Any suggestions on dinner... at a resort??? This will be first year I am missing ohana but this is what happens when they allow people to book so far in advance... people who book trip closer cant get reservation.. crazy..

so any advice.. We have the dining plan.. something good...table service... this will be replacing dinner at ohana... using one table service credit..

thanks ahead of time!!!

so tired right now.. im so OCD wana book everything asap.

thanks again..

Don't give up on Ohana. Book an alternative to be safe, but keep trying. We scored a Le Cellier ressie on our last trip 3 weeks prior to our trip. We leave today, and I finally got 1900 Park Fare last Saturday for 5:50 dinner. Persistance pays off!

KEEP TRYING! but make an alternate ADR...Last year I got CM at about 3 weeks before our trip. I had just tried every other day or so and finally lucked out.

Not sure when you're going, but I checked yesterday for my mid July trip and O'Hana was available for dinner 4 of the 5 nights we're there - all for times between 5 and 8 pm. I would definitely keep checking.

I really liked my meal at the Wave and Grand Floridian Cafe... oh and Kona was yummy too!

my friend keeps telling me to keep trying.. I will.. here's another question.. I'm using the online reservation system... is it better to call??

I was thinking The Wave as an alternative... :) I was even thinking The Wilderness Lodge... Whispering Canyon... never been to WL and I heard fun things about the WC... what do you guys think?

Thanks guys youre the best!!!!!!

hi. on our september trip during the free dining we booked that trip with only a little bit of notice. i did get adrs but i had to pick a few new ones that we had never tried since our favorites were booked up. We ended up loving Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. We loved it so much that we wanted to go there again during the trip, but i figured during free dining the chances of getting an adr last second is next to none. However... i called from the hotel room and wanted Liberty Tree and got it!!! They even had a 5pm for two adults!! I was shocked and so happy! This also happened with wanting another Kona Cafe reservation.. got it as well! If you like Ohana you will like Kona as far as food. I am loving Kona more than Ohana, which was my favorite. I like Kona better b/c they have the BEST ever bread and butter.. the teryaki steak w/ mashed potatoes and a side of the teryaki sauce is heavenly, and so is a Kona Cone for dessert.. and you can get the same sticky wings as Ohana as an appetizer. We still do both places during the trip. Also on our NYE wedding trip we had extra TS credits b/c the castle was a nightmare of a dinner and they didnt charge us.. so i was able to book Artist's Point and Narcoosee's with only a day or two notice. Good luck, keep trying for Ohana or just go to Kona. :wizard:

you are so right!! Thanks.. I ended up booking chef mickey the night i wanted ohana cause i couldnt get chef mickey on a saturday... and booked tonys since we are going to be in MK on the saturday i wanted chef mickey.

I will keep trying ohana... and maybe well switch it up and change a few things at last minute to try something new. I book alot of reservations based on convenience where we will be on that particular day. I like to stay in the parks as much as I can.. so if not eating inside the park ill book in a resort closest to it..

its all good. thanks again!

just an update. if anyone cares lol

I ended up using 2 table service credits and booking spirit of aloha at the poly dinner show. Never did that show before.. Hoop Dee Doo is awesome.. why not try this!

yay!! :goodvibes

this is a good way of getting over not getting ohana adr.

Even us non-OCD people want to book everything ASAP. Disney letting you book 180 days out is not the problem b/c if you had booked your trip sooner, you would have been one of the people making all your ADR's then also.

Keep trying. Some people double-book and as they get closer they tend to drop ADR's. There's also a canceled ADR thread on this forum, you might be able to keep an eye on it and snag something. As for suggestions, why not try the Kona Cafe for dinner?

Prmamidedos has hit the nail on the head...IMHO the ADR issue you are experiencing with Ohana is primarily caused by folks double and triple booking ADRs for the same time period. If Disney did a better job policing, or even preventing, multiple bookings it would be easier for everyone to secure ADRs.

I understand why people want to establish "back up" plans as it relates to dining. However, I do not believe people think about the consequences of double booking. Yes....I understand you want your family to have a good time. But how about my family? Or the family of many other loyal disboarders? Shouldn't we be able to secure ADRs for our favorite dining places?

Sorry to get on my soapbox, this is just one of those subjects that annoys me. Good luck to the OP...and keep trying I am betting you can snag an 'ohana ADR before your trip.

We went when it was 40 degrees and we still enjoyed it!! SoA is a great show and the food is fantastic. I wasn't too thrilled with the dessert but the Pele's Fire Punch drink (you keep the coconut monkey, which my kids now use as piggy banks) was AMAZING. I wish the weather had been nicer as some of the dancers were really covered up, but I got to see a fair amount of muscle, LOL;).

hahaa you guys are funny!

yes I am looking forward to the dinner show at the POLY.. I heard many negatives but if i listened to them I would never experience for myself..

I made sure to cancel all of my old ADRs right away.. we originally booked in aug but then changed to sept.. I agree people should not double book!

Oh well... I undertsand Ohana is popular. Ill keep trying.. theres only one night I have open for ohana, I have every other day/night strategically planned out! lol

*OCD* :P

Yeah I would keep trying to that one is a staple for us the only repeat restaurant we have this trip. I just scored ressies at 2 places I couldnt get until today Garden Grill and Tusker House and we are leaving in 13 days so I cut it pretty close :)

Don't give up - we actually got a day-of reservation the first week in December (very busy time) by calling the dining reservation line that afternoon. I couldn't believe it when the agent said they had a 7:15 open that night!!!

Keep trying! People cancel ADRs all the time. I really hope you get it!

Don't give up. I just booked my trip a week ago for Aug 1 - 8 and never thought I would get Ohana for dinner and I got it. I was shocked. Our last trip at the 180 mark I couldn't get it. Keep trying and good luck.:cool1:
