LOL! We are staying in a Pirate room for our first visit to CBR and I was initally worried because the general consensus was that it was out in the middle of nowhere and took forever to get anywhere from there. But, I tracked the distance through LogYourRun and it's only half a mile from the furthest building in TS to OPR. That's a walk from our house to the other end of our neighborhood and halfway back for me...not a long walk at all considering the walk from my daughter's school and back that we do nearly every day is a little over 2 miles. (And I'm far from being Seb Coe!)

Half a mile, yep, it's absolutely nothing, I walked out my room, either went over or under the bridge (over the bridge is actually quicker, that 15 secs will mean everything ) and you see the Pool area in front of you and it's then it's just a few minutes.

I guess some could say it's a pain if you want a fill-up on your resort mug, fair enough, but I stayed at AoA, AKL and popped into Pop as well and they could easily have a walk anyway, so not sure what the beef is really.

It's a fantastic resort, I absolutely loved the Pirates Room, I'd love maybe they're area to be spruced up a bit with some sort of Pirate effect or so, I guess the main pool has that type of theming, but think the Pirates Room Area (Trinidad South) could have some additional theming to it and a touch of Pirate/Caribbean music playing around lowly.

Good to hear this! We just booked a pirates room for December and I'm very excited. I don't mind walking too much, I stayed at AKL last time and had quite the trek down to the lobby anyway.

My beef is that late at night, after walking all day in the parks, the last thing I want to do is spend 10 minutes walking to the front to fill up my mug, and then spend 10 minutes walking back to my room. By the time I would get to my room the mug would be empty! When you are fresh and ready to go, 20 minutes is nothing. When you are tired and just want a drink, it can seem like forever.

Not to mention in the dark, if you are alone, the walk across the island is a little creepy.

I would definitely book a preferred room if I stayed at CBR again.

TOTALLY agree! We stayed at CBR twice before, in Aruba (my daughter and me). Going again for a couple of nights in September before heading to our DVC (with my DH), and was able to use the Annual pass code and reserved a preferred room so we don't have that walk - told my DH the same thing you guys are talking about. Fill up your mug and it's empty before you get back. CBR is beautiful anywhere you stay there, but I am going to save our legs and feet a little this time, and I really want to be near the food court this time. Can't wait! Now I'm wishing I was staying more than two nights!

What they should do now that they are going to the RFID mugs is put drink stations at each village quiet pool. Before the RFID system...they couldn't do it because everyone would be "stealing" free drinks. However, the RFID takes care of that.

That is another idea, although not sure about vandalism that could arise.

Although as I said, I went round quite a few resorts, and it's the same everywhere, there is a walk to get your drinks.

And personally I've spend countless 1000's on a holiday, if I'm that desperate for a drink I'll buy a bottle (fair enough it's $3) at the machine that is seconds from my door. And if need be then yes, you'd just need to lug your mugs about.

We just stopped getting refillable mugs altogether. We eat most meals in the park anyways and even deluxe resorts it is a pain to go back to room get mug and then go get a drink. Or worse carrying that darned thing around all day

I find I enjoy my stay so much better just by doing that. Only 13 days until we there

Now that the mugs are part of the dining plan, we make use of them but, before then (and even still) we place an order with Garden Grocer which includes several different kinds of drinks, breakfast bars, snacks, etc.

As we're renting a car, we'll probably go to Walmart the night we arrive or something to pick up some drinks, breakfast stuff etc.

I of course want Mickey waffles for breakfast! Looking forward to one every morning for breakfast before hitting the parks (can you order one plain, no toppings or meat or anything? How much less does it cost?)

Given the fact that the Pirate Rooms are an upgraded fee I would have thought they would have put them in a more desirable location...like Barbados or something. No?

I think they did that in purpose. That way they could make undesirable rooms desirable.

I'm pretty sure that Trinidad South was the least desirable/requested villages and Disney decided that there had to be a way to change that. Thus, the idea of the pirate rooms. For what it's worth, Trinidad South is not always the last bus stop. It's sometimes, in the middle of the bus route.

I think they did that in purpose. That way they could make undesirable rooms desirable.

I'm not sure if our time is deemed 'peak' but we stayed from 28th June to 3rd July and the buses were fine, loads of seating space.

Just curious on the coffee maker used at CBR. Based on what I've read on these boards, it sounds like it's a Cuisinart model that uses coffee "pads" and you can brew one or two individual cups at the same time.

Has anyone been able to use their own filters and ground coffee in this machine? I was thinking of bringing small (4-cup) filters but wasn't sure if the coffee maker would still "work".

The coffee makers are, indeed, the kind that use the "pads". The "pads" slide into a small drawer at the top and I'm almost positive that regular coffee filters won't work. Maybe you could see if your local grocery store sells the pad type coffees in your favorite brand.

I'm glad someone asked the coffee question...I was wondering and accidentally bought some of these awhile ago and will bring them with us now!
