Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Safetymom, We stayed in Aruba a few years back. I think it was maybe building 55 and I thought it seemed like a long walk to Old Port Royale. Can you tell me how long of a walk it would be from Jamaica to Old Port Royale? I was thinking with the bridge it might not be as long. Also, my DH and I will be going with my four children as well as my mother so we have two rooms booked. What are the odds of getting adjoining rooms? We have requested it but my TA said they can't guarantee adjoining rooms when there are three adults on the reservation, only when there are two. Just wondering if anyone else had a problem with not getting adjoining rooms when they requested it.
Aruba and Jamaica are mirror-images of each other. Using the bridge, Aruba 55 is the same distance from OPR as Jamaica 41.

As far as your rooms, make sure your TA has requested CONNECTING rooms. In Disney-speak, "adjoining" means rooms next to each other or directly across from each other, and "connecting" means there's an internal doorway. We were successful in our connecting room request at CBR the only time we did it, and we were 4 adults and 2 kids.

cleverocks, thank you so much. I hadn't seen anything about the connecting vs. adjoining. I really appreciate it!

We want to use the Airline Check In desk at CBR, but are not using DME for transport at all (renting a car). Previously we have used it at Pop Century and really liked the service.

Can anyone tell me if it located in the Custom House and where it is there??

It is in the Custom House. I haven't been to CBR in just under 3 years. When DME and RAC were first started, the RAC desk was to the right as you enter the Custom House through the main doorway (towards the bathrooms).

Thank you so much for your help, I know where it will be now...:thumbsup2

Greetings all!
Just returned from a 10 day trip to the World. Iam soooo glad to be back home..(did I just say that? ):confused3 Anyways, like to let everyone know that the CBR did a wonderful job again. We checked into our room at 12:00 noon on the 13th of March, they gave us Martinique building 25, just as I requested a few days prior. The room was all ready for us and waiting. We got into the room, and it was very clean, no bed bugs, no insects, no mold, everything as perfect as I expected it to be. Mousekeeping kept it like that during our whole trip, which I was very generous towards them as well. There were a huge amount of high school age kids there. There was one group of kids that pretty much took over Trinidad South that were on their senior trip. There were ALOT of cheerleaders, dance groups, softball and baseball teams, lacrosse teams. I would have to say that the kids took up about 60 percent of the resort. But, I never had an issue with them, they were all well behaved, at the resort and on the bus. We had a wonderful time, but after 15 trips to the CBR my DH and I decided that it's time to change, and I think we'll be going to the WL next year. We've overstayed our welcome at the CBR and its time to move on. Thanks Safetymom for all your updates, everything was great! OH...and on a different note...I was more observent this year with the mugs. I noticed that more then 1/2 of the guest were not using the mugs, but were using the regular cups that they give you for pop, and they were refilling them!:scared1: and I thought I was bad when I brought 2 mugs from home from last year! I did buy 2 new ones this year for my girls. It was very interesting, I even saw a lady there with a POP mug! Oh well, that's how it goes, I guess the CMs really don't notice to well.:confused3

I will be at CBR April 1-8 and have a question regarding the main pool construction. Is the whirlpool still in use while they do the rehab? Also, are there whirlpools at the village pools? I love to use the whirlpool at night after a long day of walking and hope that one will be available. Otherwise I'll be filling our tub in the room each night to soak my tootsies.

TIA!

Sorry, the hot tub was right smack in the middle of the main pool area, which means it doesn't exist right now. And no, there are no such features at the village pools.

Hi everyone,
CBR is my favorite Disney resort! We might be going back in september. Hopefully the pool will be done by them (september 20th).
It will be our anniversary (5 years!). It seem I always celebrate at CBR... Getting my degree...having my son...my sister's graduation. My son want's to see the pirate pool! For us it's Aruba. After that nice walk my son can sit still for a 15 minute breakfast;-)
Seriously, do you guys think the pool will be open by september 20th???

Thank you

I think you may be able to swim in the new pool. Unless we have really crazy weather it should be done on time.

We are retuning to WDW next year (March 27-28) before our cruise. We haven't stayed at CBR since my sons were 12 and 7. Now they're 25 and 21. Plus we have 3 more DS (13, 11 and 9) I was thinking about CSR or PO. Reading this thread has made me want to revisit our families first resort. Luckily I have time to think about it. My only concern is the bus system to the parks. At CSR we rarely waited and it wasn't too crowded. We seemed to be closer to the parks due to the travel time. Where would be an ideal location for transportation? We will not have a car. We could see Epcot from our rooms way back when.
Thanks
Angie

Each village has their own bus stop so no matter where you are, you'll be near a stop. We were in Jamaica Building 41 and the walk was about 2 minutes to the bus stop. When we stayed in Martinique (I can't remember the building number), the walk was about a minute.

I think CBR's location is superior to CSR... I think it is a quick ride to almost all the parks, except AK. (then again, I've never stayed at CSR, just visited, so I can't compare;) )

We love staying in Jamaica. :lovestruc I like the walk across the bridge and at night with the lights... and the music... it is so relaxing and now I wish I was there!!!

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

I have stayed at CBR several visits and never had an issue with which room we got. This past trip Nov 10th - 17th we got a SECOND LEVEL room in Trinidad North (preferred room) and that's with requesting first floor.
Now, my issue is that we had a 12 month old and a 5 year old and since there are no elevators, this makes for some heavy lugging after a full day at the parks. Luckily we drove our rental car so we left the stroller in there but what if we didn't have that car? 2 sleeping kids and a stroller!
All the other visits, I got first floor rooms with kids and when we went without kids, we got second floor rooms. I just thought that they planned for families with young children to be in first floor rooms. I guess we were lucky all those OTHER times.
We are going again in Nov and I pray we get first floor room.
I have no idea how resorts assign rooms but I think they should take ages of children into consideration in a resort with no elevators. Is it just me?:confused3
OK, sorry, rant over. I still love CBR!!:lovestruc

Yikes! I'm glad I read this. I didn't realize they didn't have elevators. This was an issue when we stayed at POR. I'll have to add a 1st floor request to our ressie.

Did you ask at check-in or right after you realized you had a second floor room if you could switch? Or were all first floor rooms sold out or all first floor preferred rooms? On our last trip (Dec 07) we had asked for a specific room (we had gotten room 51xx three years in a row - it was a smoking room at the time so odds good) but due to a typo on the request we ended up with room 15xx. We asked for and got a room in our preferred building. They are more than happy to accomodate you if you ask and they have the rooms.

Can anyone tell me what are the best locations with out paying extra for them? Also when should I have my Dreams Unlimited agent put in a room request for me?

Put in the room request as soon as possible - at reservation time if you can.

As for best room, depends on what you are looking for. Short walk to OPR? Trinidad North or Buildings 25 & 26 in Martinique. Want a short walk but not near the main traffic areas? Jamaica or Aruba (building 51). Want to be close to the Custom House or main entrance/exit to resort? Barbados. Want to be as far away from everyone else? Trinidad South.
