Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

We will be arriving in 10 days. I currently have a Pirate Room booked and asked for water view, first floor. After reading this thread, I realize that water view could mean pool or lake. I really want to be close to the beachy area near the playground. Is there a specific building I should request or should I just ask for an area near the beach/playground?

I noticed you used the words "ASKED for a water view." I just want to clarify ... did you REQUEST a water view or did you pay for and RESERVE a water view. I ask this because if you merely requested it, you should know that water view is a separate booking category that costs more per night, and thus if you merely requested it you have a very low chance of getting that request met.

Anyway, to answer your question, your best bet is to put the request in words, such as "near beach and playground." If you really want a building number (not as effective as telling them what feature you want), request building 38.

HAVE FUN! :yay:

Thanks. I guess I do need to clarify myself. I PAID extra for the water view...I thought that meant lake view. But after reading through the thread, I found out that can also mean pool view. So, I guess I need to call them back and request beach/playgroung view.

OK my plan was to read all of the posts before posting but I gave up at about page 36. Whew!!!

I believe we have decided to stay at CBR in Mar 2010. We will be 4-5 adults ( DH and I and 2 or 3 young adults), getting 2 rooms and so we would like to be near a beach and a quieter pool. The main pool really does not matter to us. Nor does being near Old Port Royal. So I am thinking Aruba or Jamaica. Is there any difference between their pools and their beaches (is one better than the other)? Would it be best just to request Aruba or Jamaica and be near beach and pool?
Also are there elevators in the buildings? We stayed at POR Riverside last Dec and they did not have any. Just wondering.

Aruba or Jamaica are both good choices. I would pay for a water view room if you want to be close to the beach. Otherwise you could be at the back of the resort. No elevators at CBR.

We are less than 3 weeks till blast off now - and very excited!! I've soo many threads so I know that Aruba and Jamaica (45 and 51 right?) are good buildings to request if you didn't pay for preferred view. My question is are we better off just requesting close to OPR or the specific buildings? As I've said before our youngest will be about 16 months old so it is important to be close to the main area for us. What do you think?

I have read they are refurbishing rooms at CBR. Have they done the entire resort or just certain sections?

We have booked preferred locations for our August trip. We requested #26 Martinique. I am just curious if these rooms will have been redone or not when we get there.

Thank you in advance.

All of the rooms are completely done with the exception of some of the pirate rooms in Trinidad South - I believe they may still be finishing those.

So you will definitely get a new room! :goodvibes

Are there any buildings in Aruba or Jamaica that do not face or back on to a parking lot. Wondering if you could request a building were you knew for sure that you would not have a parking lot view. Any other view is just fine.

I think Jamaica 45 & 42 and Aruba 55 & 52 (or even Barbados 15) would be the best non-preferred bet for not facing a parking lot and being very close to the beach. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm

Thanks Momof2Disneyboys. That was just the information I was looking for. I also wanted to ask you a couple more minor questions:

Do they pipe in music around the pool area and the resort in general and
Are the areas outside the room and paths pretty clean around the resort?

You're welcome! :goodvibes

You know, I'm not sure about the music. It used to be piped through the island, but I'm not sure it was there this time. . . :confused3 Maybe someone else knows. . . I am pretty sure we still heard it at OPR and the pool.

The outside of the rooms and paths were exceptionally clean on our recent trip (January). I did notice this and commented on it to DH. Whenever we would come back to the room mid-day they were always hosing down the outside of the doors and the paths. One day we were in the room taking a break and we heard them cleaning outside of our room with a pressure washer. When we were ready to leave we had to slowly open our door and make a break for it!! :rotfl:

Momof2disneyboys,

Thanks again for your reply. I am glad to hear that they are so diligent about hosing everthing down outside the door and paths and don't mind dodging water myself as long as the areas around the room look nice and clean!

I am researching and gathering information on CSR just in case that ends up being our choice for our next trip!

I am wondering which area the standard view pirate rooms are in? Are any of these close to the main pool?

Thanks in advance.

No.

100% of the Pirate rooms are in Trinidad South, which is the village farthest from Old Port Royale, the complex that has the main pool, food court, etc.

We are staying in the Pirate Theme rooms out in Trinidad SOuth. Are there any requests we should make? Particular building, corner room, upstairs vs downstairs? THanks!

The music has been hit and miss on Caribbean Cay. Personally I think even the parking lot views are great at CBR. With all the landscaping it is hard to even see the cars in the parking lot.

Just got done reading ALL 51 pages of this fourth installment of the tread and am SOOOOO excited for our upcoming trip... In DECEMEBER!!! :sad1:Ahh it feels like forever!

Has anyone had good/bad/otherwise experience with the Kids Nite Out babysitter service? I don't leave my daughter (2) with anyone, but the thought of enjoying a night solo in Disney with my DH makes me want to budge!

Thanks to all for the input, opinions & GREAT pictures!!!
