Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

You can always call housekeeping and they will bring more towels.

And they really are fast... on the two trips we've had to CBR, mousekeeping has been wonderful! We also had one kid's glasses break - he lost the screw that holds them together - and maintenance came in like 5 minutes with a tiny screwdriver and a screw! Couldn't believe it -- all the CM's at CBR are really friendly!

... but kep in mind that once you reach your limit you can just authorize another room charge. At the Values, for example, you are not limited to room-charging $500 for your entire stay, just limited to $500 at a time. When you reach your limit, they will charge your credit/debit card, and then you can verbally authorize (like by phone) another $500 room charge, and so on.

And yes, at the Mods the upper limit is $1,000 and at the Deluxes it's $1,500. It's also possible to request a LOWER amount, if you desire.

In fact, I did just that... requested a lower amount, then asked to increase it, and it is just that easy!

What are the chances if I request a corner room of actually getting one? We had a corner room at POFQ and it was great. I just didn't care for the feel of the resort or pool.

Are the outside doors at CBR metal? I am planning on making a sign for our door & I want to know if magnets will stick.
thanks

We've never requested a corner room and ended up with one both visits -- they're nice, but I don't think they're that much better than regular rooms -- we never even opened the second set of blinds in our last visit.

I love all the pictures I have seen of the resort. I have always wanted a hammock and think it would be great to relax in one after a day at the parks . My question is, would my kids DD 18, DS 16 & DD's boyfriend still enjoy the resort with the main pool being closed? We have stayed @ the values and they enjoy the pools there.
Also compared to Pop, how large is CBR?

I had my DS16, his DF16, my and DS13 there last March -- they loved it! The hammocks are great, and they used the quiet pool much more than the main pool. There's lots to do and they'll have a great time!:thumbsup2

Do guests decorate their windows at CBR like they do at Pop with little personal things or for Christmas with decorations?? I wanted to know to either pack or not pack my window decorations we always use.....:confused3

Thank you for your help in advance..

Of course! While we don't do it ourselves, we've seen many a door and/or window decorated. :)

I'm amazed at much work some people put into decorating their windows. It's really fun to walk around and see the displays! I've not been there at Christmas before, but I bet it's really neat then!

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted my first post in this forum to be here in this thread. I also wanted to take some time to thank everyone for their candid reviews of CBR. I thoroughly read through this thread before making my decision to stay at CBR in Sept '07 (yeah, I know, I'm just now posting).

My partner and I were thrilled with the resort. The grounds were spectacular, the Mousekeeping always provided top-notch service (and got a big, fat tip in return), the pools were always clean, the food at the food court was quite good (especially the turkey dinner, yum!!) and the CMs were very friendly. I read in the thread that a couple w/o children would likely appreciate Trinidad South, being that the location was fairly far from the main pool, food court, etc. So about one month before leaving I sent a fax to CBR and requested exactly that - and got it!

Thanks again! While we had a great time last year at CBR we've decided to try something new this year so we'll be staying at POR in late April/early May.

Just made a last minute ressie for CBR March 23-27. My mom in Port Richey, who will be going on a cruise March 24 and then coming back to NY until November, is upset that I am not coming to see her and is giving me a major guilt trip so there is a slight chance I may cancel but that is a whole 'nother story.:scared1:  My question is that with little to choose from I booked a king size bed room. That was all that was available. Since I am paying more do I have preferred location status? Or is the extra fee just for the 'luxury' of the king size bed? I could care less about a king size bed actually. I am probably a little more limited in the location that I can get with a king size room? The courtyard sounds nice and I would like to be by one of the pools with the temporary slide and also by the foodcourt area. Based on that, what would be a good village or room to request? Thanks.

The villages with a temporary slide are Jamaica and Barbados. Jamaica is across the lake from the food court. No you don't have preferred status because you have a king bed room. Preferred is a separate booking category. You could be located anywhere in the resort. At most resorts a king bed is only a request but at CBR you can book a king bed room.

CBR has 3 possible upgrades which are available at an increased room rate. These are preferred location, water view, and king-size bed.

Preferred location means being in one of the six buildings closest to Old Port Royale (main pool food court, shops, etc.); these rooms are located in Trinidad North and half of Martinique. Water view means the room has a view of the lake or of the village's pool. King-size bed means it has a king-size bed.

Each village has some water view rooms (because each village fronts the lake and each village has its own pool) and each village has some king-size bed rooms. Those rooms aren't segregated into one particular section of each village.

So if preferred location is sold out, which means that your king-size bed room will not be in Trinidad North and will not be in Buildings 24 or 25 or 26 of Martinique. Water view is sold out, which means that your room won't face water. Your room could be in one of 27 different buildings contained in five villages.

A lot of people like Aruba and Jamaica because they are right across the lake (and across a bridge) from Old Port Royale. The non-preferred location buildings of Martinique are probably just as close to OPR. Trinidad South is the farthest village from OPR. Some people love it there because it's fairly secluded, and some people hate it there because ... it's fairly secluded.

CBR is a wonderful resort. I hope you love it there as much as I do!

Thank you all so much for all the information and updates!

We will be staying here April 5th through the 11th and this is just making me more and more excited!

We just switched our spring break ressies from Pop to CBR and I'm so excited! It's the first resort DH and I ever stayed at together and we just loved it. I can't wait to go back and see how we like it this time. We booked water view - it was the only category available - but I would really like a king bed. I'm going to ask for one at check-in and cross my fingers. I don't really care how far we are from the main building. We love the moderate resorts and don't mind them being so spread out.
