Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Looking at the map, it seems Aruba or Jamacia (right by the bridge) isnt too bad. When making a request, do you ask for a section or building or both? And, if you do, does it decrease your odds of being upgraded to a pref location? Yeah, lots of questions :)

The only thing I currently have noted on the reservation is a 1st floor request.... since there are no elevators, its really a pain to drag a stroller up the steps multiple times a day! thanks!

Don't be concerned about decreasing your odds of being upgraded to a preferred location room ... the odds of getting a free upgrade are very very slim to begin with ... it happens, but it happens to a very very very low percentage of people.

If you want to be as close to Old Port Royale as possible, you may be well-served to word the request that way: "as close to food court as possible" or something like that.

The distances within CBR can be deceiving. Yes, it's true that Aruba building 51 and Jamaica building 45 (as well as Martinique building 22) are as close as you can get to OPR without paying for preferred location. However, it's also true that Aruba 56 and Jamaica 41 are as far a walk from OPR as are half of the buildings in Trinidad South, the village famous for being the farthest away from OPR. That's why merely requesting Aruba or Jamaica isn't sufficient, in my opinion, because if you get Jamaica 41 you're in the farthest standard (non-Pirate) building in all of CBR.

thank you for your input! This will be our 1st stay at CBR..... I have had pixie dust sprinkled on us before and we were upgraded by pure magic (it helps to go at slower times of the year I think!). Mulling over if $200 is worth it to be close to the main pool.... decisions, decisions! On a purely unrelated note, I would love to be in Aruba, for the mere fact its one of my favorite islands ever! Good thing plenty time of time left to stress over this!

I was wondering, are the Islands (Martinique, Aruba etc) all different? Or is it just they are a different colored building? Just wondering if it was worth a look into the other ones or not. If they are basically the same I wont bother walking all the way around the lake (because Im a lazy mare!! heheh).

All the same, just different colors.

The rooms are all exactly the same. The buildings are different colors and the landscaping may be different. CBR is a lovely resort to stroll around.

No the mugs have not changed if you got the one where the design goes further down the mug.

Thanks. :sad1: A new mug is like a souvenir for us. I don't want the same one again. I WANT A NEW ONE! :headache: (Do I sound like a petulent child? Good, I meant to). ;)

Am I allowed to bring an inflatable pool float for my 1 year old? I realize they provide lifejackets, but she's 1 and can't simply wear a life jacket. I feel much safer having her in a float that I can hold onto. Instead of trying to hold onto her slippery wet body, and she'd probably be trying to get out of my arms.
I'm thinking something like this: http://www.target.com/11608-Swimway...&searchRank=target104545&sr=1-12&searchPage=1

You can, they just can't have the sunshade on them. At least thats what the lifeguards said last year.

I have to totally agree. We requested the old Aruba 51/Jamaica 45 and did not get it -- understandably so, as not everyone can, yet everyone requests it. However, the Barbados building we got was fabulous. It was close enough fine and we were close to a bus stop, which was very valuable to us. When I felt that I had to walk over the bridge, I just did it after I got morning coffee, and it actually seemed long to some of those Aruba places. Loved our unexpected location. I admit I was disappointed when they first told me where we were, but then, I realized it was a blessing actually.

djfan88-where in barbados were you? we requested jamaica 45 as my dd looked at photos and loves jamaica. im looking at barbados 13, parking lot side. it seems much better as it is so close to the bus stop. i could easily get the internal shuttle to the main bldg. wondering if i would be better off there.

I am considering Barbados as well. Has anyone stayed here and if so how was the location? I would love to see some recent photos of these rooms if anyone has those as well.

Thanks. :goodvibes

Hi all, we will be staying at CBR for the first time this October. I have a question about check out day. We are Floridians and will be driving home, but on our final day we are having breakfast in Epcot - then maybe hitting a few rides in Future World before we head home. I know getting late check out is very difficult, so could someone explain to me how we would check our luggage, then pick it up at CBR on our way home? I ask because I had read that someone must stay with the luggage when they check it. Sorry if this has been asked before, but the different policies I've read for different hotels has my mind spinning. Thanks for any and all help!

my head is spinning to find a good hotel and I found one CBR! I really wanted to stay in CBR so badly! I really wanted to stay in Martinique that I considering Martinique so I can walk alone to the Old Port Royale Centertown to have a drink!

We always check our luggage (which we carry on on the plane) with Bell Svc. after we have checked out of our room. Its really not a problem and no, no one must stay with it. We've done it every trip. Have a great time!!!

While I haven't driven, I agree with 'mom' that Bell Svcs will hold ANYONE's luggage on day of check-out, until you come and get it. :thumbsup2 Have fun! :goodvibes

Has anyone had a problem with exceeding the number of occupants allowed in a CBR room?

:cool1:
