Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Hi everyone! We were so close to being set on booking preferred for June 25-July 2. Right now we are at Pop but wanted a more relaxed feel. We were going to request Martinique 25 but I just saw there will be a dance group (?) almost the entire time we are there. Kinda negates the whole relaxing vacation thing... does anyone have experience on whether these groups will take over the busses and main pool? If so I may just keep my existing reservation at Pop. Bummed!! Was so excited to try CBR. Thank you :)

Just so you know, POP Century is also used for sporting group overflow, so if they are there during your time frame you will encounter them at POP too.

Is there refurbishments happening to cbr this spring? I read it on a forum but can't find anything about it online

Thanks to everyone who responded about the groups. We were originally at POP then CBR only to hear about dance the world groups. I know there are groups everywhere but this has me concerned enough to more than likely change resorts. Was trying to save some money but will more than likely be back at AKL. Not that it's a bad thing... :)

Can someone tell me if the kids meal that comes in a sand pail just available at lunch or is it at dinner also?

During our stay in 2011 it was also available at dinner. We never had dinner at OPR during our last trip.

Hello all, I returned back from a 3 night stay at CBR the beginning of this month (I also stayed 1 night at ASMo, and YC before and after CBR). I just wanted to express how pleased I was with this resort! I, in fact, was so pleased that I will be staying there again for a night or two when I fly down for a brief trip at the end of the month. Now, having been a lurker on this post for about 2 or 3 months I see how everyone loved Martinique, Aruba and Trinidad. I was contemplating requesting these buildings on my last trip, but decided to go request-less. I, of course, upon arrival was not assigned to any of those. I was given a room in Barbados 11. Which I hardly ever see any posts about Barbados. So I would like to post here and show Barbados some love. I (as aforementioned) was in Barbados 11, which was the building closest to Aruba. I woke up every morning and watched the sunrise from the Aruba beach, as it was much closer than the Barbados beach to me. I really liked the room. I will admit that I am glad that they will be giving them some TLC soon :) but otherwise I was so pleased. I am a big fan of peace and quiet and that was what I had in Barbados. I will admit the walk to Old Port Royale was a little longer than from most other areas but it was a nice walk. I loved looking out at the lake and walking on the beaches. I also took advantage of eating dinner on the porch one night and we watched Cinderella right from there. Fantastic! Can't wait to do it again!

Thanks for your review! We've stayed in Barbados 11 before for two nights pre-Disney cruise and I loved the location. Like you said, it was nice and quiet.

We love Barbados too! Our favorite is 14 building because it is close to the pool and laundry and yet quiet and peaceful. We always rent a car so being close to OPR isn't as important. We requested a room in Barbados for our trip next month too!

I also stayed in Barbados 11, in September of last year. Definitely enjoyed it there, very peaceful and a nice view of everywhere. I'm not making any requests (at least not yet) for where I want to be in May, but I would be fine being in Barbados again.

DD, DSiL, DGS and I are planning a trip to WDW in April 2015. We will be staying in 2 rooms in a moderate, hopefully adjoining. DD has talked about trying CBR. If we do it would only be in a preferred location and maybe only if the remodel does happen.

Many years ago DH and I visited CBR to check it out. It appeared that the food court consisted of individual areas which each had a different type of food and had separate checkouts. Is it still that set up? Do the different areas connect or must you check out at each individual area? At the time it struck me as a poor arrangement for families that wanted to eat different things.

There are separate ordering areas for the different types of food, but one central area where everyone checks out and pays. So your family could get food at separate stalls and all pay together. Basically along one side of the walkway is all the "stalls" for food and the other side has the registers and the seating area. I took this picture in September. The food stalls are made to look like different buildings but it's just facades, and each has a "type" of food (pizza & pasta, burgers, etc). They are on the right side of the picture, and the seating area is on the left. You go thru the registers to get to the seating area.

I'm almost embarrassed to be posting in yet another "official resort thread" for our little trip, but I'm (pretty) sure this is it! We're 4 weeks out and CBR is the choice!

We booked a preferred room as we have 2 sets of little legs (3, really, if you count my wife as well) and while taking a stroll around the resort once might be nice, we're staying here because of the amazing looking pool and we want to be able to jump back to the resort, get our suits on and jump in immediately during those crazy mid-day crowds!

Question: we requested a first floor room because of the little ones and the stroller we'll be totting around and also "closest to food court and pool", which seems redundant with the booking of preferred room and all but figured better safe than sorry. Is there a better building or two to request rather than that very broad statement? Martinique Preferred buildings actually look a bit closer on the map but that could be a scale issue - is there any more advantageous builings to others? If Martinique is slightly closer, is there any reason *not* to request it??

Thanks again !

I would suggest that you request a downstairs room in Martinique buildings 25 or 26. Martinique 26 is, literally, just a few minutes walk to the food court, main pool, kids' play area, etc. We have stayed in both preferred and non-preferred Martinique buildings and have had no issues with walking at all.

At this point, would it be better to call that in or just request it on the online check-in form that I can do any day now?

There's no fax-process like with the PO resorts at CBR, right? (fax requests 5 days prior to checkin)

I like to call and put in my requests as early as possible and then call again about a week out to confirm that they are still noted. Nope, no faxes at the CBR.

Loved that last picture that was posted Friends have raved about this resort so much that DH and I will be there the beginning of Sept for my BIG BD celebration ( 60 :goodvibes ) I am getting so excited planning this trip :thumbsup2

I didn't go for a preferred room and haven't put in any requests yet It seems that there will be some refurb/construction planned soon ?

I have subscribed to the thread and plan to lurk ;) but any advice is much appreciated Near a pool and first floor corner room sounds wonderful Is that only at preferred rate ?

First floor, corner rooms wouldn't been preferred. Pool/water view would. We've asked for first floor every time my mother travels with us and our requests have been granted.

The room refurb is supposed to start April, 2014 in one section and they'll work their way around the resort until it's done.
