Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

We were upgraded in June to Martinique 26 which is preferred. Martinique 24 is NOT preferred and the walk is only a few minutes...less than 5. In 2007 we stayed in Jamaica and we did have a decent walk to the main pool and food court. We LOVE CBR but next year we booked bounce back at CSR just to try a different moderate...oh and because they have queen size beds.

I'm sorry but I believe Martinique 24 *is* a preferred building. Please correct me if I am wrong.

We're going to be at the CBR in Nov. for my DH's birthday. When I made the reservation, we used the 40% off military promotion. I also told them it was his birthday and requested we get a 1st floor room because he walks with a cane and has a brace. I've been checking my reservation and noticed they have us down for a preferred room, which I didn't request or pay extra for. Do you think this might be some pixie dust? I sure hope so. I'd hate for it to be a mistake. What do you all think? Should I check on it or just wait and see what happens when we get there?

Martinique 24 is NOT preferred

Martinique building 24 is absolutely definitely a preferred location building. CBR has 6 of them ... Martinique 24-25-26 and Trinidad North 31-32-33. The non-preferred location buildings in Martinique are 21-22-23.

Lucky us then to get two upgrades this summer. I did not pay for a preferred room and they put us in 24 during our Aug trip. In June we had a standard view room and we were put in Martinique 26. That is why I assumed it was not a preferred room. Someone on here did tell me that Martinique 24 was not preferred and they also had waterview rooms.

A preferred building can have a view of the parking lot. The preferred buildings do NOT guarantee a water view. They are just closer to Old Port Royale.

Thanks, Eric :goodvibes I *thought* I had been enough times to know but just needed someone to clarify.

Is paying for a waterview room the same as paying for a preferred room? I booked a waterview room and requested Martinique because 24 had waterview rooms.

Waterview and preferred are 2 seperate booking categories. You can book one or the other, but not both. You can book one and request the other, but you are only guaranteed to get the one you booked.

Waterview will get you a room with a view of a pool or the lake. This can be in any building that has a view of water from the window.

Preferred will get you a room close to OPR - Trinidad North 31,32,33 or Martinique 24,25,26.

But the question is does the waterview room cost more when booking as opposed to a regular view room? I booked a preferred room this summer for CSR. I've got to do some research on this resort since we have never stayed there before.

Yes a waterview room costs extra over a regular room at CBR. Personally it isn't worth the extra money. Your view may overlook a quiet pool, or you may have to crane your neck for a view of the lake. I think the preferred location charge is worth it if you want to be near the pool and food court.

Yes, a waterview costs more. The same extra charge as a preferred room. But they are 2 seperate booking categories. Check out this room rate chart: http://www.allears.net/acc/faq_cbr.htm It's pretty easy to understand there.

CSR doesn't offer a preferred room, so I'm not sure how you could have booked that. They do offer a waterview room. http://www.allears.net/acc/faq_cs.htm

How long does it take to walk ove the bridge and Island from the Jamaica side to the OPR side and pools. That does look like an ideal spot. Especially building 45.

From Jamaica 45, maybe 3 minutes. From the further out Jamaica buildings add a few more minutes.

Here's a video of 2 ladies walking from what appears to be Jamaica 43 or 44 and it takes them about 3 1/2 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Sjg_AgYwNE

Nice video. Gives you an idea of the distance. Too bad the shaky camera is enough to make you sick

 I know!

I like it though because it does give a nice factual idea of the distances. Sometimes you hear - "I walked forever from Jamaica 43 to OPR". When in-fact forever was probably only 3-4 minutes!

I'm enjoying reading this. Looks like we'll be staying here in January!
