Good Morning to All, have not been on Dis for a while.

Not to be funny or disrespectful to anyone, I know the queen bed post is very important to you guy's but I will sleep on the floor just to go to WDW. :lmao:

I don't find the post disrespectful at all because I totally get where you are coming from. Obviously, I don't care too much about the queen beds or I'd be staying at another resort. Having said that, I wouldn't mind them switching the bed size though.

I was the poster who had the online chat with the Disney castmember who mentioned that the CBR may be getting the queen beds. I haven't been able to get any more information even though I've had a few more online chats. I did talk with a travel agent who went on a training tour of the CBR and several other resorts and she said that there was no mention of CBR getting a refurb. Hopefully, somebody can get more information for all of us who are wondering.

They wouldnt have to get a refurb just add queen beds and that would be great ! We have a wiggly 9 year old that takes turns sleeping in either my bed or her moms and queen size would be great to keep her wiggly little self over a bit :lmao:

The online chat castmember said that the CBR was scheduled to be the next resort undergoing a rehab and that it would be complete by the end of 2012. When I asked about queen beds, he said (and I'm not looking at the exact words so this is not a quote) he felt that they would get them since the other moderates had them (with the exception of the Ft. Wilderness cabins).

I suspect you will see Queen beds in the next few years. Mods are running $200 and up for a night...they probably wisely know they need to have added reasons to distance the mod resorts from values.

But I thought CBR was just recently refurbished with the finding Nemo rooms? While I've never stayed at any values, there are some on these boards who are saying that ASMO are in desperate need of getting redone. So why would they go back to CBR so soon?

CHEERS! :thumbsup2

I thought it was a little bit odd too that they would do a refurb so soon. The Nemo rooms were done about three years ago.

I figured they needed to add the queen beds so that they could continue to charge the same rate as the other moderates.

Second guessing and going crazy! we have CBR booked and arrive in 20 days! but now im thinking CSR may be a better choice for us (just 2 adults..)

help??:confused3

Oh good I hope they get queen beds before October 2012 ! It may not be by then but it would be nice lol.

I questioned whether or not the refurb would be complete by the time we arrived on May 23, 2012 and he didn't have that info. All he said was that it was to be complete by the end of 2012. Of course, I'm still taking it all with a grain of salt until I actually hear a report from someone onsite who actually sees the refurb going on. ;)

Just got back from our latest trip, and stayed at CBR 9/24 to 10/1. This was our second stay at this resort, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We were in Jamaica 44, on the ground floor and facing the courtyard. A perfect location for us.

We only ate breakfast once in the food court, but not because we didn't like the food. I'm NOT a morning person, and the only way to make rope drop is for DH to make the coffee and spread the cream cheese on those bagels while I'm trying to pry my eyelids open in the shower:lmao:

We found our room to be in very good condition, and mousekeeping did a great job while we were there. The buses were great, and we never seemed to wait more than a few minutes, both at the resort and at the parks.:thumbsup2

We did run into a couple of small glitches. When we checked in we were not given any of our requests (which were based on medical need). But when we explained why we needed that first floor room (can't do stairs) and had to be close to the bus, they were very good about changing our room. It wasn't ready yet (it was 8:00 am), but they promised to text us. This never happened. We ended up going to AKs Guest Relations as we left the park at 5:00 and had them call over to find out our room number. :confused3

We didn't arrive at our room till 9:00pm, because we had dinner at the BC. On arriving, we found out our keys didn't work.:sad2: Had no clue where the house phone was (later found out it was near the ice machine). So back to the Custom House to explain our problem. They checked that our keys were, in fact, OK. Then sent us back with a CM who had a master key. Her master didn't work either, and had to use a manual key to get us in the room. But they had a tech there within 15 minutes to repair it (ended up having to replace the whole lock mechanism). So I can't fault them for not trying their hardest to fix an unforseen problem. Kudos to them.:thumbsup2

