Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Thank you for asking your daughter :goodvibes

Does anyone know if the slides are more appropriate for kids or if teenagers and adults would be able to use them too? My DS13 will be 14 when we go and he is already about 4 inches taller than me, honestly looks like he is 16.

I'm planning on spending the first day relaxing at the pool at beach. He is worried the pools are for little kids and he will look silly.

Thanks!!

He won't look silly. My DS is 18 and went on it, along with other older kids and adults. If he wants the biggest slide at a mod, the CRS has the longest slide. My kids love that one.:)

We will be staying at CBR for this first time end of this month.

Thanks for all the information on this thread. It has been very helpful! :goodvibes

Wow, from the ariel image it looks far from TS to OPR. We booked a pirate room, that's looks far to OPR. If you want to go to the parks, the busses go to each country/place, right?

Does anyone know the order that the busses go around the resort in? Like first stop is Martinique then clockwise around making TS, then TN the last stop? So if we're going to the parks from TS, it would only have one stop then be on it's way? Just guessing.

The resort is really not that huge. The distance from the furthest parts of Trinidad South to the Old Port Royale is about the same as the distance between the Train Station and the Castle in the Magic Kingdom. Plus, if you don't want to walk you can take the Internal Shuttle to get to Old Port Royale and then take ANY theme park bus to get back (since all the theme park busses stop at Old Port Royale before Trinidad South). If you don't plan on eating in the food court or using the main pool (each "island" has its own pool), you never need to visit Old Port Royale. You check in at the Custom House and check-out is automatic if you leave a credit card on file.

All the busses stop at every "island" and all travel clockwise. Some busses start at Jamaica and end at Trinidad South before leaving for the parks, and other busses start at Martinique and end at Barbados before leaving for the parks. See Caribbean Beach Resort Bus Routes for more information.

Thanks for the quick answer. Wow, I requested the first building in TS, hopefully I am granted my request. At least between the parks and the resort I will work off my Disney food.:yay:

Hi All! My DH and I are considering staying at CBR for a sept trip (family of 4, two adults and 2 babies 2yr &1 yr)... a couple of questions that I have that I hope someone can help me with...

1- Does the resort really make you feel like your on an island/tropical getaway?!?!? The pics of this resort is amazing.. the colors...the pool...the water...The reason why I am asking, because we were thinking about a tropical getaway instead of WDW..(.....i know the nerve of my DH:laughing: )
2- I heard that the pirate rooms are up and running which is great.. (even though the skull on the window curtain prob would scare me 1/2 to death) but I heard that there might be NEMO rooms too... Is this true? and if so does anyone know when they would be available? Its my oldest ds favorite movie and I think he would love it...
3- Does this hotel participate in any day/night activites? I have read that the Allstar movies shows a movie nightly and the beach club resort has a bonfire and a movie... so I am curious if they do anything...

I really need a vacation and if I can get my disney fix while staying at a resort that makes me feel like I am on an island, then I have killed two birds w/ one stone (what a horrible saying!!!:headache: )

I appreciate all ur opinions! :yay:

TIA!

I'll try to answer your questions in the order in which you asked them.

1) The resort really does feel very tropical and as if you are a world away from everything. There is really high shrubbery planted around the resort and you can't even see a road around you except near the bus entrances/exits. There is one place on the resort grounds where you can see the top of a couple of other resorts but they are way off in the distance.

The buildings are painted bright colors and the landscaping is amazing. Each village has their own white sandy beach complete with beach chairs and hammocks. The lake is in the middle of the resort and is very pretty to look at.

2) The new Nemo rooms are very cute but not so much as the theming overpowers the room. The wallpaper border has Nemo and friends on it as does the bedspreads. I believe that all of the buildings will be rehabbed by February.

We stayed in a new Nemo room in August and were very pleasantly surprised. I have pics if you want me to post them.

3) When we were at the CBR in August, I specifically remember them having quite a few activities for the kids and family. I don't remember exactly what they were but they were family oriented.

I do have pics of the rooms and the resort too if you want me to post them. Just let me know and I hope I helped.

Can you please post pictures of the Nemo rooms. We have a pirate room reserved right now but the curtain scares me. The girls would think it is cute bc they LOVE Peter Pan the whole pirate thing but that curtain is OVER KILL imho

I'll echo what Mickeystoontown said about the resort's tropical feel -- it's terrific, and feels like a vacation within your WDW vacation! I don't have photos of the Nemo Rooms myself, but you're welcome to check out the photos of the resort in my links as well.

The Nemo rooms are the "regular" rooms. By the time you go any non-pirate rooms should have the Nemo theming. There are pictures of the nemo rooms earlier in the thread at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=29121625#post29121625

As for the pirate rooms, the skull on the curtain is actually not on the window curtain -- it is on the "privacy screen" between the sink area and the rest of the room. Most of the time (including while you are asleep) that curtain would be open and hidden.

These are pictures that I posted....I'd be happy to answer any questions that anyone has about them.

Thanks so much for the photos! We leave 4 weeks from Saturday. It was very clever and helpful to take a picture of your filled fridge. It gives me an idea of what i'll be able to fit in it. We plan on stopping at the grocery store to get milk, soda etc. It was so helpful to see what you could fit in it.

What exactly does "Preferred Location" mean? It's probably on the forum somewhere, but I've missed it.

Trying to complete ressies and just need some info. Would like a new Nemo room, but location not a big deal to us.

Thanks.

If location is not a big deal then you don't have to worry about preferred. The preferred rooms are located closer to the food court and main pool.

Preferred rooms are in the three buildings in Martinique and the three buildings in Trinidad North that are closest to Old Port Royale. There are no other special amenities in preferred rooms.

Okay on to the room pics:

The safe. My husband takes a lot of medication for his epilepsy. We were able to fit all of his meds in, a portable DVD player, a PSP, a set of keys and a slim wallet into the safe:
