If going exactly by proper etiquette or whatever, tipping is on the subtotal before tax. Personally, I never bothered with that ... I always err on the side of tipping more rather than less.

I think I will stick with my guesstimates on our tips with the tax included.

*Side note: I thought of your reply a while back when someone else asked about walking to the parks from CBR. I :rotfl2: every time I think of your response... Classic!

Discussing Tipping here is quite OT for a Resorts thread.

There is a Tipping thread on the Restaurants board.

While at WDW at TS restaurants suggested tip amounts will be printed on your receipt. I believe the amounts are 15% and 20%, though the 15% could be 18%.

Quite aware, already apologized for going off topic. Thanks for your help. I was just simply looking for the tax amount.

I saw a bunch of posts earlier in the thread about room renovations. Yes I'm going through the whole thread now.

Does anyone know if they are completed at this point? If not I will have to call again and add "recently renovated room" to my room requests.

Thanks!

All of the rooms have been renovated :thumbsup2

Here are my pictures of the new rooms. They should all be done. Only Trinidad South which are becoming Pirate rooms are not done.

Guess I should have waited until I read more...you posted this in March Safetymom.

Oh and while I'm at it can I tell you that I really apperciate all the info you and others have here on CBR. This will be my first stay at this resort. I initially booked POR because I thought the boat would be nice but once I looked at the pictures of the rooms I realized that wasn't my style. Then I saw the pics of CBR and thought "Oh! Bright colors! They make me happy!" and changed the reservation. Now I'm just trying to learn all I can.

Does CBR have connecting rooms with a King connecting to 2 doubles? Also, are any of the pirate rooms connecting? The King would not necessarily have to be a pirate room but I know the kids would love it in the 2 doubles!

Sorry, haven't read through the whole thread. Trying to book a trip when DH returns from Iraq and since we are a family of 5, we usually have to stay Deluxe or PO. We are currently booked at Shades of Green but would love to switch to 2 rooms somewhere if possible.

Thanks for your help!

Since the king-size bed rooms aren't segregated in any one spot, it stands to reason that there are king-size bed rooms that connect with standard rooms.

It also stands to reason that there are connecting rooms in the Pirate section (Trinidad South) just like in every other village.

HOWEVER, there is no such thing as a king-size bed in a Pirate room. The Pirate rooms all have two double-beds per room.

Since on my reservation I didn't ask for any type of location. I just booked standard with free dining. What is the furthest building we would be in? We plan on spending one day by the pool before MNSSHP. If it makes any diffrence we have stayed at SSR twice and every room we had there was far away from the main pool and we managed. I think by the sounds of it CBR is around the same size.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to give everyone on this thread a heartfelt thank you for all the tips and info you provided us. We just returned from an 11 night stay at CBR and loved every minute of it!

We did the online check-in, which worked out very well. We had booked a standard room, but were surprised with an upgrade to Trinidad North (building 32). Our room even overlooked the water! We enjoyed our breakfasts from our little table in our room, gazing out at the water. Lovely! Mousekeeping was very efficient and timely. We always had more than enough towels and the room was always left clean.

We had a car, so I can't comment on Disney transportation. Sorry

We ate at OPR 3 times for lunch. We just LOVED the BLT sandwich in multi-grain bread with a raspberry dressing on it of some kind. We had it more than once! We were going to eat at Shutters, but we were dining with family on a couple days and they didn't want to go there. Next time I guess!

We enjoyed watching Illuminations from Martinique beach, while sitting on the lounge chairs. Afterwards, we loved walking the entire pathway around the lake, just taking in the beautiful lights reflecting on the water. It is such a lovely resort.

The big pool is definitely great! However, I must admit to spending the majority of our time at our little quiet pool at Trinidad North. On many occasions, we had the pool all to ourselves, which can't be beat after dealing with the crowds in all the parks.

In short, we LOVED CBR and would definitely consider staying there again. It is our first moderate resort stay, so I admit to not being able to compare it to others. We usually do split stays between a value and deluxe resort. We were not disappointed with CBR. Thanks so much for making our trip such a good one! :goodvibes

Welcome back! :goodvibes Glad you enjoyed your time at CBR!

All these families returning from wonderful stays at CBR makes me so excited for our trip. This is a much needed vacation and the fact that this is our 1st visit to CBR makes in all the more magical. :wizard:

Judging by your siggie it looks like we will be there the same time with girls very close in age :) I too can not wait!!!

I'm HERE now!!! :cool1: only a little over 24 hrs but, after a DME error, I must say that bell services really picked up the ball and helped to correct the luggage error! We walked into our room which had 2 towel swans and, what we call a boo-boo buddy, wrapped around the pen. Awesome, and I left a mousekeeping tip that 1st night (this morning) and told them so. (they took them away tho :confused3) I believe we have a very observant mousekeeper tho - she saw the blow up mattress, deflated but, she left another blanket. :thumbsup2 Trouble is, it really IS deflated! The plug and cap aren't in the box!!! :scared1: Re: Bell Services, again, we had a Garden Grocer delivery and they delivered to Bell Services?? :confused3 Anyway, we called BS again and they were already getting our groceries ready for delivery - they said within 20 minutes! I'm pretty sure it was less. :thumbsup2 After ALL that, getting to our room about 1AM, and getting our lost luggage by about 1:30 AM and, GG delivering to BS at 8:30 and BS delivering ASAP, WE MADE A 10:45 ADR at Wilderness Lodge Whispering Canyon! I was Magically surprised to start our first Full day on such great service!

Does anyone here know if leaving the cabinet door open in the frig area helps the contents get ANY cooler? That's the only MINOR thing we noticed today. Our stuff wasn't cold after we got back after 12+ hrs.

Loving it all tho, especially resort delivery of purchases! And, no offense, shorter bus lines than the values. Sorry. :scared1: More later!

Were the items you put in your frig room temperature? If that is the case, it may take awhile to get cold, just a thought. Our frig at CBR worked fine when we were there.

Hope you have a great trip!

Joining the thread!

We are planning our next trip for August (DS's 16th birthday), and we are planning to stay at CBR for the first time. Thanks to all for so much great information! :thumbsup2

Also a recent subscriber - Both my husband and I stayed here once when we were kids (I think I was 6?) I don't remember much about it except for a parrot in the lobby :) It's obviously changed a lot and I'm really enjoying this thread. We're looking at staying here or Music on our next trip. Thanks for sharing all the great info!:thumbsup2
