I will be traveling to Disney January 18-25. It was a last minute decision to fly. We decided we didn't want to travel 17 hours with 5 kids:eek:

I have a confirmation with Alamo for $252 for a minivan. This includes taxes and other charges. I used a code that I found on Mousesavers. Is this a good rate? I have a AAA membership, Sam's Club and WDW Annual pass, but none of them gave me a better rate at Alamo or other agency.

Also, I am arriving at 9:30am but my returnng flight does not leave until 7:30 pm. Does anyone know what time I will be required to have the car back to not be charged for more than a week.

Thanks for your help. Only a few days to go:earsboy:

You will have to have the car back by 9:30 am. They may give you an hour after that but they will charge you for an extra day. It will be the daily rate shown on your confirmation sheet. Cant tell you if that is a good rate for a mini van as I dont rent them. But in comparison, I have paying a little under $200. for a mid size car.

SM23, do you need the van when you are there or will it just be parked? If you don't need it then you should think about taking a towne car service. That's what we have done in the past an will do next January when (if?) we make another trip to WDW.

We are staying at Marriott's Grand Vista so the car will be used everyday. Thanks for the suggestion though.

That sounds like a pretty good rate to me. We always rent cars, and usually they are minivans, when we go to Disney World. Good rates on minivans are typically around 199.00 a week plus taxes and fees so your price sounds OK to me. As the previous poster mentioned if you pick up the van at 9:30AM, it will need to be back around the same time for it to be considered a week. You have to pay that additional day charge to keep the van until late in the afternoon.

I don't know if that is a good rate or not, I don't rent minivans, but, I can tell you that you will have a 59 minute grace period before you get whacked with extra charges. Book the van for the actual times you will have it, it will be less expensive to do it that way than to rent for a week and return it late without telling them.

You have a 59 minute grace period but the time of your rental is THE TIME YOU PICK UP the van. If your flight is scheduled to arrive and 9:30 and you pick up the van at 10:30 you'll have to return it by 11:29. You can either change your flight reservation (coming or going), pay the rate for an extra day or have a lot of time to kill in the airport. It may be too late to rebook a reservation and keep your good rate. Your contract will give you the rate for an extra day, if it's too high see if you can negotiate. Current promotion is $215 /week and $42 per day. I think I'd pay the extra $$ rather than spend the day in MCO.
