:

We got back last Sunday from CBR. Our first time at that resort. It was wonderful!!!!! We stayed in Jamaica rooms 4255 and 4256. Our rooms overlooked the water. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing. We will always stay at CBR from now on. The CM's are great. They can't do enough for you. The rooms were big. Mine and hubby's room was king and the ajoing kids room was standard. We have 3 kids and the only complaint I would have would be the beds weren't big enough for my 2 sons. My older son is 5'11" and my youngest is 5'3". I should have gotten a cot for one of them. My mistake. I'm sure you'll like the resort as much as we did. We can't wait to go back. The resort is AWESOME!!!!!! ::yes:: ::yes::

Something about postcards????

thanks!
S

The corner rooms are great. We stayed in one in Aruba for our engagement trip and have requested the same room number for our honeymoon. The corners have nice big corner wrap around windows that give you a great view of the lake if you have a waterview.

Glennsgirl - do you mind me asking a few questions? Did your building in Jamaica have a number? Did you have to pay more for your water view rooms or where you just lucky? I would like to have the building nearest the playground on the beach there.

Glad to hear that you loved it there.

Another quickie question for anybody - are all room numbers unique? By this I mean - do you get a room number 1000 at Aruba and 1000 at Trinidad South too (for instance)?

Zoe.

Room numbers start with the building number. So you wouldn't have a problem with room numbers.

Getting a free upgrade to water view does happen. In my opinion paying extra for a water view isn't worth it. But if you get it for free it's nice. Hard to see the water from your room in most cases.

Lindajo, I saw the not so nice remarks about the rooms at CBR also. That's why I made sure I stated how much we liked our room! It was a corner room in Trinidad North. Corner room meant we had two windows which was nice. I found the room to be very bright and cheery. And very clean and comfortable! We faced the parking lot which was no problem to us. We were on the first floor, so our car was parked right outside our room. I agree with safetymom that I wouldn't pay extra for a water view. Not sure it would be worth it. We spent so little time in the room. We also found the CM to be very helpful. When we got into the room, there was no refrigerator, which we had requested. We called and one was delivered within 10 minutes. I'm sure you would like it there. Food Court was pretty good too. :hyper:
