Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Sorry for what may be a very ignorant question- but we've only stayed at SOG before, and never booked thru WDW for a WDW resort, so bear with me! :flower3:

When you call to book, I know you can request a certain building, room, etc... but will they be able to tell you if it's available, or is it one of those, "we'll put it down as a wish" but you have no idea if you'll get it or not? We'd like one of the Nemo rooms, but if we couldn't get those, I am thinking I'd rather try the newer CSR rooms instead. So will I be able to know that info at booking or will I possibly get an older non-remodeled "standard" room?

Thanks so much! :)

A request is just that - a request. When are you going? All the rooms should be done soon, so you would get a Nemo room unless you booked and paid extra for a pirate room!

I agree the Nemo rooms should be done in the next month or two. They will not guarantee a location. If you really want a Nemo room you could always book a preferred room since those are done.

Is Trinidad North done too?? I thought only Martinique was done (for preferred rooms) and then they worked counter-clockwise around the rest of the islands. Just curious because we booked preferred and want Nemo too.

CBR!! pirate:

I HOPE THAT THE 2009 CRISIS... "DON´T BEAT TO WDW" pirate:

When are you going?

We're hoping to go either end of April or first week of May. Good to know that they're almost done, and thank you for verifying the reservation info. I figured it was a request only situation, but I didn't want to sound like a dork when I called!!!

I would think everything would be completed by then! :goodvibes Have a great time!

I received a 40% pin and have just changed my December 2-6 reservation from Boardwalk to CBR so that I could put the savings towards the dining plan. I have booked a preferred room as my dd wants to be by the main pool and my mother wants to be by the main building with the food court. Can anyone recommend for me which building I should request?

Just to help you understand the situation a little bit ...

When you make a reservation, all they know at the Disney Reservations Center is whether or not there is availability in a particular room category. CBR has the following room categories: standard, water view, king-size bed, preferred location, pirate standard, and pirate water view. They can ONLY make a reservation using one of those categories. They have no way of "reserving" a certain building or specific location for you ... all their computer allows them to do is book a room CATEGORY for you. The computer allows them to put in some verbal information as a request (for example, "courtyard view" or "first floor near smoking area") but this is just there to be looked at later. More on that in a second.

The person who takes your reservation at the Disney Reservations Center does not assign you to a specific room, and in fact can't guarantee you a specific room.

ABout 4 or 5 days before your arrival, your reservation information is FINALLY forwarded to the resort itself. Depending on the resort and depending on how busy they are, a cast member may or may not look through the verbal requests placed on the incoming reservations. They may or may not assign some specific rooms based on that verbal information. When you check-in at the resort's front desk, you'll want to nicely mention that you made a request or two and you're wondering if they were honored or can be honored.

Very helpful! Do they frown upon calling the resort a few days prior?

Thanks for the insight! I've got a reservation "on hold" for April 19-24! :woohoo: We're waiting to double check w/ SIL- but I think we're going regardless!!! :yay:

Edited to ask another probably silly question: So I got the email w/ the reservation info, and it has golf voucher, planet hollywood voucher, etc.. on there, I had no clue about those... is this standard?!?

From what I've read, they don't frown on it, but the person you talk to may be in the middle of something or get busy and not put the request where its supposed to go, so then it gets forgotten. Supposedly if you fax, then it's in writing and they put it in some folder that they're supposed to look at when they start assigning rooms. Don't know if I got that info from here or UG.:confused3

When you call the resort, you aren't calling the resort ... you're calling a call center. They answer with the name of the resort, but I assure you that the person you're talking to is not located at the resort you are calling.

yes, these are all standard with a PACKAGE reservation (combination of room and tickets). The other type of reservation is ROOM-ONLY.

Can someone tell me where the "water play" area is in proximity to the main pool with the slides? Are they right in the same area?

Thanks!

I had ressies at All Star Sports, preferred room up until yesterday. My TA called and said that Disney contacted her and was going to send us to CBR, now I am wondering if I will have a preferred room there, being I had one at the ***? Where are the peferred rooms? I really need something that is close to everything, and also preferrably on ground level since my husband is having a hard time walking since he is recovering from a broken foot. How do I find out if I can get a preferred room? And also, what about the vouchers that were given to me in my documents? They are all labled ***, not CBR. I need to be somewhere where it is easiest for my husband. I don't think he has any idea just how big DW is. There is lots of walking. Thank you.
