Car Rental/Cruise

My nephew and his wife are going on a cruise (not Disney) out of Port Canaveral on the 6th of February. They plan to rent a car at MCO on the 5th, spend the night with relatives that night and then drive to Port Canaveral the next day. They plan to leave their rental parked while on their four day cruise, then drive it back to MCO for their flight out on the 11th. Is this the best way to do it? I wondered if they could turn it in at Port Canaveral and then get another rental for their drive back to MCO. Any ideas?
