Caribbean Beach construction pictures

Thanks for the pics Safetymom. How much construction is going on there exactly? We've never been to this resort and have reservations for there in two weeks.

Will it greatly diminish our enjoyment of the resort and pools? Our travel agent never mentioned the construction.
Thanks!

I can't speak to any noise but other than that it shouldn't affect your vacation at CBR at all.

Are they just refurbishing areas, new paint, new grass, etc or are they making changes? Are those brown walled const. walkways the paths from off the bridge to OPR? The area where they used to have piped in island music as you walk across? I couldn't really tell from the pictures.

As you are coming off the bridge facing the pool you can turn right with no problems. The walls prevent you from seeing the construction.

If you try to turn left to go to OPR you can't. You can still get to OPR by walking through the pool area.

Construction is just in that area. No painting, new grass, etc. They have sunk poles in the lake, guess we need to stay tuned to see what they are doing.

Poles in the lake? Sounds like a new bridge. Thanks for the pictures and updates!

How long is this construction going to be going on for? We are scheduled to arrive on Dec. 7th, will it be done by then?

I don't think it is for a new bridge. It isn't big enough. The poles are near the shoreline. Not sure how long they are working on this project.

OK, here is what I found out while looking into my next little trip over to WDW on the WDW site:

The Old Port Royale feature pool will be under refurbishment from Jan 7 through mid-September 2008. There are six other pools available, and waterslides for children are being added at the Barbados and Jamaica village pools. In addition, enhanced children's recreation activities will be offered during the refurbishment.

That seems like a long time for the pool to be refurbished, doesn't it?

Wow, that is more than I was expecting. Can't wait to see what they are up to:). Looks like something big.
The picture of the sunset is gorgeous, btw! We will be there two weeks from today. Can't wait!

Two weeks and 2 days for us! Im a little nervous about construction noise...but
I guess no one else is...:rotfl:

Thanks for the info everyone! We are going in July 08, and were planning on staying at CBR again. We stay a few days without any park passes just to hang out by the pool, but if the pool is going to be under construction, we'll be staying somewhere else!

Wait a minute! I was under the impression that the construction wouldn't be starting until January 2008! Did something change?? We just paid for our December 07 trip!

We recieved the "letter" from WDW for the improvements to benefit future guests and will be there until Nov 24.

I feel we really got the shaft from WDW. I booked CBR with the knowledge that construction would not start until next January. I get grief from the wife everyday now about how it will be a noisy dust bowl and why did I book that resort.

From the pictures of the construction barriers it looks like the view and ambience walking over the bridge to OPR has been completely ruined. I paid for disney magic and pixie dust not construction dust.

Of course the "notice" was last minute and there are little to no choices in moving now for a high demand week. If I had know this I would have reserved Coronado Springs or just stayed offsite.

Very disappointed :sad2:

That's such a shame! We didn't get a notice so I'm hoping it will be all over before we get there on December 10th. So frustrating!

I'm sure if you called WDW they would switch you to another resort. Or maybe they could discount it more? :sad2: I know maintenance has to be done sometime but I think they should discount the rooms a bit when they do.
