Go for the closer location especially if you plan to use the main pool, have refill mugs or use the food court for dining.
That's exactly what I was thinking.

Don't be concerned about decreasing your odds of being upgraded to a preferred location room ... the odds of getting a free upgrade are very very slim to begin with ... it happens, but it happens to a very very very low percentage of people.Looking at the map, it seems Aruba or Jamacia (right by the bridge) isnt too bad. When making a request, do you ask for a section or building or both? And, if you do, does it decrease your odds of being upgraded to a pref location? Yeah, lots of questions
The only thing I currently have noted on the reservation is a 1st floor request.... since there are no elevators, its really a pain to drag a stroller up the steps multiple times a day! thanks!

If you want to be as close to Old Port Royale as possible, you may be well-served to word the request that way: "as close to food court as possible" or something like that.
The distances within CBR can be deceiving. Yes, it's true that Aruba building 51 and Jamaica building 45 (as well as Martinique building 22) are as close as you can get to OPR without paying for preferred location. However, it's also true that Aruba 56 and Jamaica 41 are as far a walk from OPR as are half of the buildings in Trinidad South, the village famous for being the farthest away from OPR. That's why merely requesting Aruba or Jamaica isn't sufficient, in my opinion, because if you get Jamaica 41 you're in the farthest standard (non-Pirate) building in all of CBR.
I was wondering, are the Islands (Martinique, Aruba etc) all different? Or is it just they are a different colored building? Just wondering if it was worth a look into the other ones or not. If they are basically the same I wont bother walking all the way around the lake (because Im a lazy mare!! heheh).
No the mugs have not changed if you got the one where the design goes further down the mug.
Am I allowed to bring an inflatable pool float for my 1 year old? I realize they provide lifejackets, but she's 1 and can't simply wear a life jacket. I feel much safer having her in a float that I can hold onto. Instead of trying to hold onto her slippery wet body, and she'd probably be trying to get out of my arms.

Hi all, we will be staying at CBR for the first time this October. I have a question about check out day. We are Floridians and will be driving home, but on our final day we are having breakfast in Epcot - then maybe hitting a few rides in Future World before we head home. I know getting late check out is very difficult, so could someone explain to me how we would check our luggage, then pick it up at CBR on our way home? I ask because I had read that someone must stay with the luggage when they check it. Sorry if this has been asked before, but the different policies I've read for different hotels has my mind spinning. Thanks for any and all help!
While I haven't driven, I agree with 'mom' that Bell Svcs will hold ANYONE's luggage on day of check-out, until you come and get it.We always check our luggage (which we carry on on the plane) with Bell Svc. after we have checked out of our room. Its really not a problem and no, no one must stay with it. We've done it every trip. Have a great time!!!
