Career Start Fall 2009

Late March? Ugh the waiting is killing me. :guilty:

That journal sounds like fun. I should get one too haha

I'm going to feel so awesome when/if we get down there and a bunch of people are carrying around their Wrech This Journal. lol!

I talked to my parents today about the economy and the chances they're cancelling the program. My mom thinks that they have a commitment to their apartments, especially the one they just finished building (Patterson Court). My dad says that their numbers are most likely going to be down because they'll want to hire more locally and they're probably going to lay off some people anyways. But at the same time, the CS and CP employees are probably a lot more dependable than local.

Does anyone know the number of Career Start students they hire a season. I'm sure it's a lot smaller than the College Program... Anyways! I hope we all can sit tight until the end of March. It's going to be a long wait.

But at the same time, the CS and CP employees are probably a lot more dependable than local.

I wouldn't agree with that...

I believe the CP would be an advantage with the current state of the economy. Obviously, Disney would need to keep their apartments occupied, or else they'd be losing money (I can't see Disney selling the complexes)

CPs are paid much less than FT's.

Of course, recessions have not lasted any more than a couple of years at the most. The economy will turn around - it has before.

So we shouldn't be worried about careerstart program being dropped? I mean they told us March is when they are recruiting...

Im not trying to be the person with bad news. But they told us the applications were going to be up on the 11th, and then they announced this. Now they are telling us late March. Im excited for the program but im not putting my life on hold anymore. If and when they come up in March we can apply. But I'm not counting on them to come up. Lets hope they are just holding off because the CP applications are drowning them in work and they will start accepting applications. But I wouldnt hold my breath. Go on with life like they did cancel the program and we can all apply when they do put them up. Dont get your hopes up. Once again. Im not trying to make people mad..its just my opinion on the matter.

I've heard from a lot of people that Disney says they aren't going to hire at all for the Disney CareerStart Fall 09. So, I sent my application in anyways and I'm hoping to hear back from then in the next 2 weeks, hopefully more like one but beggars can't be choosers.

Any opinions? What are all you guys doing?

I'v been hearing so many different things. But i'm gonna send my application anyways. Lets just hope this all works out

I sent mine in last week and no word from them...:S

I sent mine in on Thursday. When did you send yours in? I'm not expecting anything until like... next week. They clearly aren't too concerned about getting back to us. And besides, we weren't even supposed to send them down anyway.

Maybe if I talk myself down enough about this not happening, God (or someone) will do what he always does... the opposite of what I think is going to happen.

umm tuesday of last week i think. I really dont think they are going to get back to me or anything though..:S

I sent mine in and now im waiting for them to recive it so i can make a phone interview

Exactly. Which is why I'm puzzled that you guys are sending stuff down and then expecting them to get back to you.

When they have on the site that they aren't accepting applications, it pretty much means that they aren't accepting applications. Why send an application when they say that they don't want them?

They moved everyone who was supposed to be there in the Spring to the Fall and it looks like that they are contacting those who sent in applications late in the Spring to fill any gaps.

If they do get back to you and say that you are declined, are you going to be any happier about it?

I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I just don't understand what the fuss is about.

The fuss is really that we're all too jumpy and anxious about what is going on. I've heard of a number of people getting interviews that sent down their application in Jan. and Feb.

I think that the people who sent them in early, or at least with me, saw those people getting interviews and wanted to make sure they got their application in before they went insane. I'm not actually expecting anything for a while but it makes me feel a lot better that they actually have it and it's not just sitting in my room.

So. Who called down today and what did they say? A couple of days ago the program was definitely running but they weren't accepting as many people.

I've been trying to tell people this for a couple weeks now, no one's listening.

This whole conversation makes me sad and jumpy and nervous. :(

I think maybe you guys are getting the College Program and CareerStart Program confused.

For the College Program you have to have completed at least one semester of college to apply. This is the one that people have been sending in applications and getting interviews for.

For the CareerStart Program you do not have to have attended college. You can go straight out of high school for (I believe) up to 48 months. This is the one that is not recruiting right now.

My DD is a senior in HS and hoping to do CareerStart in the fall, but if they don't offer it this year, she will probably go to college for the fall semester and then apply to the College Program next year.

Also, where are you all finding the phone number to call and ask about the CareerStart program? I'd like to call to see if I get the same answer everyone else has been getting. Can someone please post the number you called? Thanks!

Um... I think those people are all College Program folks. Not CareerStart.

Praise2Him - I believe the number is on the site. Click on "Presentation Schedule"

Thanks, I found it! :thumbsup2

Is anyone else having trouble signing up to be notified when (and IF) they do start accepting applications? I check every day, and fill out the form to be notified, but it always gives an error - "The Page Cannot Be Found". :confused3

Guess I'll just keep checking every day!

I've tried signing up a couple times and nothings ever happened.

But also, no, we're not getting confused with CP and CS. Most of the people I know that got interviews are friends of mine and we've been talking for a couple months down. And everyone I know thats sent one down is applying for CareerStart.

Okay. I called a couple days ago about the career start program and they said that they dont even know if they are going to be having the fall program. So im thinking odds are they are not.
Although i really hope they do.
