Yes, Martinique is very close to the main building. Half of Martinique is preferred. If you look at the map in the link below, the letter B marks Old Port Royale which is where the food court, gift shop and arcade are located. The letter C is the main feature pool. As you can see, Martinique is right next to both of them. :thumbsup2

Awesome - thank you so much for your help! This is just what I was looking for! Now getting excited for November. When we were there last summer it was too hot to explore. This will be a great opportunity to really see the resort.
Thanks again!

You're welcome. And congrats on your upcoming stay! :thumbsup2

Can you request a location ahead of time? I thought you did that during online check in.

Hoping for some help...
We are staying at CBR as a part of our free dining promo in November. We are in Martinique - does anyone know if this is near the main building? I had asked for a preferred room. Apparently we now have a water view, too. I am having a hard time with the map. Any help is appreciated! (We stayed there last summer, but I can't seem to remember our area!)

Thanks!

Congrats on your stay! I'm curious...how do you know you are in Martinique with a water view if you booked a preferred room?

I usually call Disney Travel and ask that my location request be notated as soon as I make the reservation. Then, I make that same request when I do online check-in.

Booking preferred does not necessarily mean that you will definitely be in Martinique. You could also be placed in one of the buildings in Trinidad North since they are all preferred. The poster probably requested Martinique.

Hey CBR fans, just officially booked this morning with FD and I'm totally psyched to learn everything I can about this place! :cool1: It looks like a beautiful resort!!

Just a couple questions, I heard there is a refurb going on right now? Is this just for the rooms or will it be noticeable from the outside? I don't care about bed size or getting a refurbished room, I just want to make sure nothing will be going on that will take away from the "magic" or affect my stay.

Also, I booked online and didn't see any opportunity to put in a specific request (I'm booked standard but would like to request a good location just to sway the odds in my favor). Can I call in when the phone lines aren't so busy and just ask for it to be added to my reservation??

Thanks guys, hope to see some of you at CBR Sept. 30 - Oct. 4!!

What has been reported in the last week or so is the setting up of the construction staging area outside in the Jamaica parking lot. I believe that all refurb will be room only. I was told that they would start in one village, finish it and then move on to the next. I am sure that Disney doesn't want to detract from any guest's experience/resort ambience, so they'll keep the construction confined as best they can.

If you'd like, you can call Disney Travel and put in your requests. And, you can also add requests when you do online check-in. I do both just to make sure that they are notated.

Another CBR first timer via free dining looking for some info :goodvibes

Need help with building requests. We booked a King room. We want ground floor since there are no elevators, and would prefer to be near the food court which we use a lot. We would also prefer to be near a bus stop that's towards the start of the bus route. I'm leaning towards Jamaica 45 or 46, but it's hard to gauge how long of a walk it is through the Caribbean Cay island to the food court. Any suggestions?

Also, is there a consistent order for bus pick up and drop off or does it really vary?

Thanks!

The walks from Jamaica were about 5 minutes tops and it's an easy walk over the bridge, through the island and straight to Old Port Royale.

I wouldn't worry too much about being near a bus stop since each village and Old Port Royale have one.

Honestly, I'm not sure. The CM just said that he'd put me in a preferred room in Martinique with a water view. I'm sure that there's an extra charge, which is okay bc I knew that there would be with a preferred room.

This will be our 3rd visit to Disney, but first on sight. My dd will be turning 10 durring our visit! Our dates are 10/26-11/2. I am super excited to finally stay in Disney!!!!:yay:

My husband and I will be going to Disney World for the Tower of Terror 10 miler in October and are staying at the Caribbean Beach resort. This thread is wonderful and has me really excited about our stay. My understanding is that the bus for race events just stops at the main bus stop. I'm not sure how my legs will be doing after the race so I wanted to see if I could just request a room on the ground floor as close to the main bus stop as possible. I don't really care which "island" or building I'm in otherwise. Do you think this is possible or do I have to request a specific area?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. We like to board at a bus stop that is at the start of the pick-up loop. When we stayed at CSR last year, we were in the Cabanas section which is the last stop on the loop, so we ended up walking the distance to Casitas to be first on. Does CBR have a consistent pattern for bus pick-ups or is sporadic depending on driver, etc?

There are two entry points to the resort loop that the shuttles use. Which one they enter from depends on where the bus came from and where it's headed.

It all depends on which entrance the buses use. If they use the side entrance, the first stop will be Jamaica, followed by Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, Old Port Royale, Trinidad North and then Trinidad South. If they use the front entrance, the first stop will be Martinique, followed by Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba and then Barbados.

In all of our trips to the CBR, we have had good bus mojo and almost always got a seat on the buses even in the mornings. There have been a few times that we had to stand but not very often. The resort is centrally located so, even during times when we did stand, the ride to the parks was fairly quick.

I'd like to call tomorrow (hopefully the FD hoopla will have calmed down) and put in my location requests. After looking at the maps and reading this thread it looks like the best standard locations are Aruba 51 and Jamaica 45. Sound about right? Can I request two locations?

I've actually told them my two village preferences and they didn't mind noting them on my reservations. Just make sure that you have your preferences in the order in which they are most important to you.

I would say those two buildings or the non-preferred Martinique buildings. You can request more than one building...but remember, it's just a request. And many people people feel that keeping the requests to a minimum increase your chances of having them granted.

A week from today we will be checking in at CBR. I can't wait. It has been 9 years since we stayed here. I will defiantly do some spying on what is going on with the refurb for everyone and post pictures if I can!