Our other big glitch happened on our last night. We had charging privileges on our KTTW cards, and the front desk had a credit card number, but we had planned to pay off the charges with cash. This was the most economical method for us (we're Canadian, and had set up a US dollar savings account when the Canadian dollar was very strong against the US one). For some unknown reason, the resort had charged $400 worth of charges to our Visa 2 days earlier!!!:headache: Even though we were allowed $1,000 in charges before they should have billed us, or they should have waited until the last night, if the charges were less than the limit. Needless to say, we were not impressed. Since the Canadian dollar had recently dropped in value against the US dollar, that charge to our Visa was going to be considerably more expensive than if we paid in cash. DH talked this over with the front desk manager (ANOTHER trip to the Custom House) who couldn't explain why the charge had been made, and agreed that it was a mistake. The charge to Visa was cancelled, DH paid in cash, and Disney gave us an additional $25 credit to compensate for the currency conversion charges. So a major irritation, but have to give them credit for admitting their mistake and correcting it promptly.:thumbsup2

Sorry this has ended up running on so long. To make a long story short (I know... too late), our stay was not without issues, but they in no way spoiled our vacation, and I appreciated the fact that the CMs went out of their way to correct them right away. We'll definitely be going back to CBR on a future visit.

Sorry you had to experience issues that cost you time and money. Glad CBR CM's and Managers fixed the problems and ended on a WDW Magical Happy note. Glad you made it back to Canada safe and sound. :thumbsup2

I don't like putting a charging privleges on the KTTW card. In 2009 we went to Teppan Edo. I had and appetizer which wasn't part of the DP and said I would be paying cash for that and the rest of the tip. They charged my KTTW card for the appetizer and kept the entire amount of cash. I called down to the front desk (at POP) and they took the charge off. So this time I won't be adding charging privleges to our KTTW card.

I ordered Garden Grocer for soda, water, snacks, and some breakfast items. The resort mugs would have cost us $15 x 4. I am more of a water drinker and it would have been a waste for me. My hubby's a diabetic and I need to keep him fed:wizard:

These our our plans for our trip next week:

Oct 12th arrive, pick up our groceries, go to our room, rip off our clothes(put on some suits) and swim. Dinner DTD at WPE, movie at CBR?

Oct 13th room breakfast, BBB at noon at DTD, QS lunch (maybe Earl of Sandwich)back to the resort for some naps, swimming? MNSSHP at 4 CRT 5:50PM

Oct 14th room breakfast, off to HS, lunch 12 at Sci Fy, Dinner 5:50 at Cape May

October 15th resort day

October 16th off to the Dream for 4 days
October 20th back from the Dream and off to the MCO Hyatt
October 21st back to reality!

I am looking at Old Port Royale Food Court menu on allears. I'm hoping someone can give me some more info, in particular, the menu shows a reuben sandwich- does this come with any sides (fries, salad, chips) same question for the hotdog.
Also, I see pasta on the kids menu, how about for adults, any pasta oferings?
And finally, what can I expect for dessert offerings?
OH, and one more, what about beverages, are any bottled juiced or milk available to adults or just water and fountain drinks (on the DDP)

My husband always gets the Reuben sandwich from the food court. I'm trying to remember what the side item was that he got in the past but can't. I do know that he got the homemade chips with it this last trip (May, 2011). My son and mother both got fries with their hot dogs (and with their burgers).

I have gotten penne pasta from the pizza and pasta station many times and it was very good. I asked for extra marinara sauce and they put it in a cup for me. I have also seen adults with spaghetti too.

As far as desserts go, there are usually several items to choose from. Key lime pie, carrot cake and pineapple upside down cake seem to be there every trip. There are also quite a few fresh baked items in the grab n go station. Things like cookies, cupcakes and brownies. During our last trip, we had the monkey cupcakes which were super delicious.

You won't have any problems finding bottled drinks for adults and kids. There are several types of fruit juices, powerade, coca cola products and both chocolate and white milk. You will also find all sorts of alcoholic beverages such as beers, wine coolers, etc.

I posted pictures of the food court and the grab n go section over on the CBR picture thread. I believe this will help you out.

Hello - I know this may not answer all of your questions, but if you want a great Ruben. go to The Plaza at MK and the Sci-Fi at Hollywwod Studios.

Most of the kids selection is large enough for Adults. The CM's never questioned me when I ordered the kis'd selection for me. They offer a Sand Pail kids selection that comes with FF and other choices.

In the grocery area by the Information desk there is all kinds of beverages to choose from, from Juice to adult beverages. As far as dessert offerings the counter service and grocery area all have some sort of sweet offerings.

Hope this informations help a little bit.

Have a great vacation.

Great pictures, thank you that really helps.

Now, one more clearification question, are the items in the picture from the grab and go (milk, juice, fruit bowl and cupcakes) allowed as part of my CS meal (beverage and dessert)
